New Thunderbolts Series

Note this series is designed to follow the current Marvel Continuity as closely as possible and isn't affiliated with Marvel Mayhem or any other group. It's just something I decided to do because I am fed up with the way Marvel has totally written off the majority of characters outside those seen in the Cinematic Universe and the cartoons. While Thunderbolts was probably never the best title I have grown tired of my favourite characters becoming jokes, having their motives completely reversed as if the T-Bolts title was non canon or simply being abandoned.

Gripe over I hope you guys enjoy the character list that hopefully will help those unfamiliar with the individuals in this story with appearances, names etc

List items

  • Alias - Melissa Gold, El Cascavel

Appearances - 33 (26 in Thunderbolts, 7 in Sensational Songbird)

Before re-joining the Thunderbolts, Melissa protected the Washington DC area, and later chased Killer Shrike when the villain stole a radioactive isotope. Despite being aided by the Avenger Hawkeye, Shrike escaped although he had lost when he had stolen, and the two heroes went to lunch. Once there Melissa was shocked to learn that the Avengers were ready to accept her as a member, but in the end didn't give a definitive yes or no to joining the team. Returning home, she received a cry for help from a young runaway she had met, and flew to help but was ultimately too late to rescue her due to interference from Killer Shrike and Taskmaster.

A few weeks later, with the help of Abner Jenkins Melissa masqueraded as the villainess El Cascavel to infiltrate the Serpent Society and later participated in a raid on a downed Helicarrier. After slipping inside Melissa quickly defeated Anaconda, Black Racer and Coachwhip before engaging Death Adder. After a tense battle, the pair were forced into a stalemate, with Death Adder dosing Melissa with a deadly venom seconds before he was knocked out. After recovering Melissa fell into a depression about loosing Lannie, and was mocked by Moonstone (although its probable this was just her dissatisfied subconsciosus) who forced her out of her apartment to buy flowers for Diamondback's funeral where she was ambushed by Lady Hellebore. Melissa later caught up with Taskmaster, and overpowered him, with the master mercenary finaly revealing where Lanie was being held.

Sometime Melissa was incarcerated as part of her investigation into Black Oak prison. During a meeting she told Abe to visit home, a message that was echoed by former Thunderbolt Hawkeye. Later Melissa would engage Joystick in a brutal fight that ended with her being taken to the Advanced Measures Wing. Waking up in the Advanced Measures Wing, Melissa was surprised to find that the Warden was pleased with her actions, and put the other meta criminals under her command. She later took fellow prisoner Nightshade for Interrogation but secretly was aiming to escape from the Black Oak and submit her testimony to the CSA. The two escapees stopped at the infirmary, to get Nightshade medical help, but were discovered by Superia. Melissa would send Nightshade and Rock Python away before fighting one on one with Superia. The pair were on an even footing until Superia destroyed the wall of the prison, where she was eventually defeated by the Thunderbolts. Melissa made a promised to Nightshade to help her get through Medical School to become a legitimate doctor, if she joined the Thunderbolt.

Melissa later worked with Rock Python to thin members of King Cycle's gang, and was the first of the team to recognise Thor when he intervened in their pursuit. Melissa would later fight Thor after he attacked the Thunderbolts, and despite her best efforts was defeated. She would later shield the entire team when the Thermal Man tried to destroy them. After recovering from the blow the Thunderbolts defeated their firing squads and split up to stop the Thermal Man, with Songbird, Nightshade and Rock Python going to Cheer Chadwick's lair in an attempt to stop the neural link between woman and machine. Songbird led the team into the Hesperus Chadwick Neurology Centre, and while she recognised a name on the directory, before she, Nightshade and Rock Python confronted Cheer Chadwick. Melissa initially fought Hoopsnake, and later subdued Ingot by knocking her into a vacant indoctrination booth. She later worked with Rock Python to take down Cheer Chadwick while she held Nightshade hostage.

Melissa was present at the Denver-Miami game, and fought alongside the NFL Super Pro to thwat the would be assassins, despite his initial attack on her. She later took great glee in knocking the Super Pro out when it was revealed that he had hired the assassins to boost his ratings.

