Rogue's relationships
Okay, this is going to be a long, touchy story for all you "Gambit and Rogue" fans out there but you have to read it in order to fully understand. When I first saw the character Rogue from the X-Men comics, I thought she was interesting, when I first saw her in the 90's X-Men animated series I thought she was ANNOYING! She came off as a bit of a "Mary Sue" (I now know that JUBILEE was much closer to being one of those!... And I thought that was Kitty Pryde's job! LOL) with her absorbing powers AND her "Ms. Marvel powers" she seemed arrogant, but was never called out on it! and just to rub it in, she seemed to be there just to fill the gap left by COLOSSUS, and since Colossus is one of my favorite characters in MARVEL, I was pretty biased which only made my attitude towards her WORSE... But as the series progressed and we learned more about the character, I began to realize what a good, if not GREAT character Rogue could be! and she became one of my favorites, I even considered her relationship with Gambit to be entertaining... Until it stated getting played for DRAMA... I considered his attitude toward Rogue to be more like this: Gambit loved a challenge and Rogue finds his advances to be annoying, yet flattering, after all she FINALLY met a man who was man enough to want to be HER man! But as their relationship went on it became MORE than just flirting, it became downright romantic and that's fine, Gambit isn't as shallow and arrogant as he let's on and neither is Rogue, so it made sense why they wouldn't stick to where they were and leave it at that forever... But I still think it was taken too far, say what you will about the first 3 X-Men movies but it was kind of nice to see Rogue in a relationship with somebody OTHER than Gambit for once! (Plus, Iceman is one of my favorite characters so once again... BIASED...) However a LOT of fans seem to think that Rogue and Gambit are just plain MADE FOR EACH OTHER! And frankly, I think that's a blatant exaggeration. Just because Rouge and Gambit had a GOOD relationship doesn't mean they had a "ONE TRUE LOVE" relationship! That's why I am making this list, because I want to create a list of characters Rogue should try being in a relationship at least ONCE before going back to Gambit again, and NO I'm NOT a fan of "Spider-Man: One More Day" where no matter how stupid the story is, the hero isn't married anymore and that means EVERYTHING IS A-OKAY FROM NOW ON... Ugh... I'm just saying that unmarried couples can still be interesting when "playing the field" and not just to get a "Little on the side"!
