Street Justice

Street Justice: Waging a shadow war on organized crime and terrorism from New York to Metropolis and points in between.

All the major superhero teams come into existence to fight the biggest of the nasty threats to Earth and the residents there of; makes sense I guess, and I'm pretty sure that there is a trope or two in there as well.

But I love street level heroes, who get no -or precious little- love in the super hero team scene. So, I decided to put together my own dream team of street level heroes and heroines. I grew up reading the Silver Age comics, with those great early cross over stories, so I didn't limit myself to one Universe.

NOTE: While the Batman is my absolute favorite hero, as a founder of the Justice League -depending on the continuity- he has been left off the list.

List items

  • One of my all time favorite heroes; I've selected the "Shadow Cabinet" incarnation, Marvel's nod to the Batman, as the lynch-pin of my team, filling the rich patron and team leader roles.

  • The brutal second in command of my dream team.

  • Every team needs a brick, I have a soft spot for the hard lady from Milestone.

  • The team's energy projector (and the first title I every collected that wasn't directly linked to the Batman); Mr. Pierce is the heart and conscience of the team.

  • The team's infiltration specialist and a long time favorite of mine; she was a great sidekick/love interest for Cap in the 80s. In Street Justice she would be a mentor figure to Mia/Speedy.

  • Mia, aka Speedy, is the team's weapon master and the youngest member of the group. I have loved this story arc and this character since shortly after she first cropped up; she's a good fit for the tone I'd want in the stories of Street Justice.

  • Primarily aiding the team as reporter Jack Ryder, in a pinch he transforms and brings his special brand of chaos to bear against the team's enemies.

  • The team's loose cannon. He barely colors inside the lines and gives Huntress a run for her money in the brutality department.

  • Something about the first superhero of the disco age, I loved her and would kick myself if she didn't have a place on the team.
