@danslott: Whether or not you're the real deal, you make a very good point. I'm rather neutral on your Superior Spider-Man direction, but I'll say this: people complaining has had absolutely little to zero effect on your book selling, or even just people reading it. It's divisive as all hell, we get it; sometimes that sells books in and of itself. But mostly, you have to consider casual readers who honestly don't know any better, comic book readers who just love the idea, and the people that read it regardless of their opinion of it. It's the same with the Call of Duty series. I'm fairly certain everyone and their mothers knows what COD is about and that it makes very minimal changes, and they release one every friggin' year. And yet, they are still the best-selling video game franchise every single year, in spite of the overwhelming negative opinion people have of Activision's development practices. Explain that one to me, please.
Superior Spider-Man is nowhere near that level of quality, though, and I'm sure everyone can admit to that. In spite of your feelings on the core matter, SSM is a brilliantly told book that carries out its objective of deconstructing the character is very unique ways. It's a bit hammy at times, but it's a good book overall. All the hate that it gets is pretty irrelevant in the scope of things, because it's going to keep selling and keep up its quality until Dan Slott or whoever at Marvel that matters decides that it was a good run, but it's time to move on. So, seriously you guys, you need to move on.
