"Cyclops Was Right" Can't Complain Now, Logan 0

I haven't done a comic review in awhile on here, but some of my friends on here have asked me my opinion of this and I've given brief ideas, but I can actually get something more fleshed out, out there now. So let's get to it:The Good: Not a whole lot to be said here. I'm actually sitting here gritting my teeth thinking about I liked about this....Wolverine isn't acting like a complete wimp anymore. 6 months ago we get him crying about shaving and allergies, now we get him shooting people dead....

We finally get Savage! 1

Haven't written a review in....a month or two I think? Anyways....let's move get to it.Good: I enjoyed this issue quite a bit. I think a lot of that stemmed from great character interactions, the dialogue flowed smoothly, and we get to see that side of Wolverine that a lot of fans of the character have probably missed; the killer one. Yes, the willing to get his hands dirty Logan that people love. It was good seeing the Elektra and Wolverine team up again. I think the characters complement each...

Pick your poison...er..Venom...Toxin. 1

"I drank what?" - Socrates. Dark humor and topic related puns aside, this issue was awesome. Good: The issue was just fantastic. Bunn and Shalvey have a fantastic chemistry together. Bunn is continuing to push Flash as still suffering and distant from people, but understandably so in his position and what he has been through. But, he pushes beyond that when saving people. To me, Flash at this point has become almost a mirror of Kaine as far as personalities go. Kaine just being a bit more vici...

A Step Up From Batroc's Face. 1

"Allo, mon ami! Zat is your jaw -- and zis is ze foot of Gambit--Gambit ze thief!" Batroc kicking Batman's face quotes aside, this issue a was big step up for the series IMO and I've liked it general.Good: The dialogue. The dialogue sold me on it and here is why. Asmus had a big, diverse cast of characters in the issue and he did a good job at making their conversations flow fluidly. From Gambit being serious, to his quips, to the nerdy AIM agent, to Tombstone being a pimp, to fricken BATROC ZE ...

Winter Solace 1

The Good: From head to toe, the issue was fantastic. The story Brubaker has weaved has easily been my favorite comic title of the past year. He always finds a way to suck you in with Bucky. The story was great, fast paced at certain points but intense throughout. The dialogue flowed smoothly and the artwork was a fantastic compliment to the issue. The issue also manages to tug at your heart strings with the end and it is bittersweet by every definition of the word and you see how much Bucky real...

Like a brutal, calculating, honorable BA Wolverine? Get it 2

I was originally not gonna get this book but I was at the shop and was like...meh. Well, I am glad I did. This is probably gonna be my favorite Wolverine written in some time. But I'll explain that in the good section.Good: The premise of the story I guess so far is up for grabs to me. It seems kind of cliched but then again, what doesn't these days? Jokes aside, the premise seems solid enough that I grabbed it. Logan has no memory of waking up on the island but instantly knows it is the Savage ...

By Odin's Bulbous Big Toe, I Love This Book. 0

Review Time.Good: This is easily my favorite Marvel NOW title so far and we are two issues into it. Jason Aaron is doing amazing on this series so far. He takes 3 different timelines in a single book and mixes them so well, granted this issue stayed in mostly 1 era. We start with cocky young Thor attempting to lift Mjolnir and we get a bit of humor which Aaron is good and even does so in Thor's own special way with the Odin * insert adjective followed by random body part here*. We get to see how...

Just snikt me already. 0

Good: Quite honestly, I can't think of anything. I just know it can be so much better than this. Aaron just give this title a little focus and it will work wonders. He can write a great Wolverine and I have quickly latched onto Warbird, Broo, and Quire as characters under his pen so far, he just needs a focus instead of these 2 issue arcs followed by a filler then another arc starter followed by a bio issue on some character and then presume with said arc. At least Bradshaw is on the title.Bad: ...

The mission is a Cich 0

Corny titles aside, let's get to it. I like this series so far. To some it has been fun and refreshing, to others it has been a bit lackluster. So I have good things to say.Good: Asmus gets Gambit. He gets the character's dialogue. He gets his personality, he gets his charm, he gets his powers (for the most part) and has been a little unique with them like lighting up the bacteria to get the password. The issue this time had all around solid dialogue, good character interactions and the end got ...

