May not have killed her, but it was a start. The shields were a... frustration, to be sure, but it accomplished what Dirge had needed. Forcing her to react and defend herself from his aimless volley of bullets had put a damper on the sonic assault he'd been enduring, and while he was still rattled, he was beginning to slowly recover. As the BulletPuke ran out of ammo he tossed it angrily towards his tipped bike, moving to the side to grab his sword and leaning on it for a moment, catching his breath... then felt a rumble start to come from beneath him.

"Aw, fluff me," the Dynian grumbled as shockwaves began to shatter the concrete beneath him, forcing Dirge to stumble backwards and try to keep his balance, his head still spinning from the pain ringing in his ears. He staggered around like a weary drunk for a moment, trying to keep his booted feet at the flattest, steadiest chunks of land before finally falling to one knee -- just in time for the next sonic boom to hit him directly in the face, sending him flying backwards, the alien hunter crashing into a nearby tree that happened to be falling towards him....

...Snapping his spine completely.

Dirge Havocstorm remained motionless for a long moment as the rumbling earth began to swallow him up, chunks of rock and concrete impaling the sides of his body as he twitched, his sword falling from his shattered fingers. That had just been... well, really inconvenient. He knew better than to put himself in a position where leverage might end up being his greatest enemy, yet he'd fallen right into the kinetic blast of sound. This chick was tougher than she looked, he had to give her that.

Fortunately for Dirge, so was he. A low growl escaped his blood-stained lips as his splintered hand began to knit itself back together, slowly but efficiently, his fingers tightening around an uprooted lamp-post. Using that leverage to flex his shoulder rotated one vertebrae sharply back into place, his shattered neck piecing itself back together as best as it could as the alien slowly crawled to one knee, then shakily to his knees, dirty and covered with blood and wounds, clearly agitated and in pain, but standing yet again. "Fluffin'... dames...." he snarled, his other hand tightening around the handle of his sword as he reached into his utility belt. Playing keepaway wasn't gonna get him anywhere with this chick, she had too much firepower and too much durability. As much as even the thought of being beaten by a girl enraged him, it was time to admit that if he was gonna win this, he needed to do it up close.

Stretching his mangled figure until it more closely resembled a human (or Dynian) being, Dirge took one firm step forward, staying low and using his free hand to crawl across the shifting rubble like he was a soldier on the front lines. If he could just get to those shields, cut through 'em, close enough to keep an eye on her if she shot another one of those blasts, he'd have her in chunks. Any thought of going non-lethal for this one was out the window like a prom night dumpster baby.

#6  Edited By Dirge_Havocstorm

@shanana:

"Ya know, I expected more," came the husky chuckle of Dirge's playfully masculine voice as he began to move towards the woman's prone figure, whirling his blade in slow circles. "Maybe dodge it, maybe shoot one of those boom-blasts at it. I gotta admit, I figured "take the bomb to the face" woulda been Option C but hey, I've been wrong before. Don't you tell nobody, though." Showing off that fanged grin again, he loomed over the Emerald Heart's limp body, poising his sword for a downward, killing strike -- then letting out a confused grunt when he watched the woman's wounds begin to heal before his eyes.

"Well, fluff me," he growled, blinking those dark, burning eyes of his as he watched her pluck the spikes from her body... and then the pain came, the unbearable blast of sound in every one of the Dynian's heightened senses, the feeling like getting a root canal in every tooth in his head, all at once, with no anesthetic. His sword clattered to the ground as he clutched his hands around his pointed ears, scarlet eyes becoming bloodshot with stream of electric blue as the blast of sound threatened to devour him from sheer system shock.

He staggered backwards, narrowly stumbling out of the way of yet another sonic shock, this one hitting a nearby fountain and flooding the area with water. Another growl from the bounty hunter, distracted still by the pain that refused to stop or even ebb, and the woman whipped past him, blasting the water Dirge was now ankle-deep in with a blast of electricity that blasted into the pale alien... or, at least, his boots, not traveling any further from there and leaving the hunter himself seemingly unharmed.

His white lips dripping with blood and bile and foam from the sonic agony, Dirge nonetheless managed to steady himself, shuddering from the pain, and let out one more mocking growl. "Electricity? Toots, you really think I got... nngh... known to be the deadliest killer on thirteen systems without an insulate in my suit?" Stumbling back a little more, unable to concentrate, the enraged Dynian finally came to the only conclusion that made sense -- that to end this pain, he'd have to end the girl in white, or at least distract her. Abandoning his sword until he was in a better position to locate and retrieve it, Dirge reached into the holster at his belt, tattooed hand shaking as he withdrew his trusty BulletPuke TX7, a heavy-looking, fully-automatic pistol that was just perfect for situations like this... the situation in particular being an enemy that couldn't be easily reached or aimed at. Dirge's best bet was to spray n' pray with a hail of ammunition formed from the hulls of junked Imperium cruisers, and hope to high fluff that one or two or three hundred actually hit the target.

@shanana:

Dirge was somewhat unfamiliar with the concept of a ninja, but not that of an assassin. His expression became cautious the instant he spied the smoke-colored egg in the woman's hand, though admittedly, he assumed it would be something worse than it actually ended up being.

"Shall we?" the woman had said, bringing a smirk to the Dynian hunter's pale lips. He swung his right leg over the other side of his hoverbike, leaning back against it for a moment as he reached back, drawing a long, single-edged piercing sword from across the side of his vehicle.

"Wouldn't have it any other way, toots," Dirge purred, boisterous grin showing off his pronounced canines as he whirled his blade around in a few rapid circles, the lean, lengthy blade making pronounced "whooshing" sounds as he did. Against his own expectations -- it seemed like many other combatants preferred to circle a bit, get a "feel" for their opponent -- the woman in white acted instantly, casting the black egg down to create an obfuscating cloud. Annoying, but not anything he'd dealt with before, as far as he kne--

The leather-clad bounty hunter was blasted backwards by a sudden shock of sonic energy, dispersing much of what had previously hidden the woman but coming completely out of left field as far as Dirge was concerned. Sending the Dynian stumbling backwards, the force of the blast forced him off its footing after a second or two, and the alien was sent hurtling back into his hoverbike, knocking it over completely and with Dirge tumbling backwards over it. A low groan escaped his lips as he struggled back up to one knee, shaking his head in what appeared to be more irritation than pain as he brought himself up to his feet, fingers tightening around his sword.

Wiping a thin streak of midnight-blue blood from his lip with his free hand, the bounty hunter cursed in some unknowable alien language -- then chuckled. "Not bad, turtle-dove. Looks like there's more to you, huh? More than any of those other squids I put in the ground, at least." Curling his wrist outward, a small metallic sphere shot from Dirge's sphere and between his thumb and forefinger, several long, gleaming spikes shooting out of it as the woman took up a defensive posture, waiting for the Dynian to push an offensive. The sword she held now actually resembled Dirge's own quite closely, if... smaller. "But you're gonna have to do a lot better than that if you wanna put me down. Complete dismemberment is usually a nice start, but I suggest you get on with it. I haven't got all day, after all."

Not attempting to be subtle in the slightest, the ghostly-skinned alien took up a narrow stance of his own, a fencer's stance -- no, wait. Not a swordsman's stance at all. A pitcher's stance. Kissing the little spiked ball and blowing a soft breath on it, Dirge wound up and whipped the potent, advanced shrapnel explosive directly towards his opponent. He figured she'd dodge it -- those speedy, chick-types always tended to dodge stuff like that -- but she'd still have a lot to deal with when the thing detonated, sending razor-sharp, nail-sized spikes blasting out in an approximately ten foot radius.
