Texas Ranger Anthony Carson was struck down in the line of duty while initiating a response to a supposedly small drug smuggling ring. The information turned out to be a trap, and he received multiple gunshot wounds and eventually left inside a burning building along with any evidence. He was officially pronounced dead the following morning, but his body mysteriously vanished from hospital custody.
Ever since then, the roving spirit of vengeance known as Testament has been sighted scouring the roads of the world - hunting for justice.
Powers and Abilities
Superhuman Attributes
Testament is a being of otherworldly power, a Hellion - a spirit of vengeance - willingly attached to a human host. As such, he is capable of abnormal feats of strength, easily in excess of the Class 50-ton marker.
His durability however is more substantial, as he is unable to directly be harmed through physical contact. One can keep hitting him and he wouldn't technically feel a thing, but damage done to the Hellion with holy objects is devastating. That being said, it is entirely possible to incapacitate Testament with physical dismemberment or heavy enough strikes, objects, et cetera.
Continuing from his seeming invulnerability to blunt force trauma, Testament is capable of reintegrating body parts given enough time. He is unable to fully regenerate from nothing, but if he is reduced to a state from which he cannot recover, the nearest graveyard acts as a "respawn point" that he crawls out of fully recovered.
As is to be expected, he is completely immune to the effects of fire, or explosives outside of the kinetic force involved.
Hellfire Generation and Manipulation
With the name implying the depths of this power, Testament's actual control of these projected Hellfire blasts is considered one of his mightiest weapons. Not only is he able to throw out large plumes of it or direct it in multiple directions at once, but he is also fully capable of coating chains or even his bare hands with the otherworldly element to increase the damage done by these implements of battle many times over.
He even knows how to "travel" along portals of Hellfire, though only for short distances.
Hellfire itself burns like napalm, sticking to a target and searing it away at temperatures that can melt steel. The defining characteristic of hellfire, however, is that the substance can continue being ignited and burn while underwater or in a place void of oxygen. The only way to stave off the burn seems to be dousing it in holy water.
Various Weapon Generation
Although hellfire remains one of Testament's most formidable avenues of attack, it is not his most iconic. That belongs to the chain whips that he is able to conjure seemingly out of thin air.
These chains behave just as any before or after, acting as Testament's go-to melee implement. They are, however, stronger in the fashion of being able to be used multiple times by the Hellion and in quick succession.
Other weapons of similar origin and use include smouldering branding irons, a Remington shotgun in the 1877 style, a Colt revolver in the 1860 style, ghoulish baseball bats wrapped in barbed wire, crowbars, railroad spikes, claw hammers, and open-end wrenches. All of these are fully able to withstand being coated in or shooting out hellfire.
"Cry for Vengeance" Hellbike
Perhaps the most recognizable part of Testament's arsenal (other than his flaming skull for a face) is the roaring and thunderous noise his motorbike causes. The specially-made forged-in-Hell-itself Fist-of-the-Devil "Cry for Vengeance" is a monstrous behemoth, a true fusion of magic and science. Able to reach towering speeds far in excess of 500 miles per hour, the beast constantly emits choking plumes of smoke and hellfire.
It cannot be stopped by vertical surfaces or by any amount of firepower, making it far more durable than Testament himself is. Even wrecks at the top end of its blinding speed spectrum do nothing to its formidable hull.
Even then, the bike returns to the Hellion regardless of distance or if Testament is actually alive or not. If he is completely destroyed, the "Cry for Vengeance" is the first one to the graveyard where he will crawl his way out of again.
