Laxus Dreyar, The Lightning Dragon Slayer.

Name: Laxus Dreyar

Age: 23

Height: 6’3

Weight: 225 lbs

Laxus came to with his back flat on the moving grass in the soft breeze. He couldn’t move most of his body, except for his right arm. He raised it, as if he was reaching out for someone, his lips trembled looking like he was calling out to someone, but instead he was only greeted by a blinding light filling his view of sight, until he faded out of consciousness.

An old man, the size of a child, sat on top of a bartop with his legs crossed beneath him. His left hand on his thigh, while his right held a wooden beer mug, that was presently parallel to the bar top under the ‘frail’ man. As he set the mug down to the side, he wiped his mouth of the leftover foam. The ‘frail’ man’s name was Makarov Dreyar, also known as his title as one of the Ten Wizard Saints of Fiore. A prestigious group of Wizards known for being the most powerful in the land of Fiore.

A young blonde boy, with a lightning bolt on his red shirt, ran towards the bar top. The look in his eyes as he came to immediate stop was clearly a sign of excitement and accomplishment. He waited for the old man above him to speak, out of pure respect.

“Laxus,” Makarov showed signs of excitement and well as pride as he looked down at the child, “ to what do I owe the---” The youngling had tried his best to keep his eagerness under control, but it had finally burst before Makarov could finish his sentence.

“Gramps! I have to show you something” a smirk came across Makarov’s face as he extended his arm in front of him, as to give his grandson the go ahead. Laxus planted his feet beneath him in a wide base, he brought his hands in front of his chest. It looked like he was grabbing an invisible ball to the untrained eye, but to a wizard it was obvious that the child was gathering energy. Sparks began to form in between the young Laxus’s hands, and a ball of electricity began to form until it was the size of a golf ball. Laxus was struggling, it was obvious that gather the energy and sustaining the magic was taking out a lot from him. Laxus put all the energy into his right hand and launched it towards a wooden chair. As the magical lightning ball made contact with the chair, the chair exploded with wooden debris flying in every direction throughout the room. The barkeep had seen the showing and despite being unhappy with such thing happening in the room, he decided to let it slide considering Makarov’s title as one of the Ten Wizard Saints.

Laxus was still trying to catch his breath when he turned around to see what his grandfather thought. Makarov greeted his grandson with a wide smile, as to approve the showing of Laxus’ magical power. Laxus was full of happiness after Makarov’s approval. Laxus knew of his grandfather’s title, and the grandson saw it as goal to get his grandfather’s approval over everything, especially magic. “See Gramps, I’m getting stronger, one day I’m going to be a Wizard Saint. I’m going to be the greatest Wizard to grace Fiore,” Makarov enjoyed seeing Laxus full of dreams of somewhat following in his grandfather's steps, “and then the people will have to look to me as their leader.” Makarov’s cheerful demeanor changed to a more serious attitude after he processed the words the young Lightning Wizard had stated. “Laxus!” This was to get the attention of the young boy, who was so hyper that he had been rambling on, but as soon as he heard his grandfather say his name he focus all of his attention to what he was going to say.

“If you want to be the greatest Wizard in Fiore, that’s wonderful and I fully support you, but being a great wizard and being a leader is much more than being a strong magic user.” Laxus wasn’t quite understanding what his grandfather was saying to him, “What do you mean?” Makarov remembered he was speaking to a young child, and realized he had to make it simpler.

“Being strong doesn’t always mean you are fit to lead, and just having a lot of magical power does not make you a great wizard. A leader needs character to lead, he must be loyal, he must be someone people look to for guidance. Do you understand?” Laxus had understood the gist of what his idol was saying, he needed to be more than just a strong wizard. The young lightning wizard believed he might have upset his grandfather, and Makarov had noticed this. He looked at the boy and said, “ Now let’s see if you can get the table.” Laxus lit up with joy as he started to get in the same stance as before.

Laxus awoke once again with his back flat on the ground, the soft breeze had become aggressive while he was unconscious. His right arm was still raised as if he was reaching out to someone, but it wasn’t met with anyone. His open hand began to close into a fist as if he was cursing someone, rain clouds began to form in the sky above him, and that was the last thing he saw as he faded out once again.