Songbird worked alongside Rock Python to stall the G.L.O.B in the mines while Nightshade and MACH VI created a catalyst that would destroy it. The pair of them were almost killed by the creature, before being rescued by the Absorbing Man. Melissa fought against Scourge, with the villain almost killing her before she was rescued by the Absorbing Man. Melissa later blocked an attack from Scourge, but was later incapacitated by Titania.

Melissa was one of the Thunderbolts having brunch when Joystick was detected. After being shot down she fought Joystick, and was later blinded when her foe flicked salt in her eyes. Recovering Joystick used her batons to deafen Melissa, who was later taken to hospital after the battle. Melissa watched the second battle between the Thunderbolts and the Agents of Vengeance, before being read into the Beetle Protocol due to Abe's abduction. Entering the former Thunderbolts Mountain Complex, Melissa watched as Valerie Cooper donned the Beetle Mk3 Armour to fight the Red Hulk. Melissa later fought Joystick and Boomerang, easily defeating them both before being incapacitated by Scourge.

Songbird would later lead a reduced team to deal with the threat of the Masked Marauder in Denver. After a tense battle they defeated him, only to see a stone sword shoot across the sky. Melissa later joined the team on the hunt for the sword, and infiltrated Castle Zemo to rescue Citizen V only to be attacked by Crossbones who utilised a sonic null field to prevent her from using her powers. Despite this Melissa fought back, and with the aid of Citizen V defeated the thug. Later to infiltrate the quarantine cells to rescue the imprisoned medical staff, Songbird and Citizen V controlled Crossbones like a puppet although it didn't fool the prison guard Yuki-Onna. Despite this the frost demon agreed to help the Thunderbolts deal with the DOA's plan to activate the Sword of Xibulba. Melissa rejoined the other Thunderbolts and attacked the Blood Brother and the Sword of Xibalba.

Melissa and Abe took a trip to Sienna, Italy over the Valentines weekend. While in the plaza on the last day of their getaway the pair of Thunderbolts were ambushed by the Great Game. After a skirmish with Birdman and Lady Hellebore Abe proposed to Melissa, something she accepted before using the diamonds on the ring to defeat the final assassin Killshot.

  • Alias - MACH VI, MACH VII

Appearances - 29 (26 in Thunderbolts, 4 in Sensational Songbird)

Before re-joining the Thunderbolts Abe turned down an offer from Thunderbolt Ross, to buy the team name. Refusing Abe angered Ross, who beat the master mechanic before using the name for his anti-terror squad anyway. Later, after he had recovered Abe foiled a bank heist by the Serpent Squad, and arrested California King, Taipan and Lancehead, although El Cascavel managed to escape. Unknown to anyone but him and the escaping snake, El Cascavel was actually Melissa Gold in disguise. Later he, and SHIELD agent Diamondback arrived during a Serpent Society assault on a Helicarrier, and took down Puff Adder with a taser. Abe later enganged Bushmaster in battle who later surrendered when he heard about Lanie's kidnapping, even going as far as to aid Abe in finding Death Adder.

One of the original Thunderbolts, Abe Jenkins AKA MACH VI is currently investigating why former partner Melissa Gold is currently imprisoned. His hunt has led him to Burton Canyon, a sleepy mountain village the Thunderbolts had once lived in many years ago where he was ambushed by Scourge. Despite being defeated Abe survived and was told about the secrets of Black Oak by CSA Agent Valerie Cooper. At Black Oak, Abe took charge of off lining the facilities power, and later fought Jackdaw, Bulldozer and Water Witch, until the later superheated the MACH VI armour's coolant system, effectively boiling him alive. As Water Witch tortured Abe he was rescued by Rock Python and Nightshade. Abe later returned the favour by rescuing Nightshade when the walls of the prison collapsed. After Superia's defeat, Abe promised Rock Python that he would send a CSA investigation into the apartheid government of Rudyarda if he joined the Thunderbolts.

Abe later led the Thunderbolts in pursuit of King Cycle's gang, and were aided by Thor Odinson who had come to inspect the team. He and Melissa were later belittled by the God of Thunder, for their criminal past. Abe would later take the team to the Imperial Forces controlled Steel Mill, and would later be knocked unconscious by the reassembled Thermal Man. After recovering from the blow the Thunderbolts defeated their firing squads and split up to stop the Thermal Man, with MACH VI, Atlas and Thor attempting to stop the robot itself. Abe's initial onslaught did little to the Thermal Man, but his second attack ended with a stray rocket entering the firing chamber of one of the robots blasters, causing the plasma reserve inside to detonate. Despite this damage, the Thermal Man continued its rampage until it was de-powered. Once down Abe commented that the Avengers Holograms had to come from somewhere, and that an unknown party had decided to help the Thunderbolts.

