The clones armour cannot withstand the plasma weapons that the covenant have.  
That is a huge factor.

That's what I was thinking! :D I can understand the goofy look in the comics because he's the "god of Mischief", but I think this new look gives him more of a Doctor Doom type edge, with the gold armor and green cape, makes him look more like a serious villain. "

I hope she stays in the last season for more than 1 pointless episode and actually remains a part of the story. 
Maybe, this is just me thinking aloud,  Darkseid actually is a part of the 10th Season and he invades a vulnerable Earth, and Clark is forced to team up with a Lex and Kara and the rest of the Justice League to stop Darkseid.