Laxus ran home to tell, Makarov’s son, Ivan about what had happened today with his grandfather. He was still wound up from hanging out with Makarov and still happy that he had gotten his grandfather’s approval. Laxus closed the door behind him, he looked through the house, but wasn’t able to find his father until he went to the backyard. “Dad! Dad! I showed Gramps that I’ve been working on my magic, and we talked about me becoming a Wizard Saint.” Laxus began to ramble again, but hearing Wizard Saint was the only thing that had actually gotten Ivan’s attention. He looked over at his son, “Oh Laxus, you’re home.” Ivan always seemed too busy for his son, even Laxus had noticed this, which is why, he usually saw his Grandfather as his father figure. “ DAD!” Laxus’ voice was now full of anger. Ivan rose his hand as if he was going to hit Laxus, and Laxus cowered as if he had seen the result of what his father would do. “I’m sorry, but I was just saying Gramps and I were discussing me becoming a Wizard Saint.” Ivan finally faced towards his son, “Why would you think you had any chance of becoming a Wizard Saint?” It seemed whenever Makarov brought Laxus up, his father would tear him down. “Because of this.” Laxus got in the same position, he did before when he was with his grandfather, this time focusing on a large boulder in their backyard. He charged everything up, just as he did before, and released it, but the end result was much different. It had barely even put a dent in the oversized rock, and Ivan wasn’t pleased as if the five seconds Laxus had taken up were all a waste. Laxus was devastated, he thought for sure the rock was going to crumble. Ivan spoke looking away from his son, “Laxus, if that is all the strength you have now, there is no chance you will become a Wizard Saint. Wizard Saints are strong, even at an early age, and what you just showed me, wasn’t power or strength, it was weakness.” “Dad, I tried.” Laxus was now sobbing as he slouched to floor.

“TRYING IS NOT ENOUGH LAXUS, A MAN DOES OR DOES NOT. There is no trying in life, great wizards do not try, great wizards do. You can try all you want for the rest of your life to become a wizard saint, but your magic power is too weak.” Ivan reached into his bag that was around his shoulder. “I’ve known for awhile that you weren’t fit to be a great wizard, Laxus, but I will be damned if my only flesh and blood will be the joke of Fiore.” Ivan had finally pulled out a sphere from his bag, “This is a Dragon Lacrima, it will make you stronger Laxus.” Laxus rose from his legs. He was in awe of his father’s possession, in the center of the Dragon Lacrima was a lightning bolt that seemed to be processing a very strong of amount of electricity. “This is mine?” Laxus couldn’t help, but feeling as if this possession was made for him, as if it was fate that he would come across this. Ivan turned his son around as he readied the magical orb to be bonded with his son. Laxus was ecstatic, he was ready to be strong, he was ready to make his father just as he did his Grandfather.

Lightning bolts began to fill the sky above Laxus, the once soft breeze and nice grass had now became what seemed to be the eye of the storm. Laxus’s single raised arm started to get its own electrical charge, but he still wasn’t able to move his body. The Lightning Dragon Slayer couldn’t help, but wonder where he was now. The way his body felt combined with the feel of the land, he could just tell he wasn’t in Fiore anymore. The more he thought about it, the more it made sense as to why he couldn’t move, it could be that he was physically damaged while out of magical power causing his body to somewhat shutdown, and if that was the case, it would make sense why he kept fading in and out of consciousness.

Laxus a little older now, but still able to fit into his red shirt, stood outside in the open. Across from him was an older gentleman, a wizard to be exact, covered in battle armor. Above them was a Laxus’ father and Makarov’s son Ivan. Laxus was having trouble still standing, his breathing was deep long breaths, and his body seemed as if he had gone through a war zone.

“If you have enough time to draw a breath, you have time to move! Attacking is everything. Even if you are inferior in strength always forge ahead! This is how the strong, how champions are born!” Ivan shouted down at his son, while Laxus’s opponent fired another concentrated magical blast towards the young Dragon Slayer causing Laxus to fall back and collapse in rubble.

Ivan scowled at his son being taken out with what he considered such a weak attack. “Stand Laxus! Stand now, or I will see to it that you never stand again.” Ivan turned towards the opponent and ordered him to continue. The magic user was ready to disintegrate Laxus, leaving little to no trace of him left. He released the attack in a matter of seconds, the attack hit clean where Laxus was. No trace of him was there, it was as if the blast had wiped away his existence. Ivan was disgusted the result, he began to turn away from the fight, when there was a thunderous noise on the battlefield. Lightning had struck right behind Laxus’s opponent, it was Laxus. He had performed Lightning body in a matter of seconds before his opponent’s attack. Electricity formed around his right hand as he delivered a straight hook to the back of his opponent’s head. This amount of electricity storming through his enemy’s body caused it to shut down. He was temporarily paralyzed from the move. Laxus stopped in his tracks, worried for the man’s life, “I’ll help you,” he screamed at the fallen warrior.