Time to go back to Earth.. 0

Haven't written a review in awhile, so heeeeere we go.Good: Let's start off with the action. The action was solid and provided enough room for Starfire to take center stage again with Roy providing narration. Watching Starfire and Blackfire mow down Blight forces was pretty cool. We get some quick action spots of Roy, Jason, and Orn so they could get some face time. I really liked DePalo's scene too. He wasn't a major character and it might have been a little cliched of a scene, but hitting the ...

Little late review but whatevs 0

The Good: The issue was ok. I didn't find a whole lot standing out but it's come to be what I'd expect from Lobdell on this book. What I liked is the prominence of Roy as of late. I like that Lobdell is taking time to focus on other characters and not just focusing time on Jason which he really hasn't to a huge degree in this book. Roy has shown to be pretty clever even with operating the Starfire ship and his whole scheme to rescue Blackfire. We get good dynamics between the characters as usual...

Almost finished. 1

Good: I thoroughly enjoyed this issue. We didn't get a whole lot of fighting here but what we got was very solid interactions between the characters putting certain things into perspective and what was going through the head of them during the events just a few issues prior to and up to AvX 11. We see Magik is still damaged, she is mentally psycho and watching Colossus snap like that was kind of awesome but you can really tell the emotion behind his actions. We get Emma and Scott being Emma and ...

S'rite. 0

Good: I haven't written a review in a bit so here we go. The dialogue was generally solid as usual with Gillen, he writes a good Emma. I liked Betsy's ranting through out as she pulled some awesome ninja tricks before sticking Magneto. I also liked that the more background characters of the Extinction team were getting more focus. They are all such great characters and especially with the P5 being the focal point so it is hard to do so.The Bad: I can't really say anything was terrible either. Th...

I promised myself I wouldn't do this. 4

I promised myself I wouldn't review one of the main issues of the series but lo and behold, I am.The Good: We get Storm and Black Panther's marriage annulled which is something that fans have wanted for quite awhile. The dialogue and character interactions was generally solid IMO but nothing great. Emma and Scott had a solid interaction before Scott went all Maddie Pryor 2.0 on her and left for Hope when she needed it. I still think his obsession with her is over the top but that's just me and I...

Kori reaching bawse status. 0

Good: Again, everything. The characters have plenty of good interactions with each other. Lobdell shows why Starfire really trusts Jason and Roy and respects their opinions. She really did awesome dealing with the whole squadron of alien ships, despite her ship taking some damage. I think it showed she is actually pretty intelligent and is a capable starship commander. The moment with Roy talking to her was probably the best moment in the comic for me. I think that scene was well done and even w...

Kori steps up. 0

Good: Er'rything is good. It's what I've come to expect from Lobdell now. The smooth and solid dialogue, decent action, a good laugh here and there. I also did not expect Isabel to show up but it seemed like they have a plan for her since she got teleported onto the ship. I also like how she was just really cool with Jason lying. I feel like I'm getting repetitive with these reviews for RHTO but this is by far one of the best New52 titles IMO and has been my favorite since day one. Lobdell has d...

Warbird's Song. 0

Good: The issue was good. We get another, for the most part, focused issue but this time on Warbird and her backstory. I enjoyed her story and how she came to be the warrior she is today. I don't think I've latched onto a character as fast as her. I enjoyed how she was unafraid to stand up the P5 and even stood off against Emma briefly. The dialogue between characters was well written, I really like Aaron writing Emma. He has her down pretty well. The fighting was pretty good too and watching Cy...

Kid Gladiator>>Avengers 0

Good: I liked the issue focusing on Rachel. I think it gave a good idea on how she feels about all of this. The Avengers getting beat up by Kid Gladiator was funny. I really hate Pym so I liked watching KG punch him in the eye. The dialogue was the good, the fighting was ok and as I said before, the in-depth on Rachel was the best part of the issue.Bad: I don't like Bachalo in the big fight books. I have nothing against him, some issues I like his artwork and all that but in these fighting issue...

Phoenix Five: Bailed out by Mags Force Four? 0

Good: I have mixed feelings about this issue. What I found good was Sinister's way of dealing with the P5 by using everything as a weapon and I mean everything. Emma getting attacked by wheat and exploding crops was just awesome. Using dozens of Cyke clones as a big cannon was cool and of course the kamikaze Gambits were kind of funny since they just dive bombed Colossus while screaming ma chere.Bad: What I disliked the most was how the P5 seemed to be taken out so easily. I know Sinister preppe...

