I just made a perfectly reasonable thread and it was locked immediately. No chance at all for users to discuss the moderation system. Why are the mods so scared of anyone questioning their authority?
I think comicvine mods should be more accountable to the user's they're moderating. Here are some proposals.
1) When locking threads moderators should post an explanation as to why the thread is being locked. This request should be a given and not have to be requested by the OP.
2) Comicvine moderators who show favoritism should be given sanctions such as temp bans for a few hours and if they consistently practice this behavior they should lose their moderator status. It sounds harsh but as mods I feel they ought to more accountable for their actions than the average user.
3) Mods should enforce rules on other mods. As it stands only staff members can be comfortably approached if you have something to say about a mod. As we learned from the Erik incident the mods will work together to ban a user who dares challenge the authority of one of their own. My proposal would require a staff members approval. Any mod caught being lenient towards another mod should immediately lose their moderator status.