“What are you doing Laxus? Will you not finish him off?” Laxus was caught off guard by his father’s words. “The defeated are weak. The weak are worms. Worms need none of your sympathy, you just think of trampling them.”

“But he is our comrade.” Laxus pleaded.

“”Comrades” are an expression of the weak, loyalty is a trait of the weak. If you are my son Laxus, set your eyes on something more important, power is all that matters.”

Ivan was tired of the back and forth between his son, “If you cannot do it, I will.” Ivan rose his arm towards the fallen comrade, “Begone.” A purple energy formed around the warrior, and in the blink of an eye, he was no more. Laxus collapsed to his knees, “How could you?” Tears fell from his eyes as he couldn’t process what he had just seen.

“Don’t cry. How long are you going to keep this up?! Tears are the height of weakness! How many times must I say that before you understand?!”

“Please forgive me….Please forgive me…”Please forgive me…” Laxus repeatedly said in between sobbing over and over.

Laxus’ fist was finally greeted by a straight lightning bolt, as if he was a human lightning rod. More lightning continued to strike him, each hit gave him more mobility throughout his body. After a couple moments, he was finally able to sit up, a smirk had come across his face the lightning continued to hit him over and over. Each lightning strike gave him more energy, and the constant fading in and out of consciousness seemed to have reset his magical power back to the state it was on Fiore. Laxus rose to his feet, slowly dusting himself off. He put his arm straight in the air, and sent out some of the electricity he had received straight back into the air. The storm clouds faded away, and the wind began to soften. Laxus began to walk off, eager to claim his new land, and ready to wipe out those who stood before him.

Abilities and Skills:

  • Lightning Magic - Laxus’ most dominant kind of Magic is Lightning Magic. This kind of magic allows his to produce and manipulate lightning and electricity at his will, having a complete control over its manifestation. The effects of this type of magic depends on the user, meaning it can be hot enough to heat up a cup of tea or destructive enough to destroy a hill. The lightning cannot only generate from his body, but he can also make it appear anywhere to strike his enemies. Laxus tends to use this kind of magic to enhance his own fighting style by generating electricity on different parts of his body to make his melee attacks stronger and also using it to propel himself around to gain extra momentum. Another effect of the lightning magic is using its brightnest to temporarily blind the opponent.

    • Lightning Body - Laxus is capable of transforming his body completely into electricity, turning himself into a lightning bolt making him intangible to physical and magical attacks, this form also grants him traits of lightning such as moving around at high speeds during a battle but Laxus tends to not use this often in battles for some unknown reason. He can also travel long distances somewhat like teleporting from place to place in the form of lightning.

  • Lightning Dragon Slayer Magic - A form of dragon slayer magic, which gives its user (Laxus) the characteristics of a lightning dragon along with a dragon slayer’s capability of to eat external sources to his element to heal himself and regain power, as a result making him immune to lightning. Laxus was gifted with this kind of magic as a result of his father planting a Dragon Lacrima within him.

    • Raging Bolt - Laxus places his left hand right under his extended right arm as his right hand points like a gun. When he fires his hand at the target a large bolt of lightning will descend upon the target. This effect has shown to leave a sizeable crater from its destruction

      • .

    • Lightning Dragon Roar- Laxus, like other Dragon Slayers, can generate elemental (lightning) in his mouth and releases it in a concentrated, destructive blast, capable of destroying everything in front of it in a wide area.

    • Magic Constructs - Laxus has shown the ability to construct his lightning into various things such as a spear, sword, a shield, and other things. The contrusts’ stability depends on Laxus’ mental focus, if he becomes distracted or concussed the construct will become unstable.

    • Lightning Breakdown Fist - Laxus gathers a large amount of electricity around one of his fists, he bends his arm, then extends his fist in a forward motion. This causes his magic seal to open, from which an over-sized fist, completely composed of lightning is generated and rapidly fired towards his opponent, aside from inflicting damage on his enemy, the electricity also stuns them for a short period of time.

  • Thought Projection - Laxus is capable of creating a thought projection of himself. Such intangible image of himself makes him impervious to any attack, and allows him to communicate over long distances without the need to leave his location or put himself at risk, but to perform this Laxus has to focus, somewhat meditate immensely.

