Hey ComicVine,

I'm pretty much a lurker here, but I wanted to give back to the community what I've been using this great database and api for: Tenma

Tenma is a self-hosted DRM-free digital comic book server that lets you store, organize and read your comics.

The part I've been having so much fun developing is the relationships between comics. Using the ComicVine API, Tenma pulls in metadata about characters, creators, teams, story arcs and publishers and show how they're related to your other issues.

Here are some of the features:

  • Supported on Windows, Mac and Linux.
  • Read your DRM-free digital comic books from any device that has a browser.
  • See how your comics are connected by characters, creators, teams, story arcs and publishers.
  • Live search through all of your series.
  • Two view modes. Fit the comic horizontally or vertically to your browser window.
  • Comic navigation with arrow buttons, or with your keyboard's arrow keys.
  • Supports CBZ, ZIP, CBR, RAR, CBT and TAR formats.

Here are some screenshots:

Please remember that this is still in alpha, and there will be bugs. If you find a a bug, or have an idea for a feature, you can add an issue on GitHub, PM me, or add it in this thread.

Thanks and enjoy!

I'm working on a project that uses the ComicVine API to pull in metadata automatically for the user. However, in my Git repo, my API key is shown in an old version when I had it hardcoded in. This is all private for now, so nobody but me is using this key. My project now requires the user to use their own API key, but I'm going to be making this open-source soon and want to keep my commit history.

Is there any way that I could get a new API key? And are they reused? Because it might be a good idea to ban my current one once I have a new one.
