Furthermore, I'd rather not see the X-Men movies reboot and conform to slavishly obeying the comics and becoming another generic schlocky Superhero movie franchise to appease overly spoiled comic book fans. I liked when they were concerned with making legitimately good films first, using the comics as a guide.
The X-Men movies seem about as comic accurate as the MCU films to me. The tone of the movies often match the tone of the comics. Check out this video from Chris Claremont:
I like the line where he says; "The X-Men have never been about costumes punching each other."
