"What's your relationship with this woman Brian?"

"You don't come out clean, that's the point, Brian," Ada finally broke their telepathic conversation. Whitaker had no idea about the thoughts they shared with one another, but even he felt like he was listening in to the middle of an argument. Michael turned his head over to Brian wondering if he was wrong to trust Brian again. Turning his head back to the woman who held Grimm City hostage, "What's your relationship with this woman Brian?"

lose himself in thought after thought
lose himself in thought after thought

"You could kill me, right here, Right now, and you will still gain nothing. You will spend your time trying to pin it on me, a person you killed. But at the end of the day, when the dust settles. You will still be the villain here." Ada was staring back at Whitaker. Her cold eyes piercing his mask. "You will still be the villain here.""Was she wrong?" Brian was possibly trying to save Grimm, but did that make him a hero? Was Michael supposed to forget about his obsession with his belief that Brian killed Danny? Or did him saving the city make up for the fact he probably murdered their former colleague?

"They will investigate, they will find out what I already know. They will come and you will be crucified. Your city will still hate you, and your claims about me in death will lose credibility."

What did she know? What did Whitaker not know? Was he slacking on investigating Brian? Did he miss something? Was she playing with Whitaker? Thoughts poured into the Former Detective's mind and it was beginning to be all he thought about, beginning to lose himself in thought after thought.

"You, you're not the person this city needs. You.Are.Weak. Nothing but a boy pretending to be a man. A body of emotions" and that's what made this woman unique, her emotions or lack thereof. She was stone in a city on fire. Whitaker could be calm in a storm, agents of the FORCE had their own way dealing with fire. Some fought fire with fire chaos with chaos, Whitaker chose to try dealing with it at a calm level minded head, but not today. This woman of stone emotions were shattering Whitaker's and as her cold heart eroded Whitaker's fortress-like mind, she shined. It was as if she thrived on a city full of fire, full of chaos. Brian, on the other hand, was the brightest flame in the city. He was beginning to lose himself in all of it.

"You will not do what's right, then I have to do it for you!" Then silence once again surrounded Whitaker, after something was fired in his general direction. Michael had seen from the corner of his eye, Brian's weapon beginning to shift towards him, and then the jerking of it, but he wasn't able to get fully out of the way.

Whitaker fell to his back, his head hitting the pavement, stunned after what just happened. Muffled yelling trying to break through his hearing sense but to no prevail. Whitaker's eyes were wide as he tried to gather himself, instinctively he tried to retaliate at whatever hit him. He tried to pull out both handguns under his trenchcoat, but only able to put one of them in his right hand. He lifted his head to see if his handgun was missing, but it wasn't. It was exactly where the seeker of justice believed it to be, but the missing part in the equation was him. A part of him. His left arm wasn't where he believed it to be, it was nowhere in his line of vision.

He looked over at his left shoulder trying to trace the missing limb, but there wasn't much to follow. The shot fired from the "God Mode" had partially hit him. Whitaker couldn't believe it, he was beginning to go into shock over the whole thing.

He leaned his head back facing up at the dark sky, trembling began to engulf his body, and his breathing was picking up in speed just like his heart's pulse. He was fading. The city's sky was beginning to blur. Whitaker wasn't sure if he was going to die here on the pavement of Dominus Internationale. He tried to look up with all his might to see if Brian was going to stop Ada, but his body was heavy.

"Is it time for me to join you big guy?" Whitaker chuckled thinking about Donut Danny and the possibility that this was gonna be his end. Michael's hand released his handgun, letting it fall to his side.

@ada_guillaume: @americanvalor_:

As Brian and Michael walked out of the facility, it was familiar but different. They had sided with each other many times before on The Force, but lately, their relationship was more foe like than friendly, and their attire reminded Whitaker of that.

Brian was dressed in the old suit that he had worn on one of his last missions on the Force, but the man inside of it looked different. Brian Maddox had once again looked more like Brian Newcastle to Whitaker.

Whitaker took a glance at his reflection in the glass and saw how he had changed too. The man who once served on The Force alongside Brian now wore a mask hiding his identity, compared to the old days where he wore a badge name. A vendetta to avenge his dead friend, and the belief that what is right is right, and what is wrong is wrong had fueled the once proud detective to become a vigilante obsessed with bringing the very man he stood beside down, and others like him the system couldn't reach or didn't want to.

The feeling of walking alongside his former partner was familiar but at the end of the day, the two men were different from their Force Days.

"It's time to finish, everything depends on this moment. So, I'm asking you to watch my back. Partner." The word stung a bit, but in a way, it was nice to hear Brian say it nonetheless. It reassured Whitaker going into the Battle for Grimm.