Abe was part of the team investigating the money trail that the crooked Super Pro had left when he hired assassins to try and kill himself.

Abe created a series of flachettes loaded with a catalyst that would destroy the G.L.O.B, before giving the projectiles to the Absorbing Man so he could fight the creature. Abe later fought both Titania and Scourge, and after the battle offered the Absorbing Man membership, if he wanted it after the Mission on Genosha.

Abe was among the Thunderbolts recovering after a mission that involved vampires when Joystick was detected in Utah. After flying out there he was shot down by Boomerang and the Agents of Vengeance. The pair then fought but were equally matched with neither of them getting the upper hand. As the battle raged on Boomerang got the upper hand, but was ultimately forced to retreat when the Red Hulk joined the battle. Abe later explained his tension to Valarie Cooper, and suggested activating the Beetle Contingency when he went on the next mission. During the Thunderbolts next bout with the Agents of Vengeance, Abe once again fought Boomerang, this time getting the upper hand. Before he could finish the fight however, Abe was disabled by an EMP device, and abducted by the Crimson Cowl. Abe was later aided by Scourge, who managed to get Jenkins back to his MACH VI armour. Abe later delivered the knockout blow to Thunderbolt Ross only to later find out that he didn't have the authority to arrest the Red Hulk.

Abe aided Atlas and Hawkeye in the defence of Thunderbolts Headquaters from the self proclaimed 'Heralds of the Forth Reich'. He easily defeated the Iron Cross, and helped Hawkeye defeat the darkforce user Huckenbien

Abe would spend some time out of the field to repair his armour, only to be ambushed in his workshop by the Avenger Doctor Voodoo. Abe later went to Bolivia in search of the Stone Sword of Xibalba, even scuttling the ship to give Songbird cover as she headed for Castle Zemo. Abe later supressed the Blood Brother when he attacked Rock Python and Nightshade, and later cut the cable of the crane that was being used to raise the relic out of the ground and later attempted to destroy the Sword of Xibalb, but was foiled by the efforts of the Blood Brother.

Melissa and Abe took a trip to Sienna, Italy over the Valentines weekend. While in the plaza on the last day of their getaway the pair of Thunderbolts were ambushed by the Great Game. After a skirmish with Pavane and the Great Wall Abe proposed to Melissa, something she accepted before using the diamonds on the ring to defeat the final assassin Killshot.

  • Alias - Tilda Johnson

    Appearances - 24

Hired to do experiments for the Warden, Nightshade refused for an unknown reason and was taken for torture until she started work again. Nightshade was rescued by Melissa, and helped administer her own medical care, until the two were interrupted by Superia. As Songbird fought Superia, Rock Python rescued Nightshade and later the pair helped Abe Jenkins defeat Waterwitch. Tilda would later use a deadly toxin to defeat Superia and drain her powers. Nightshade was skeptical when Melissa offered to get her into college, but was later swayed by Atlas, who promised her that the Thunderbolts had no reason to deceive her.

Nightshade set up an ambush as the Thunderbolts pursued King Cycle's gang. She later stated that the Ionic Pylons used, were designed by Erik and improved on by her. Nightshade would later take some hairs from Thor, and fled when he fought her teammates. She later returned the hairs stating there were of little use to her. After recovering from an ambush by Imperial Forces, the Thunderbolts defeated their firing squads and split up to stop the Thermal Man, with Songbird, Nightshade and Rock Python going to Cheer Chadwick's lair in an attempt to stop the neural link between woman and machine. Nightshade was part of the team that infiltrated the Hesperus Chadwick Neurology Center, but was interrupted when Cheer Chadwick alerted security to her presence. Unfased Nightshade disconnected Chadwick from the control chair, and warned MACH VI about the Thermal Man rebooting, before being taken hostage by Chadwick. After being rescued by Songbird and Rock Python, she mocked her captor before subduing her.

