Ranking Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Films

*I haven't seen Ant-Man 2 yet*

List items

  • Infinity War is the ultimate culmination of basically everything the MCU has led to. While the film isn't entirely flawless, it delivered on all of its promises—and that means fans and critics alike got a superhero epic complete with intense, riveting action, over-the-top scale, and stellar performances from an ensemble cast.

  • Even after multiple viewings, this film doesn't lose its novelty. It was overrated by critics, sure, but people need to understand that something being overrated doesn't make it bad. The fanatics in the audiences who praised this film were matched by those who had lukewarm or negative reactions. Overall the film is a bit divisive, but I think it's unquestionably one of the MCU's best films and biggest successes to date.

  • In terms of solo films, Iron Man is second only to Black Panther as far as quality was concerned. Legitimately one of the most fun things to watch, it remains in my top 5 favorite CBM's.

  • Thrilling, tense, and memorable, The Winter Solder stands tall among Marvel's sprawling cinematic achievements.

  • GOTG is stylish, funny, and all around entertaining. Bonus points for the soundtrack.

  • The sharp plot twists and political commentary made the slow moments worth it.

  • All things GOTG is minus the soundtrack.

  • While still a far-cry from the original two Raimi films, Homecoming acts as a breath of fresh air for movie Spider-Man. It would be higher on the list if it didn't make use of elementary tropes and the tired MCU formula, but Keaton's Vulture was a great yin to Holland's yang.

  • Vol. 2 wasn't as good as the first one, but it kept many of the same traits that made us enjoy its previous installment.

  • The Avengers was the first superhero team up movie, and it did a lot for what it was (which honestly isn't saying much). In retrospect, I don't enjoy as much as I did on my first viewing, but it makes its way into the top 10.

  • Captain America movies are consistently well made, and this is no exception.

  • The movie's greatest trait is the breathtaking visual effects. But all in all, Marvel has seen better days.

  • Doesn't capture the glory of the first film, but redeems itself considerably from the second installment.

  • Predictable and a chore to watch.

  • Cringe-worthy but had it's moments.

  • Cringe-worthy with lesser moments.

  • Cringe-worthy with no moments.

  • Thinly written characters and a watery plot can't support DCEU levels of CGI action sequences.

  • Legitimately bad movie.
