Favorite Star Wars Comics series

Some of my favorite Star Wars Comics series (will update from time to time)

List items

  • For me, the Legacy series including War revived my love for the Expanded Universe of Star Wars. It was such a bold step going so far into the future, but keeping it intact with elements to what makes Star Wars great.

  • I checked this series out when I heard that it would take place a couple of years before Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game. It introduces new characters along with some characters from the game. Literally, I think this series could have gone further than 50 issues.

  • I'm cheating a little bit with these 3 books. Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command are the comic adaptation of The classic novel, The Thrawn Trilogy. This was my first experience of something that happened after the movies. It introduces some awesome characters like Mara Jade, Admiral Thrawn, and many others.

  • Union brought together two awesome characters together in marriage, Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade. This book has a making be made into a live action movie in my opinion. It has a classic Star Wars feel to it.

  • The Dark Empire series is an important part of Star Wars, more particularly for Luke Skywalker. Some of the story is a bit far-fetched, like Emperor Palpatine returning, Jedi coming back when they're were said to be all wiped out (well, Obi-Wan Kenobi survived so...), but both Dark Empire and Dark Empire II are really good series. It's Empire's End that leaves a bad taste in my mouth somewhat.

  • Featuring one of the coolest female character in Star Wars.

  • Before the Clone Wars tv series, this comic book series expanded the Clone Wars. It introduced new characters that became popular in their own rights like, Aayla Secura, Quinlan Vos, Kit Fisto, and many others. It also expanded many other main characters during their time in the Clone Wars.

  • Crimson Empire introduces a anti hero called Kir Kanos, an Emperor's Imperial Guard who lives for the Empire. This guy is seriously DEDICATED to the Empire. After being betrayed by one of his fellow Imperial Guard, nothing won't stop him until he has his revenge in service of the Empire. This series is so great, that a third series is coming out later this year. I'm hoping for a fight between Luke and Kir Kanos.

  • This series is quickly moving up on my list.

  • I'll admit, this series is growing on me.

  • I'm cheating again with this one as well, because Shadows of the Empire was part of a huge project back in the 90s. They did A LOT of stuff with this: a novel, a game, toys, a soundtrack, and was even rumored to be a live action movie. This comic book takes place after Empire Strikes Back and before Return of the Jedi.

Good list.I'm eventually going to read more Star Wars comics and complete my list. You should read Star Wars- Purge - The Hidden Blade it's a really good one shot. Good Story and excellent art. Also Star Wars: Empire 2002 was a really good Star Wars series.

@Technicolorville: I updated my list more.

I couldn't get into The Rise of the Empire Era comics like Empire or Dark Times, mostly because of Darth Vader. I like a lot of his stories, but I feel like most of them were like the same story. The Hidden Blade was pretty good though. I do want to read Star Wars: The Lost Command.

... so... Union has that making to be made into a live action movie... a classic Star Wars feel to it... even though it's just basically a chick flick... it's just Luke and Mara getting married... that's it... but Dark Empire has things that are a bit far-fetched... you really don't go into details on any of this, which is not surprising... but seek help and fast!