Nightshade lent her expertise in science, to an investigation regarding a shooting. After finding the Basilisk's fingerprints in a cabin, she aided in the villains defeat, using a syringe to momently blind him, in order to steal Basilisk's power-gem. Nightshade later aided the Super Pro in defeating a team of assassins.

Nightshade created a catalyst, later used by the Absorbing Man, to destroy the G.L.O.B. Back at base Nightshade displayed her disgust at Creel's change of heart, before being talked down by Atlas. Nightshade later rescued Atlas's life, after he was shot by Scourge, who later returned the favour by defending her from Titania.

Nightshade was on monitor duty, when the Agents of Vengeance lured the Thunderbolts to Utah. She faced off against the Man-Wolf, although she didn't recognise him in his human force. She was saved shortly afterwards by the Red Hulk. After the battle she gave Melissa medical treatment to reverse her temporary blindness and deafness. Nightshade once again fought one on one with Man-Wolf during the next battle with the Agents of Vengeance, and landed a good hit on Jameson, using a heated pan, but ultimately couldn't do enough to defeat him. Back at base Tilda tended to Rock Python's wounds and was warned of General Ross's treachery. During the assault on the Cascades Tilda fought and defeated Puff Adder, and later fought Man-Wolf, and eve matched him blow by blow by turning into a werewolf herself. Despite fighting valiantly she was almost defeated by Jamerson, only being saved when the Crimson Cowl depowered him.

Nightshade worked on determining what killed the Blue Diamond. She tested a theory and was confronted by Captain America regarding a 'friend' she was hoping to help. They were later confronted by the new Sauerspritze, but defeated him by injecting bleach into his acid tank, making his main weaponry harmless.

Nightshade assisted Atlas and Songbird against the Masked Marauder in Denver, reprograming the villains ionic repulsor in order to defeat him. Nightshade later fought against the Blood Brother using a range of advanced biotechnology, as well as analysing the breaking of the calcite strips she used to reset Rock Python's arm, and later recovered some sensors from the downed Thunderhawk.

Nightshade attended a Valentines Party with her friend Maria Vasquez, only to be affected by the Mad Bomb hidden in the basement. In her frenzied feral state, Tilda attacked several of the other party goers, but was ultimately stopped by Atlas using a piece of equipment designed by Baron Zemo.

  • Alias - Erik Josten

    Appearances - 23

Abducted by the CSA to help hunt Scourge Atlas needed little convincing to help the CSA investigate Black Oak after seeing pictures of the inmates killed by the prison staff. Upon reaching Black Oak, Erik revealed that he was now a pacifist, after he critically wounded another inmate at the Raft. He did however, shut down the prison's security using an ionic pulse and later temporarily offlined Jackdaw's armour. As Waterwitch tortured Abe, Atlas grabbed Titania and dropped her into the prison courtyard. Atlas was granted unlimited parole for joining the Thunderbolts, and vouched for Abe and Melissa to Nightshade and Rock Python.

Erik was back at base while the Thunderbolts tested his ionic pylons. He was ambushed by Scourge, who claimed he was here to help and slipped him a USB drive containing CSA secrets. Erik would later lose the USB key when he tried to break up the fight between Thor and his teammates After an ambush by Imperial Forces, the Thunderbolts defeated their firing squads and split up to stop the Thermal Man, with MACH VI, Atlas and Thor attempting to stop the robot itself. In battle with the Thermal Man, Atlas aggressively attacked the robot, demonstrating that he still had his size changing abilities, although they did little to stop the machines advance. After Cheer Chadwick was removed from the robot's control centre, Erik drained the atomic energy that powered it, but had to leave Earth to safely dispose of the surplus he had absorbed.

Returned form orbit, Atlas enjoyed the Denver - Miami game, and later took part in defeating the team of assassins hired by the Super Pro to kill himself.

Atlas worked on evacuating the living workers from the Roxxon Mine to limit the amount that the G.L.O.B could grow. Erik later confronted Nightshade about Creel's sudden change of heart. In battle with Titania and Scourge, Erik was taken out quickly using an ion siphon designed to defeat him, and was later shot by Scourge. Nightshade worked to heal him, and later recovered enough to aid in the counter attack on Titania.

