Top 10 Comic Book Movies

UPDATE: 11/04/2021

List items

  • The Dark Knight is a exhilarating crime-thriller that's cemented itself as one of the best films ever made. From it's Oscar-worthy performances to the carefully crafted plot, this film is a superhero experience like no other.

  • Sam Raimi's second addition to his Spider-Man series brilliantly explored the character of Peter Parker, fully fleshing out and clearly defining the type of person he is, and the extent of his internal conflict. Truly one of the best characters in film.

  • Todd Philip's addition to the comic book world is like none other, because this doesn't feel like a comic book movie. This film is an excellent critique on modern society and is brought to us in bombastic fashion by one of the best acting performances I've ever seen in film.

  • Coming in at Number 4 is the end to the greatest superhero trilogy ever made. This film was a great conclusion to the trilogy, providing satisfying conclusions to all character arcs. My main complaint about this film is the inclusion of Talia al Ghul, who I did not feel was necessary and was only detrimental to Bane's character, who otherwise would have cemented himself as one of the best CBM villains.

  • The greatest Superhero Origin Film made to date, Batman Begins did an incredible job of establishing it's universe and more importantly it's characters. It is a sequence of epic acts brought together by the film's villain - Ra's al Ghul, brought to us by Liam Neeson in a respectable performance.

  • The highly anticipated MCU crossover did not disappoint. This was a film that managed to balance a large ensemble of characters with great care, ensuring each character got the appropriate screentime to properly develop. All of this was tied together by the film's villain and protagonist - Thanos, who will go down as one of the greatest blockbuster villains of all time.

  • Avengers: Endgame is a once in a lifetime cinematic experience, with two hours of well directed character exploration preceding a one hour epic conclusion to the Infinity Saga, Endgame managed to conclude this eleven year series of Marvel Movies in a way that felt satisfying, and considerate of future content.

  • Logan is (was) the fitting end to the X-Men saga, with a conclusive chapter to Logan's years-long character arc, paired with Jackman's greatest performance, a great film with a lot of emotion.

  • The conclusion to Zack Snyder's DC Trilogy did not disappoint, in a 4 hour epic we get a continuation and conclusion to the current arcs of the main trinity, a complete introduction and establishment for the other 3 JL members and some of the best world building ever in a CBM. It's just a shame we'll never see what could have been.

  • Into The Spider-Verse is the best Spider-Man movie since Spider-Man 2. It provides us with a stellar adaptation of the Spider-Verse, with not only an amazingly written Miles Morales, but one of the best portrayals of Peter Parker himself in Peter B. Parker, on top of that, the action and animation in the film is beyond incredible.