  • Master Hand-to-Hand Combatant - Aside from his powerful, ranged Magic attacks, Laxus has shown a penchant for melee fighting, demonstrating great mastery in unarmed combat. His fighting style is an offensive, brutal and straightforward one, relying on a great variety of punches, kicks and even headbutts,[212] which are shown to be both strong and fast; such moves can also be combined with techniques from his Lightning Magic with extreme fluency to great effect:[213] using this trademark Magic of his, Laxus can create lightning orbs around his arms and legs before connecting punches and kicks, increasing their striking power, and move around much faster, propelling himself towards his opponents, by surrounding his entire body with lightning.

  • Immense Magic Power - Laxus possesses an immense level of Magic Power, which befitting his Magic, manifests itself in the form of electricity. This can take form from his body in various amounts like little sparks from his mouth, to a lightning aura full engulfing around his body, damaging the area around him.

  • Immense Durability - Another trait from the Dragon Lacrima was being gifted with the durability of a Dragon. His skin is like a Dragon’s making it very difficult for a blade to pierce his skin. Somewhat like a bullet-proof vest, it helps reduce the impact of bullets, and stops it from penetrating his inner organs.

  • Enhanced Strength - Through years of training and because the level of his magic power Laxus has enhanced strength. Making him capable of lifting up to around 800lbs to 4 tons.

  • Immense Endurance - Like many other strong Magic users, Laxus has immense endurance able to last longer without resources, able to perform at a greater length of time compared to your average human.

  • Immense Reflexes - Laxus has immense endurance meaning he has superior reaction over your average person.

  • Heightened Senses - Because of the Dragon Lacrima, Laxus was gifted with the senses of a dragon such as being able to smell a person’s exact body order from miles away, also being able to hear things from miles away, and being able to make things out exactly as they are, and his sight is also increased meaning he’s able to see things happening at a slower rate than your average person.

A New Beginning

What effect does power have on men? What does it change inside them? Does it cause them to do things they would never do? Does power really have that much effect on men?

It was a dark, silent night, in the streets of Manchester, England. Alexander the newest tourist, took pictures of the beautiful lights in the sky and some buildings as he passed them. His ‘vacation’, or time away from the usual Loner’s and Martial City, had gone quite well actually, no it had gone perfect. He met wonderful people like the Nippon Emperor, Shinji. Though Alexander could not understand his reason for his ritual suicide, because the Emperor was quite a nice gentlemen, besides him throwing out Alex because of a misunderstanding. Another wonderful person was, Jacques Martin, (Who unknown to Alex was actually the legendary Cajun himself Gambler.) He was actually nice, and also very interested in the pictures Alexander took of the Nippon Empire, Alex thought he might just be thinking of going there.

That’s enough of the past events, let’s get to what recently has happened.

It was a dark, silent night, in the streets of Manchester, England. Alex Smith took pictures of each of the buildings he passed. “St..Hi...” The KO Kid heard a disgruntled shout from a far distance, he squinted in the direction of it, to see flashlights and a figure running. Alexander stepped to the side and forward to ask “What?!” Alex was shoved to the ground by a muscular man, Instinct kicked in reversing the shove and slamming him straight into the side of a building. The man was no amateur, he threw a haymaker, which missed, but his leg sweep it spot on. Alex fell, but bounced right back up. There was a gunshot, near the flashlights and a gun war was heard. Alex was hammering the criminal, when two guys grabbed him. Alexander not going down without a fight, began to warm his outer temperature. Just as the ‘runner’ swung at Alex the men let go. Their hands were a bit crispy and starting to burn. Alex caught the punch, and punched the man in the face three times. The man fell to the wall, “It’s me, or them.” The other men rushed towards Alexander, but were sent back by an electrical force field. ASAP, grabbed the man, by his nice suit, his grey and white hair shined from the energy surrounding them. Alexander sent a punch to the nose, another one, and with the final right, Alex felt his nose cram straight into the head, the man fell instantly his eyes were glazed and all the air from within escaped.