Atlas flew out with the team and was confronted by the Agents of Vengeance. He refused to fight Shatterfist, presumably because he felt guilt about putting the villain in an iron lung after their fight at the Raft. Erik later aided the other Thunderbolts in battle against the Agents of Vengeance, where he attempted to take down the Crimson Cowl with an EMP pulse. Erik later fought Thunderbolt Ross alongside Dr. Valarie Cooper, and was able to inflict enough damage to stun Ross so he could be temporarily depowered by the Beetle Mk 3 Armour.

Atlas, along with Hawkeye and MACH VI fought the self proclaimed 'Heralds of the Forth Reich' with Erik tackling the teams giant Big Zero. After a brief skirmish, Erik used ionic energy to shrink Big Zero to her original size, although he didn't realise she was from the microverse, thus allowing her to escape into the Thunderbolts Base.

Atlas was part of the team who battled the Masked Marauder, although he was hampered by the villains ionic dampner, and later by the villains duplication of his powers. Despite that Erik eventually defeated the Marauder, only to witness the flight of a mystical sword across the heavens. Erik later defeated one of the DOA's thugs in Bolivia before realising that they were in the area around Castle Zemo. When the Thunderbolts attacked the DOA Atlas tackled the crane lifting the Sword of Xibulba, before being shrunk down when the Confessor arrived. Atlas later rejoined the battle, and was able to partially destroy the Sword of Xibalba

Erik planned to walk to the Wyoming border, but was postponed when he and the rest of the Thunderbolts were scrambled to contain the effects of the Madbomb. The following day Erik teamed up with Scourge to rescue Dallas Rhioden, only to fall into the trap of Mr FX and the Crimson Cowl. Briefly under Mr FXs control Erik fought Scourge alongside an enslaved Dallas Rhioden before being freed from the villain's control.

Rock Python was cautious about offering Abe's offer to lead an investigation into the apartheid government of Rudyarda, but was later convinced by Atlas, that the Thunderbolts had no reason to deceive him.

Rock Python worked with Songbird in the pursuit of King Cycle's gang, complaining about the calibre of criminals they were facing. He later took out two gang members by hand, and almost defeated a third before Thor intervened. Rock Python later helped Songbird fight Thor, but like her was easily defeated by the Odinson. After recovering from an ambush by Imperial Forces, the Thunderbolts defeated their firing squads and split up to stop the Thermal Man, with Songbird, Nightshade and Rock Python going to Cheer Chadwick's lair in an attempt to stop the neural link between woman and machine. Rock Python later infiltrated the Hesperus Chadwick Neurology Center, and took out the two Shock-Troopers guarding Cheer Chadwick. After being accosted by the Basilisk, he managed to escape and later contained the villains power-gem in one of his trick eggs. Rock Python went to is first football game and later aided the rest of the team in defeating some assassins and their secret paymaster the NFL Super Pro.

Rock Python worked alongside Songbird to stall the G.L.O.B in the mines while Nightshade and MACH VI created a catalyst that would destroy it. The pair of them were almost killed by the creature, before being rescued by the Absorbing Man. Rock Python later fought Scourge, before being taken out twice; first by Titania, and then by Scourge. Recovering, Rock Python took the fight to Scourge, and was able to crack his helmet. Scourge later escaped, but it seemed as if Rock Python knew who was really behind Scourge's armour.

Rock Python was cooking when the Acts of Vengeance lured the Thunderbolts out to Utah. He later fought Puff Adder, and appeared to be winning despite Boomerang ordering Shatterfist to help his teammate. After defeating Puff Adder, Curtis managed to block Boomerang's kill shot aimed at MACH VI, shortly before the villain fled. Rock Python fought Puff Adder and Boomerang in the second battle with the Agents of Vengeance, and rushed to help Abe when his armour was offlined. Unfortunatly the Red Hulk attacked him from behind, snapping his spine and preventing him from stopping the Crimson Cowl from abducting MACH VI. Injured, Curtis sat out the rest of the mission, but did find time to warn Nightshade of General Ross's deception, even arming her with a special bolas to take down the Red Hulk.

Rock Python talked to Valarie Cooper about his pentition to Doctor Crocodile and the rest of the Pan African congress about the aprthied goverment of his homeland Rudyara. Rock Python was included on the Bolivia mission and was injected with calcite strips to strengthen his broken bone. Alas in battle they snapped when he threw a bolas at the Blood Brother although he was able to throw down a layer of caltrops to slow the alien thugs assault.