Slow and steady 0

The Good: For the most part the issue was solid but nothing spectacular. I'm glad we got the Colossus/Phoenix/Juggernaut thing cleared up. The dialogue between the characters was well written which is something to expect as of Gillen by now. He knows how to interact the characters with each other and still progress the story. I'm still glad Unit is around and his control over Danger is still there and he even made her crack a joke....sort of. I wonder what will happen with him when this is all o...

Killing 3 birds with a smaller bird. 0

The Good: Now I'm not a huge Damian fan. In fact, I hate the character. So I came into this issue thinking it was going to solely be a Damian beats the other 3 Robins, who I actually and Jason being one of my favorite characters, in a fight with some obvious plot protections and the like but...this issue set up to prove me wrong. Damian is shown to have a great dynamic with each of the Robins. The dialogue between all of them even at once moves smoothly and enjoyable while building up Damian's c...

Meh 0

The Good: This issue didn't really have much going for it. We have a page or two of the main X-Men on the moon ready to fight against the Avengers as they charge with Hope and Wolverine in the middle. We break to Magneto and Psylocke meeting Storm and a Satan gooed Dr. Nemesis with some messed thinky thoughts. His words, not mine. We get a brief recap of what happened with Storm and Black Panther and Betsy and Red Hulk breaking her arm. Magneto toasts the 5 brave mutant souls on the moon wishing...

A Little late writing this, but why not? 0

The Good: I've dipped in and out of WATXM but the series is pretty good every time I pick up an issue. I think the X-Men tie ins for AvX have been consistently better than the main books, at least speaking for this series and Uncanny X-Men since I haven't picked up the others yet. Aaron with me is either hit or miss and he hit the mark this issue. Seeing some of the X-Men in brief fights with a touch of humor takes away some of the garbage from the main books and adds a touch good. "Iceman Smash...

From Tapeworms to Space Kitties. Sorry Warpath 4

The Good: The issue was great actually. We get very little of Scott here as the focus shifts to another character for a change giving it some fresh air (even though he is my favorite character). We get to see 2 sides of Namor that should be shown more often. We see a smart side when he shows his tactical knowledge in warfare and we see plenty of humorous lines with him. Gillen also managed to write the Thing very well in this issue. We get the return of the Savage and the Tapeworm Queen who also...

Ice ice Hoodie. 0

The Good For the most part the issue was ok but somewhat lacking compared to the other tie ins. The dialogue for the majority of the issue was good though there were a few lines that were meh. The Talon fight was underwhelming but Jason finding a kindred spirit in the Talon and putting him out of his misery was a good spot IMO. The art is always good and the last line with the "Tell Bruce he is welcome" made me smile. The Bad: As I said before the issue was underwhelming. The Talon fight wasn't r...

Been wanting to review this series. 0

The Good: The story was great. Seeing the unique team of Dr. Doom, Widow, Fury and Bucky could have easily been messed up IMO, but Brubaker made the dialogue balance each other out. The action in the issue good. Watching Doom dismantle Von Bardas was awesome and Natty fighting a bunch of super gorillas was kind of funny to me and Bucky reminiscing about the sleeper agents he trained was a nice touch. The art for me was something to get used to but I can say now since the first issue, it has grow...

Saving AvsuX. 0

The Good: I've voiced my opinion over the past few weeks on this event in various forums and after taking time to read the main books, I've been proven right so far in questionable writing, a poor practically non-existent plot and John Romita JR's artwork drawing everyone as if they were from Superhero Squad at times. I've also voiced my opinion on how I've enjoyed Gillen's take on UXM. So I may seem biased here, but I'm not. My disdain for this event is very high, nothing against the writers pe...

Fatburned 0

The Good: I liked this issue a lot. I think it was a good lead into the upcoming crossover. The dialogue and interactions with the characters was good.It answered who Suzie Su was and whys he had a vendetta against Jason. It had a few good chuckles especially with Kori vaporizing the goons who themselves were stupidly funny. Also it seems there might be a possible Roy and Kori relationship brewing after Roy said he needs to take her on a date. Suzie wasn't a big threat, which I didn't expect her...

