The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion

Some of my favorite Characters of All Time

Even though they're numbered, they are in no particular order at all (but I will say The Joker and Legion are my favorites). I just liked the aesthetics of the numbers lol.

List items

  • Anarchy incarnate. The psychotic clown prince of crime. He is just as brilliant as Batman, and while Batman is physically stronger, Joker is quicker, more agile. The Joker would destroy everything if he didn't play his games with Batman. It's impossible for the Joker of The Dark Knight to have been a failed comedian, in fact it's impossible for the modern comic Joker to be a failed comedian. His knowledge of chemistry, psychology, philosophy, weapons, mental manipulation are far too great. His intellect is commensurable to Batman's.

Something in the Joker's life drove him mad, made him this way. We know why Batman is psychologically scarred, but the Joker is an enigma. A monster, he's not a man, he's a force.

  • David Haller is extremely mentally ill. In the comics Legion has sporadic appearances, most recently he fought the whole X-Men team including Jean to a standoff (Uncanny X-Men #9). The show Legion on FX is an absolute cinematic and intellectual masterpiece, and a profound 3 season study of mental illness. It is by far the smartest thing to come out of Marvel.

  • As a New Yorker I absolutely loved seeing Spider-Man free run and parkour around the city. I haven't caught up with him in a minute but I hear he's now a corporate CEO...which seems like an evil corrupt occupation for our friendly neighborhood spidey

  • The first rebel. The Archangel Seraphim who rebelled against an all-powerful authoritarian force. The Morningstar is second only to the Source, and is able to manipulate reality (but cannot create it, that is his brother Michael's gift). But I'm not at all a fan of this blonde blue-eyed Lucifer. I much prefer the "tall, dark, and handsome" portrayal by Tom Ellis.

  • Another rebel, and anarchist, warrior fighting a corrupt right-wing government. Like the Joker and Shogo Makishima, V's goal is to obliterate the corrupt system of control.

  • Another psychotic, mentally ill sadist who takes great pleasure in chaos. In fact the character was completely inspired by the Joker.

  • One of the greatest characters in any medium. Brilliant, quick, agile, proclivities for knives; Shogo Makishima leads a rebellion against a system that takes away free will. His actions start with sedition, growing ever more heinous to shock the "sheep" out of complacency. His final act is to attempt to completely destroy the system before he's eventually stopped.

  • Again I like that her mental unbalance, or insanity at losing her child causes her to warp all of reality in House of M. In the MCU Elizabeth Olsen plays an amazing Scarlet Witch, no one seems to notice she defeats Thanos single handedly at the end.

  • I chose Dark Phoenix because I like the fact that her powers make her mentally unstable, insane even. The most powerful creature in the universe is insane and able to destroy universes.

  • The illest reality warper. I believe he may be even number one or two in all of comics. I wonder how the other reality warpers and psychics fare against this Joker, essentially a god.

  • The rebel who stole from the rich and gave to the poor. Extremely agile, he mostly avoided capture until he was cast out and left to fend for himself in "the spirit wilds". Much like Siddhartha he finds a sense of enlightenment and fuses with the spirit of light allowing him to bend fire, water, earth, and air all at once--as well as access the vast powers of the Avatar State.

  • The Joker's new squeeze! I love her. She has the same proclivity for knives that her boyfriend does, and is just as psychotic and sadistic. We'll see the full extent of her character in the upcoming Joker War, but in the meantime she goes toe-to-toe with Harley Quinn in issue 75.

  • Former lover of the Joker after she was seduced by him in Arkham Asylum. The prose novelization of Mad Love lets the reader picture a more sinister Joker than the one presented in the animated series. I actually really liked Margot Robbie's portrayal of Quinn, the tattoos and quasi-BDSM vibe seemed like Harley.

  • There is something mysterious and utterly sexy about Zatanna. Constantine is a lucky man. Zatanna is by far one of the most powerful magicians (sorcerers) in the DC Universe, and is more than capable of standing on equal ground with other incredibly powerful magicians like the aforementioned Constantine, and Enchantress.

  • Another genius who led a revolution against a superpower that ruled the world. He possess an ocular power known as Geass. It is different for each user, but his is the power of the King; he can command anyone and bend them to his will. His final words: "I destroyed the world and created it anew"

  • A powerful psychic. Her powers have steadily grown over the course of her history. At first she was just a telepath. She now has a multitude of psychic powers including the telepathy, and newly telekinesis, precognition, and the ability to construct blades made of psychic energy.

  • Autonomous Ultra Instinct Goku. His speed and reaction time are unparalleled, as his extreme power. He has surpassed even the divine energy of a god. Autonomous Ultra Instinct is such an advanced state of being that not even most gods can manage it. I'm going to make a highly controversial statement and say Autonomous Ultra Instinct Goku would obliterate Superman Prime. Haha

  • The original speedster and parkour master. With all the gems he takes on his ultimate golden form in which his speed is enhanced by magnitudes as well as powers such as flight and teleportation. Sonic also has the ability to freeze time.

  • Created to be the perfect life form. Shadow posses hovering kicks, and speed commensurate to Sonic. Shadow's ultimate move is Chaos Control in which he warps space and time. Like Sonic, he can take on an ultimate golden form. Super Sayain if you will.

  • At the genesis of magic power 3 individuals were cursed as being the greatest sinners. Pandora, The Phantom Stranger, and The Question are cursed and doomed to eternal suffering--but to sin is to rebel.

  • Not a fan of his design at all, but his powers are extraordinary
