Darth Maul Respect Thread (Canon)

RESPECT

No Caption Provided

''There is no justice, no law, no order, except for the one that will replace it! The time of the Jedi has passed. They cannot defeat Sidious. But together, you and I can.''

― Maul

This is a respect thread for Darth Maul. It's from the new canon and canon related materials only.

The canon Star Wars materials are officially published books, comic books, movies, animations after 2014 new Star Wars canon announcement. Only exception to that are the old movies and the 2008 Clone Wars animation, they are canon too. As well as the novelization of the old movies. Some of the sources are technically not canon, but I've added it because it's directly related to the canonical materials. Such as the director's, and the writer's statements, and the sources about the canon movies and the canon animations.

Maul embodies the ''true warrior spirit'' which helped him to survive from bisection.

''Even more remarkable than his great skill with a lightsaber, Darth Maul embodied the power of a true warrior spirit to overcome the seemingly impossible. The director of the Rebels states that Maul's knowledge about the Sith holocrons was a part of his Sith training.

Dave Filoni: ''Darth Sidious was aware of this planet and that Maul had been brought there as a small child and they together had attempted to get into the temple and get to the holocron. That’s a sacred object that contains ancient Force-sensitive knowledge. The temple Maul and Ezra infiltrate together is set up with a lot of traps… they seem to be specifically tailored to keeping out other Sith.''

Maul possesses the secret knowledge of the Jedi and the Sith holocrons.

Ezra: ''A Sith, Darth Maul, has them. He wants it.''

Bendu: ''Oh. He would bring them together? Such a vergence carries grave danger. If two such powerful sources of knowledge are united, they will grant a clarity of vision beyond your kind. When joined, any secret, wisdom or destiny can be seen through the Force. One could bring much chaos with such hidden truths. I have seen it before.''

Dooku is outmatched against Maul's tactical and strategical abilities.

Dooku: ''You're learning that seizing control, is much easier than maintaining it.''

Maul: ''What would you know of control, Count? Our alliance has been Sidious's will all along. He has instructed you to play this game, but you've been outmatched.''

Source: Darth Maul - Son of Dathomir #04 (2014)

The director of the Clone Wars states that Maul is smart and trained to build forces, and deceive people.

Dave Filoni: ''He was a well trained apprentice and that he would start to do the things that he trained to do, to build armies, to deceive people, create a power base for himself. So George came up with the idea of teaming up Maul with the Mandalorians.

But all parts are showing that Maul isn't just a brute force, but he is also being smart, he is building a power base, he is doing kind of Sidious did with the senate.''
