1) The Dark Knight, by a wide margin. It's my favourite movie overall after Shawshank. Probably the best theatre experience at the time and it is still the most serious and best written CBM.
I mean, that could be the only Batman movie and I would still like Batman or Joker more than any other Marvel or DC character. I am a big Batman fan since I was a child, besides some characters, my interest in DC has always been Batman.
2) Batman Begins, by a wide margin again. It's the best narrative movie and origin story in CBMs in my opinion. It has a great style and pacing and it does not feel outdated.
The league of shadows part is one of the best part of the movie and it enters in Bruce Wayne's psyche and why he becomes Batman. The score is amazing, the villain has a strong connection with the protagonist and has solid motivations. The action scenes are good, the cinematography is 10/10. I rewatched it and honestly liked it from the first second to the end.
3) Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The best marvel movie, it has a serious and gritty tone that others MCU movies don't have. It has a decent villain, great action scenes... probably the best for street tiers fights. The soundtrack is decent and Cap has a change during the movie, I also liked the plot and overall it's a complete movie.
4) Joker. One of the best origin story's in fiction, it has the greatest performance in CBMs (besides Ledger's joker) and a great performance by De Niro. The soundtrack is perfect for the tone of the movie, the Murray scene and 3rd act is 10/10. The cinematography is dark and gives a sense of Chaos basically. I did not even care about Shazam or Birds of Prey since DC released this, this year. It's more than enough.
It has a serious take on the society, and it is a movie that you can watch seriously.
5) Avengers Infinity War. One of the most fun MCU movies and overall it's filled with great action sequences, a good villain and a decent plot.
There is not much to explain there but I can rewatch it multiple times and even more than the 4 movies that I rate higher than this.
The other movies I have in the top 10 are;
TDKR, AoU, Spider Man, Thor:Ragnarok and Wonder Woman.
@frozen: Good list. Like Chaos said, especially the first two numbers. It earns the place as the best superhero movie of all time (if it even is a superhero movie) and Heath Ledger did an amazing performance as Joker. Joaquin Phoenix did an amazing job as the Joker too.
But why did you put The Dark Knight Rises over Batman Begins?
I like Marvel more than DC by miles in movies but there is no comparison between DC top films. They are overall top quality CBMs and even great films on their own IMO.
A pretty sensible list I would've gone for a lot of similar choices except would replace Logan with X-Men Days of Future Past. Logan feels overrated it was just an above average movie for me.
@manmadeofhunter: Thanks. I agree that TDK is no1. I seriously doubt it will ever be topped.
As to why I put TDKR above Begins, I just think it's a superior film. I think it conveys the scale of the situation much better than Begins does, and has more compelling character arc. The third act is also much more riveting, whereas Begins 3rd act is a bit CGI-ey/studio interference.
To me, TDK and TDKR seem to be more "Nolan-esque". Begins has the Nolan stamp, but I can see the studio interference.
Worst CBM list is a good idea. I might do that actually.