A Unit of Good. 3

The Good: This issue was great. I feel again Gillen is setting the stage for something for a few things in the future which he has done in the end of a few issues. And I like how for me at least, he knows how to completely flip an opinion but then changes it back. Like Unit, he comes off as a bad guy when he killed the humans then took Hope, then fought the X-men but merely in self defense as he just talked with Hope. Then at the end of the issue he gives off another villainous vibe. As a huge E...

The Last Sup..er Team Up? 0

Good: The issue was fairly pleasant. I like Pacheco's art at times, even though I think it is a step down from Land (even if he does trace) The dialogue between characters was done well and they are starting to advance some points that fans might have been asking themselves like with Magik's detainment on the brig and Colossus finally having enough of it or trying to talk with Scott. Emma's back which I am happy for, I think Gillen has done a wonderful job getting the character back in her stron...

Tapewormed 4

The Good I really liked this issue. I think the dialogue between the characters was spot on and the issue offered some good laughs from Namor and Hope. Emma's one liner at the end was pretty good too. It tied most of the missing pieces of the arc together. My favorite part of the issue was it had a feel good air about it IMO, aside from the Colossus scene and the ending. The X-Men on Cyclops' side desperately needed a break from all the doom and gloom. I'm really liking Gillen's writing, he's ma...

The Unwhat? 0

Good: I think this was a step up from the previous issue. The fight was alright but I think the surprises in the issue is what I enjoyed. The Immortal Man at first I thought was a Celestial due to issue 5 calling it a god, but it turning out to be another "Apex" surprised me. I enjoyed the versatility and adaptability the Immortal Man has. Like in a short time it adapted to counter Magneto's powers and then it systematically took out the X-team that was there. I think the Immortal Man is an inte...

The Savage? 0

The Good: I thought the issue was alright. The fight between Magneto, Pyslocke and the Immortal Man was kind of cool. Magneto using his helmet as shrapnel was pretty cool IMO, I haven't seen him do anything like that before. Land's artwork is good for the most part, the Colossus "jugging out" artwork was I think awesome. And the Savage's appearance completely caught me by surprise. The dialogue between characters varied, Cyclops explaining what happened was kind of funny. I'm not a huge fan of t...

A break from the action but still fantastic. 1

The Good: Everything was great. Though the issue spanned entirely of Starfire and Jason interacting, it was done perfectly. I loved how they came to know each other. I loved the revealing of both their pasts and just accepting each other as who they are. Jason was always so down on himself with hate and anger, Starfire has issues with her memory. Her memories are there but certain things she just can't remember. She remembers the adventures and nights with Grayson but can't put a finger on his n...

White to Purple. 4

The Good: This issue was good. I know a lot of people don't like Land, but I think his artwork for the most part is really good for the most part. I liked how most of the characters looked. I liked the interactions between the characters as well in the issue. The exchange between Hope and Namor was kind of funny, Colossus wasn't a total emo and Psylocke and Magneto's conversation was interesting. I did think Cyclops randomly getting sucked in the ground was kind of funny too. The cliffhangers of...

Letting Go but Gaining More 2

The Good: This issue was absolutely fantastic. This issue had major revelations for the characters and the team itself. We finally see Jason let go of his ideas on revenge for the wrongs that were caused to him by Bruce and Joker completely. Jason has a new goal and it is for the greater good in the end of it but still showed that he isn't getting rid of the "outlaw" attitude due to commentary after his fight. Roy mans up and shows that he isn't one to be messed with when he wants to be and he i...

X-ing out the Avengers. 1

The Good: This issue was pretty good. It showed that the X-men are starting to own up to that claim about being Earth's mightiest team. With Cyclops staring down Celestials and the people showing fear but what seemed like a respectful kind of fear instead a hateful fear to me shows that things are starting to look up for the team. The artwork was great, the whole concept behind the issues so far have been surprisingly good since coming off of how bad Schism was.The Bad: The Sinister Species just...

All Good in the Red Hood. 0

The Good: Between the somewhat cliched jokes, the college like humor and the fight scenes, Red Hood and the Outlaws has become my favorite of the new 52 books. The issue gave me a few laughs, it had a few action scenes and with the artwork it all mingled well. The issue spread out between the characters and focused a bit more on Starfire who had the main fight of the issue and is expanding her character as a warrior princess. This issue seems to be setting Roy up towards the next issue as a bigg...
