And yes I am definitely not digging the fact she looks like a de-aged Misty Knight. Does marvel know that not all black women look alike. Hell does comics in general? The New DC power girl, Misty Knight and this girl All look exactly alike...

right?! the big two literally keep reusing the same character design for black female characters! that hairstyle plus seventies round earrings. I can't remember the last time I saw a character without this setup. and it's so lazy considering the myriads of hair styles that are out there. also I got to add, I'm kinda confused over why riri has an arc reactor?? will she get hurt in some way? I mean she could don the armor without one in her chest.

just to clarify though, I'm not at all opposed to someone else taking up the mantle of iron man, and riri has great potential as a character (plus tony needs a break) but I can't say that I trust bendis to do this well... he's lost all and any faith I had in him after the debacles of these last months. plus, I'm kinda confused over why they didn't use rhodey's niece that already existed and was intertwined with the iron man and war machine mythos...

I didn't quite expect to be this apathetic about this new team of young heroes. I mean, pretty good that they gave them an original name and it's been obvious for a while now that the younger heroes are getting tired of all this bs but yeah... I don't.. really care for this. pass.

and as everyone's already pointed out, I'm a bit put off by the fact that marvel just effectively spoiled the end of vision's solo here.

this feels very... overwatch inspired somehow.. but despite it looking a tiny bit interesting (with some cool designs too) I will not be reading it since ewing has disappointed me too much lately. I know for a fact that he can write some pretty great books but I've been burned to many times at this point.

OOooooo Marvel shaking up the status quo... ooooo... status quo that has only existed for few month.... oooo... how invested i am...

yeah pretty much. marvel barley spends any time at all building something up (let alone use it to it's full potential) these days before they start tearing it down again, while expecting everyone to be shocked.

If they do make a New Young Avengers, it should be these 3 with Amadeus Cho Hulk, Wolverine, and maybe one of Vision's kids?

I sincerely doubt vision's kids are going to make it out of his solo alive so that's probably not gonna happen...

get outta here with these complaints. this is not the funeral, it's a get-together among friends to mourn one of the few black heroes having passed on. and yes, rhodey knew and was friends with most of them, yes, tony and carol'll are still some of the closest people he had in his life and will most likely be at the funeral later on (assuming they're done fucking around while bendis pulls their strings)and might even be having a get together of their own soon in some other title besides CWII where they lament, maybe some confession type of deal.

I mean c'mon people! luke even said in YA vol. 1 that there simply aren't that many black heroes and that he makes it a point to know and keep track of all of them, when cap questioned him about his excitement for patriot.

it's a simple gesture of solidarity, nothing much to get so up in arms over.

Well they make up 12% of the U.S. so statistically there would be fewer black heroes. Black Panther and Storm aren't even American and a lot of super heroes are born out of scientific experiments gone wrong, unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) that doesn't happen much in Africa BUT if he does keep track of the black heroes, where are the others? I know there are a few dozen more I can think of;

Cloak

Blade

Gentle

Cardiac

Blue Marvel

Network

Patriot

Just to list a few

mayhaps more will show up in the issue, tho I'm not sure gentle is even alive still, what with marvel getting rid off mutant characters left and right lately. patriot's been retired ever since children's crusade (which is some BS if you ask me) so I'd be very happy if they took this opportunity to bring him back, since he's a cap character and it'd be fun having him interact with sam.

but I don't know about the rest. we shall see.

Janet, weren't you replaced with the daughter pym had from his first Marriage with that russian Woman that looked like you.

I bet that's why she tells him to come with her at the end there, to tell him about nadia *yawn*.

at least she has a pretty cool costume in this title tho! gotta enjoy the little things before marvel inevitably finishes up her little mentorship with the new wasp and stuffs jan into the closet of comic-book-limbo, along side the mothballs for the next five years. -_-

I mean, I knew it was gonna be horrible, so I'm kinda annoyed at myself for still being surprised over just how BJORKING awful it turned out to be. (and we're only on the second issue!!!)

bendis, as always, does whatever the BJORK he wants with characters and writes them in whatever way that'll fit and move along the story, until no one is recognizable or, at best, only comes of a caricatures of themselves. he, yetagain, uses mental illness as a tool to move the plot along while depicting it in the most hamfisted disrespectful way possible (first his bullshit with wanda's break down over her kids that came out of nowhere which decimated her character so bad she was kept out of comics for years, and now tony's "mental breakdown" having him too act wildly out of character and move him into villain territory) while implementing the most basic of plots that the characters have faced before, have had blow up in their face, and should have long ago learned to deal with differently. the whole goddamn thing is forced as all hell, and the only groups for which it actually makes sense for to be heading into a conflict with each other, are the x-men and the inhumans.

besides all that, marvel has still not even fixed all the damaged done from the last war! there's still so much left unresolved from that conflict, and now we're adding more to this pile of crap. and that's the thing. fans have barley recovered from the ugliness that their favorite characters went through in that event, and now bendis is making sure that those same characters become even more unlikable. from cap being a BJORKING nazi, to carol spinning out of control with unethical arrests and preemptive actions, to tony apparently torturing a freaking teen, who's gonna have the energy to keep on reading about these BJORKS after this whole thing is done?? because as we've seen before, marvel will most likely give none of them redemption, just sweep it under the rug and start fresh. seems to me that the company wants to wipe their A-listers of the map by heading them down a road from which it's doubtful that they'll recover from. and killing of rhodey and jen is, and still remains, bullshit.

I'll keep up with news and see how much more downhill this will go (this event ain't seeing my money tho), like I have been, but I'm honestly wondering what the hell marvel thinks they're doing at this point.