Brian unholstering the 'God Mode' gun wasn't a red flag for Whitaker. Yes, it was the same as the gun Brian had used to Kill Daniel Womack, but The Force never retrieved the weapon that did the damage.

That didn't stop Whitaker from analyzing the damage it did, studying the pictures over and over how it ripped through Danny, and the plasmic residue that it left after. But the sight of the gun itself wasn't alarming, Whitaker almost welcomed it knowing that Brian was prepared to handle a situation should it come up.

But neither of them were prepared for what greeted them once they exited the building. A woman driving a van straight towards them, Whitaker instinctively jumped to the side, ending with a role and pulling out a handgun as the finishing touch on the evasive maneuver.

Brian, on the other hand, had a more direct approach, the gun he had just unholstered fired at the base of the vehicle causing the vehicle to be met with greater force thus lifting the back of the vehicle up, ejecting the woman through the sunroof, but the gun wasn't done there, the final effect was it ripping straight through the van.

The woman being ejected lead to her landing on Brian, making them both crash through a glass part of the building. Whitaker had taken several steps to help him when he called out for assistance, but he stopped dead in his tracks.

Not at Brian's previous call alarming the rest of his Grimm 'Hero' squad that the enemies they had been so ready to end were here, no the Former Detective of The Force stopped at the sight of the van. A huge hole had ripped through the vehicle and had left a plasmic residue in its path. Michael stared sick to his stomach at the sight of it, he was speechless for moments. He holstered his gun, walking towards the area of where a vehicle used to stand, not caring about the surroundings or people around him.

A closer look was needed. Whitaker's obsessive nature demanded it. He had to make sure, but his concentration was snapped as he witnessed Brian walking over and picking up the very same gun, if not similar to the one that murdered Daniel Womack.

His obsession would have to wait, the ruins of the Van would still be there, the plasmatic residue it left would still be there just as it was that night Brian had gotten away. Tonight's focus was Grimm. Daniel Womack would rather have this city be answered for than himself. He would've rather Whitaker and Brian had brought down the person responsible for this Chaos. The Vendetta would have to wait.

The ground beneath Whitaker began to shake, tremors from what? Michael didn't know, but his body was already on alert. Vines had begun to erupt throughout the building, Whitaker rushed to separate himself from it, just in time to see what he assumed to be the woman responsible for the chaos.

He stopped in his tracks as he stood away, but close enough to see both Brian and Ada in his view. The King of Grimm had come face to face with the Outsider that tried and in some ways succeeded in overthrowing his kingdom. But Ada's hands in the sky looked more like a surrender rather than a confrontation. The silence between the two confused Michael, it was as if they were waiting for the other to speak, the other to move, but neither were. He thought about intervening by firing at Ada, but he decided against it. Whitaker was a masked figure operating outside of the law, but Brian was an icon to this city who right now was having his integrity and reputation tainted. But Brian still fought against the sickness that plagued this city like he had tried to in many other ways before.

Brian Newcastle was more than a rich man with a nice suit to this city. Brian had done what so many people had tried to do before him but had failed. Brian had tried making Grimm a better place, and in some ways, he had succeeded, unlike his predecessors who had either corrupted themselves or done nothing. That's why the city was so easily swayed to the idea that Brian had been at the root of this because in the city's history they had been here before. They were so ready to not be made a fool again that they had jumped to conclusions, but Brian's reputation and the city's belief in him wasn't irreparable, with his track record on The Force, with his usage of his family business to ensure Grimm was safer, all Grimm City needed was a reason to believe Brian and here it was. This showdown between Brian and Ada was being recorded in more ways than one. Brian just had to make the right move.

Brian took a step forward, but silence still surrounded them. Then Brian turned his head towards Whitaker and Whitaker stared back into his eyes. As the two stared at each other for what felt like forever Brian's eyes began to water before he finally spoke, "You're the soul of this city, Whitaker. I couldn't have done any of this without you." And for the first time in a long time, Brian hadn't given himself enough credit. At a time like this, the city didn't need Whitaker. It needed a face to look up to. It needed hope for what was to come.

It needed Brian Newcastle.

Brian mouthed an apology to Whitaker, and momentarily Whitaker lost hope himself. He once again thought about pulling the trigger on Ada to end this, but he didn't. Brian would have to make a choice here and now, He was supposed to choose to do the right thing, but if he chose to align himself with this terrorist group, then maybe he wasn't the person this city needed.

Grimm City was in the Hands of the very man who had wanted it all along. No one else, not Ada's, Not Whitaker's, Not Hawkshade.

It was in Brian's, and if he failed, Grimm would fall.

The line between friend and foe were wavering but at the same time running deeper than ever. Foes were becoming friends or at the least allies in this time of chaos, much like an adult version of Red Rover with one team being New threats to Grimm and the other being Heroes who were not actual Heroes.