The electric shield dispersed and he turned to face the other guys, but they stood still. Not trying to get the next hit. That’s when Alex saw it with a flash of light, Alex was swarmed by 15 men at least. They grabbed him, covering his head and Alexander tried to fight but these men were no shucks. He was thrown into a vehicle and carried away. After that, there was no blows, no blood. He awoke in a dark room, and began shouting, “WHERE AM I?! WHERE AM I?! ANSWER ME!!!” His chair was bolted down and his hands were bolted to the chair. A light turned on, and a man with jet black hair walked out. “Who are you?” Alex asked aggressively. The man was quite smooth in response, “The question is not who I am? It’s who you are.” The man threw Alex’s wallet at him, with the everything in it. “We have resources, that are unimaginable, but you have no trace.” The man pulled up a chair, “Then you take out one of the most dangerous men, Carter.” Alex did not respond. “We have a little tradition here,” The man pulled out a large knife, with a little black logo, “The Black Dragon says though who takes out,” he placed the large knife against Alex’s throat, “the top takes his place.” The man had a sinister look in his eyes, but then it broke into a smile and he pulled the knife away. He grabbed a key from his coat, and released Alex.

Alex was in awe, “Who was the Black Dragon? What did this man mean? What kind of trouble was he in?” were questions that ran wild. Alex was ordered to follow the man, he followed close paranoid. They exited the room, to a balcony, but not before the man said, “and so you have taken out the top, and the cycle must continue.” They exited and what seems to be dark black room, all of sudden turned to hundreds of people when they rose with fist. The man with slicked back hair shouted at the top of his lungs, “THE BLACK DRAGON WILL RISE ONCE AGAIN!!” the people echoed, “THE BLACK DRAGON, THE BLACK DRAGON, THE BLACK DRAGON!!!” Their fists rose in the air, and they turned to look at Alexander, the power had consumed him bit by bit. The look in his eyes were like that of a man that felt untouchable. “THE BLACK DRAGON RISES AGAIN!!!” The people once continued to echo again.

When Past Become Present.

Location: Martial City, North East 2 street, St. Cloud Inn, apartment room 324.

Time: 2:37 am

The room’s occupant is fast asleep, wearing nothing, but his boxers. He is still with the covers up to his abdomen. There seems to be a little smile forming on his face, his dream must be a good one.

(In the dream)

He’s a very young boy once again; he is being pushed on a park swing by his dad as his mom watches and waves at him. They’re happy, too happy. The swing stopped before he steps off, the once peaceful sunny sky is now clouded, thundering, and then lightning strikes. He closes his eyes by the sound. When he opens them it’s still raining, but he is covered under his family’s umbrella and there is a man straight across from him, with two huge men behind him. The man’s face is blank and black, his identity is unknown. The man and his parents speak among one another, he can’t make out the dialogue then he sees one huge man step towards him. His mom shouts “No!” They both grab his hand. Both grips are tight he’s simply too young and too small to fight them off, they are starting to hurt. “Think of it as collateral.” The man says his voice is recognizable, Alex has heard it before. The man raises a gun and Alex’s father pulls away his mom’s hand. “It’s just for now dear.” His dad said saddened by the events. The boy is now holding hands with the man, his mom is yelling, pleading for help. His father’s tears run down his face, he wants to do something, but he knows it would only result in a worst fate. The boy/Alex begins to cry that’s when the man leans down, “It’ll be fine. Hahaha,” and that’s when his face appears for the first time. The boy screams.

Alexander wakes up abruptly, his insane screaming is hidden by the lightning and thunder in the night sky. He switches his position to him sitting on the edge of the bed. He is drenched in sweat, this had been a reoccurring dream lately and he just wanted it gone as well with the memories.

He rises from the bed, opening the fridge. “I need a drink.” Alcohol, it made it easier, all of it the embarrassment from his old friend, the new thoughts of being just average, and most of all his past. That’s really why he wanted, no why he needed it. It got his mind away from all of it, thinking of nothing and being absolute drunk was better than being sober and letting the thoughts run rampant and wild. One drink, two drink, three drinks, eight drinks, 15 drinks, new bottle. One drink, two drink, three drinks, eight drinks, 15 drinks, new bottle. One drink, two drinks, thre…..drink….he finally rests on the kitchen table with his head dug into his arm.

Diversity among the Vine

I think Puzzler made a good point in one of his blogs, when he was talking about how a lot of our locations in VinePrime (for DH) are pretty much the same. I mean sure they're a little different, but after awhile it seems as though it's the same thing, and they're all on Earth. Don't get me wrong I love Earth, but what about space are heroes and villains afraid to venture out into it. We could even have a thread about Earth's moon. I feel if we create more diversity between our locations, it'll also create more diversity between our characters. Like possibly alien characters. We could even have more diversity on Earth or just more locations, because how many times can you post in Under-dogs or Loner's (this is coming from the bartender :p) or any other location after awhile it gets boring.
