@darknessclad: They are rather consistent with the changes they've made. Becca being alive was pretty much obvious after the graveyard scene; they merely subverted the expectations by taking a plot in a different direction. When you actually stop judging it based on the comic book accuracy, the direction they've chosen is the same through the season. Homelander is a sociopath, raised without love. The moment the doctor says that, thus describing Homelander's theme through this season, the pieces are already in place, set up for Becca reveal. The season final scene is set up heavily, but comic book readers, me included, were clouded by our desire to see this fantastic series faithfully converted into a TV series.
