Favorite Top 20 Comic Book Movies

This list is based on my personal opinion and enjoyment of these live-action and animated films

List items

  • Suicide Squad would've been the best movie had it been like this one. The animation, plot, character development, character relationships and action scenes stood out really well and as a fan of the Arkham series video games, I couldn't leave this movie off the list.

  • My favorite Spiderman movie to date. Everything about was really great though I have no idea why its sequel suddenly dropped off in quality.

  • Alternate realities are rarely explored in comic book movies but not this one. The shift between them created interesting character dynamics and backstories that could make your imagination go wild. With that all said and done, there is a valuable lesson to be learnt.

  • My favorite and best MCU movie to date. It will probably remain the best as the peak as been set really high for any future new comic book movies to surpass.

  • Still think Superman being a boyscout is a bad thing? This movie delivers a powerful message from the Man of Steel and one that captures the heart of what Superman is really all about.

  • I can't wait until Ben Affleck directs a live-action version of this movie. I only hope Warner Bros learns their lessons about meddling with someone else's work.

  • Not as good as Winter Soldier but getting there. It was nearly perfect in every way except for a few plot details and a mismatched fight turned into a legit one.

  • The best live-action Batman movie to date with memorable quotes, great plot and character development. This movie would've been perfect had the action scenes been much better but nevertheless it was brilliant in all other aspects.

  • The first and favorite MCU movie for a long time. As the initial instalment of a success franchise, there was no standard for it to compare to. This film to this day is still the benchmark for what a truly great MCU movie is to be like.

  • Aside from Bruce Timm's weird fantasies, this movie is not as bad as some say it is. Pushing aside the Batgirl stuff, it was a remarkable thriller that had me entertained and thinking critically of the message that was being sent.

  • There's a reason this movie received the most money. The first ever team mate of different solo heroes jammed pack with action and excitement means it deserves to be on my list.

  • The best thing that could happen to this version of Batman. Its TV series was so far off from Bruce Timm's TAS it felt like DC really messed it up but having seen this, I take that back.

  • X-Men movies haven't been kind to us but X2 was different to others in which deeper relationships between mankind and mutant kind were actually explored. This is still the best X-Men movie to date.

  • From Tobey Maguire to Andrew Garfield. I was initially critically of Garfield but he did much better than I expected. This movie was good enough as reboot.

  • The first of a newly rebooted Batman franchise that actually gave an origin to the character. It highlighted one of the greatest journeys of any comic book character from transitioning into a hero.

  • This movie is exactly how a live-action Green Lantern should've been. I was disappointed in what Warner Bros released in 2011 but finding this has reassured my faith in the character of Hal Jordan.

  • The newly relaunched X-Men franchise showed signs of promise and one that had me looking forward to what the future would bring. The future wasn't too bright unfortunately but this was still a great standalone movie by itself.

  • I never had much respect for the character of Wonder Woman until I saw this movie. Its easy to assume she's just a sexist lady who dresses stupid but there's a lot more to her than what we would initially perceive her to be. I only hope that her DCEU movie would touch upon this same journey I myself surprisingly enjoyed.

  • The first Spiderman movie I saw is still alive and well on this list. It was honestly through this film that I grew to love this character and I don't regret it one bit. I've seen better movies since then but this one will always stay here.

  • This movie was too hilarious to leave off this list.
