My Top Ten: Heroes

Listed from favorite to least favorite, my top ten heroes with Comicvine articles. If you like this list, check out my top ten villains list!

List items

  • The goddamn Batman. nuff said.

  • When you watch over 400 episodes of a character's TV show and see them grow from a little boy to a man with two kids, he grows on you. His indomitable spirit and his never-ending quest to improve himself are both admirable.

  • The ultimate space cowboy. And yes, he shot Greedo first.

  • I like the Flash as a concept because he has a non-standard power. Most heroes have some combination of strength, invulnerability and/or energy projection. Flash has none of that, just speed. He has to figure out cool ways to use that power both offensively and defensively. Figuring out how to break dimensional boundaries and travel across time is just a bonus. I picked Wally for this list because he's the one I grew up reading.

  • I like the Green Lantern concept because it takes an average person with no superpowers and gives them unlimited potential limited only by their imagination and force of will. Hal has more will, but Kyle Rayner has it all over him in the imagination contest.

  • The quintessential, original superhero. The standard by which all others are measured against.

  • Shape-shifting. Telepathy. Intangibility. Plus all of Superman's powers. J'onn is one of the most underused and under-appreciated characters in comics. He's lost a lot of his personality in the New 52, but he used to be a cool guy to hang out with too!

  • Just your average 20-something slacker/amateur escape artist. He also happens to be the LAST MAN ON EARTH! While most men might try to take advantage of this situation, Yorick goes on an epic quest around the world to find his girlfriend.

  • Cocky. Egotistic. Funny as hell. Whether in the (Mortal Kombat) games, movies or comics, Johnny Cage is always putting his neck on the line to save Earthrealm. And if he happens to pick up a few ideas for his next movie along the way, who can blame him :-)

  • The world's greatest detective (as well as its second and third greatest). He's sort of what Batman would be like if he was motivated by his need for a mental challenge rather than his parents' deaths.

  • Honorable Mention: just so a Marvel character gets on there :-)