Michael Whitaker was a former agent of the FORCE, a special division dealing with everything Metahuman and Crime, but now at the most, he was a vigilante bent on exposing Brian Newcastle.

Brian Newcastle was another former agent of the FORCE, who after his time with the Special Unit decided that his understanding of what was right and wrong would just be thrown out like an old pair of jeans that he no longer found a use for.

Whitaker didn't trust the Grimm Icon, not after the Danny incident, and if their newfound alliance was only for each other, there wouldn't have been one. The trust and respect that Michael once had for Brian were forgotten when he had to bury a friend 6 feet under.

And here he was standing beside the man he believed responsible for murdering Daniel Womack because this alliance wasn't made for them, No, he stood beside Brian Newcastle for Grimm City. Because the city didn't deserve to fall without a fighting chance because men found themselves too high on their own horses to understand that what they faced were bigger than them (at least for now).

Brian Newcastle's misfit team weren't exactly Outstanding Citizens but in Grimm's time of need, for whatever reason whether it be money, vengeance, or spite, they came together against a common threat, and Brian commanded them. His first team command was to get them all together.

When they walked through Brian's Safe Haven, you would think they believed ground beneath him was water, by the way, they threw themselves at him with passionate hugs, their voices being lost in their praise, and the parting of the crowd to allow him through. He was their savior. If Whitaker was ignorant of Brian's past, he would probably have believed the same. Brian Newcastle, despite all of his wrongdoing, had done more than the City's previous so-called leaders.

Despite the Team Leader allowing his team to get a moment of peace and even though Whitaker's hunger was getting harder to fight off, he stayed close to Brian, for his own personal reason, to keep track of Brian.

Keep your enemies close and never forget what they've done.

Out of the Blonde Triplets that Brian spoke to, (Alana) one looked familiar to Michael, he believed they had met before, but instead of exchanging pleasantries with her, he simply acknowledged her with a simple nod before the four of them wandered off. It was a shady action in the mind of Whitaker, but he had decided to give Brian the benefit of the doubt.

Once Brian returned, he was different or he was the same as before. He looked more familiar than he had in previous months. He was wearing a suit he had worn on the FORCE on his last mission. Whitaker couldn't help, but think that felt so long ago. It was promising to see Brian ditching the BOSS attitude and returning as a leader ready to dive into the action with the team that he had formed.

Whitaker snapped back when Cassandra Ahmed, the head of Dominus International's Mystic Division decided to praise Brian just as the team was meeting. Which wouldn't be weird, but as she did, Whitaker's eyes caught a glimpse of the triplets and their static blue energy. As if they were controlling Cassandra, Whitaker once again decided to give Brian the benefit of doubt. As Cassandra finished her own show, A red-haired woman, who Whitaker could only believe to be the paid operative Brian had haired, decided it was her 5 minutes. She used them to decided now was appropriate to ask for more money, and Michael would have focused on the issue at hand if it wasn't for her terribly strange accent that was stressed with every word that came out of her mouth.

Brian's ill excuse for a cover-up was noticed by Whitaker. Whitaker wasn't as worried about the mercenary as he was about Brian's need to try and cover it up. It showed a weakness in their newfound alliance, and continuous things like this would have the whole thing collapsing with assumptions on his previous shady activity since they had formed their partnership.

The Enigma looked over at the Masked man known as Hawkshade, a hero that had caught the attention of the former detective, and even without introducing each other, Whitaker trusted him the most in the room. And just like the hired hero, he too got his own mission.

While the red-haired beauty had gotten an enemy as hers, the hero had been commanded by Alana to deal with a chemical. and in all this chaos, chemicals were never good. Whitaker had thought back to chemicals that were dispersed in the last Grimm City attack.

When they continued Whitaker had finally gotten what he needed at first when setting out to find what Brian knew, a name. Ada Guillaume. Another one of the teammates was in charge of dealing with her and her own alliances.

Whitaker waited for Brian to address him as his group had done to the others, but it didn't come before Brian spoke about the issue at hand. His hypocritical view on Ada was nothing short of amusing to Whitaker, and if he had heard it on tape, he probably would have replayed it several times laughing at Brian, but this was no time for shits and giggles. Brian was speaking from his heart or at least it seemed so to Whitaker, "Now I know I'm not perfect, but I would die for my city." Once again Brian showed what Whitaker had believed to be his true colors at one time. His words were promising, just as the Brian Maddox, once was.

Whitaker acknowledged his speech with silence, allowing it to soak into the others. He was still in and he was going to be right beside Brian, having his back, as if they were partners one last time, hoping that Brian would do the same.

Brian is the key player in all of this. Without him team Hero wouldn't have much of a chance.

Agreed.
