Crocodile(One Piece) Respect Thread

Reasoning:

So I recently wanted to a CAV with Crocodile, my favorite One Piece character. So naturally I went looking for a respect thread for him. Surprisingly, I could not find one, so I decided to make one for myself and anyone who may want one. I'll probably be doing more of this in the future, but without further ado...

Sir Crocodile, The Desert King:

No Caption Provided

"Let me show you how outmatched you really are."

Biography:

Sir Crocodile is the former president of the mysterious crime syndicate Baroque Works and the main antagonist of the Alabasta Arc and Alabasta Saga as a whole. He is one of the longest running and most noteworthy primary adversaries of the series, as he was the first enemy to hand Luffy a complete and utter defeat, as well as one of only two who has defeated Luffy more than once. He was originally introduced as a Shichibukai, but was later stripped of his title after attempting to take control of the desert kingdom Alabasta.

Thanks to Luffy, he managed to escape from Impel Down and went to Marineford to participate in the war; after that, he and his subordinate Daz Bones decided to head out to the New World.

Powers, Weapons, and Abilities:

Crocodile ate the Logia Devil Fruit, Suna Suna no Mi, allowing him to become, generate, and manipulate sand. He has mastered his ability to the point of perfection and can turn into sand reflexively if attacked; this became especially obvious after Doflamingo cut his head off while he was distracted.

While in a desert area, his powers make him nearly invincible. Crocodile has the ability to create huge sandstorms, make multiple bladed weapons out of sand, and create quicksand (given the presence of a nearby underground waterway.)

He can also suck all the moisture out of any object, living or non-living, by touching it with his right hand. This ability allows him to utterly destroy his surroundings, killing and macerating any biological substances via dehydration.

Despite his powers being of the Logia-type, allowing him to turn into sand to avoid injuries, he has an enormous amount of physical stamina, durability, pain tolerance, speed, resilience and endurance as well. He was able to take a serious beating from Luffy in their third battle while countering with attacks of his own, and he later managed to take a direct strike from a diamond-encased Jozu with only a single burst blood vessel.

In addition to being one of the few characters shown to have some degree of mastery over their Devil Fruit, Crocodile is also formidable in hand-to-hand combat. He fought using only his hook for most of his third match with Luffy, only resorting to his Devil Fruit powers when he finally accepted that things weren't going in his favor. His hook is made mostly out of an extremely tough and resilient gold alloy, which makes it resistant to corrosion. Its durability was shown to be especially impressive when it took no visible damage from Mihawk's Kokuto Yoru as Crocodile defended Luffy from an attack.

The gold part of the hook is hollow and can be removed to expose a poisonous hook hidden inside. This porous secondary hook releases a powerful scorpion venom, which is strong enough to melt through rock and kill anyone with the effect of a single slash.

Feats:

Physical Capabilities:

Crocodile while a bit limited in showings, has decent stats that allow him to compete physically with the upper tiers of the One Piece cast.

Strength:

Crocodile has some very good showings in strength. In chapter 570 Crocodile is able to not only evenly clash with Dracule Mihawk, but push him back and deflect his attack. T

his can also double as a speed feat for Croc as he was nowhere near Luffy and Mihawk on panel, percieved what was happening and reacted/traveled fast enough to intercept and deflect Mihawk.

This is pretty impressive because Mihawk per chapter 561 can casually do this...

Going back to the above scans, Crocodile also evenly clashes with another Warlord, Doflamingo, in chapter 566 and the ensuing shockwave forces several marine soldiers back.

In the final scan, Crocodile is able to carry the bodies of at least a dozen pirates in a large sack with one arm after dehydrating them.

Speed:

Speed is IMO, Crocodile's least defining/useful stat, as he has so little showings, in it that along with the Mihawk Intercept feat, his only extended fights are against Luffy in the Alabasta Arc

I have added a few scans from their final fight in chapter 206 to demonstrate his speed at the time. Crocodile was able to keep up, react to , and dodge Luffy's Gum-Gum pistol and gatling. By this time Luffy was arguably hypersonic as he could casually react to and dodge bullets which in the OP verse travel at the speed of sound.

For later in the series, we can assume that Crocodile is at least Massively hypersonic by power-scaling as he was able to keep up with the likes of Mihawk, Doflamingo, and Akainu during the Whitebeard War.

Durability/Endurance:

Again, as already stated, Crocodile has relatively limited showings in straight tanking of attacks, due to the nature of his Logia fruit, making him extremely difficult, if not impossible to harm him without Haki or exploiting his natural weaknesses.

However the showings he does have are impressive as seen in the first three scans. These are from chapter 209, where an already injured Croc was taking a full on assault from Luffy and still keep fighting. Luffy was at least Multi-City Block in Striking Strength at this point.

This is arguably Crocodile's best feat so far when in comes to straight tanking. Croc tanks an unexpected Haki infused attack from "Diamond"Jozu, a top-tier Whitebeard Commander, on-par with Ace, and Marco at least and who can make his skin as hard as diamond. Croc takes this attack and quickly recovers and only comes out with a popped blood vessel.

This is impressive as this was the only real injury that Croc suffered in the entire war, despite clashing with the likes of Luffy, Akainu, Doflamingo, and Mihawk during the War, and coming out relatively unscathed.

Devil Fruit Mastery:

Crocodile is one of the few not just Logia, but Devil fruit users in general who has mastered their fruit and as such has extensive showings in it. I won't list specific chapters, but rather recommended reading for the feats of this section.

Invulnerability/Regeneration:

Recommended Reading; Alabasta Arc: 177-182, 198-212; Whitebeard War: 560-566, 570-597

The Suna Suna no Mi is a Logia type devil fruit. as such without manipulating certain weaknesses Crocodile is completely immune to regular blows as his body is will turn to sand.

Crocodile is unharmed and regens from unexpected beheadings, being totally destroyed, split in half, and being skewered.

Creating Sandstorms and Desert Spada:

Crocodile can conjure sandstorms using his sand manipulation that destroy multiple Large Buildings and City Blocks.

Manual Dehydration:

Sorry the scans are in reverse.

Crocodile, using his right hand he can drain the moisture out of anything he touches which makes people and plants wither and stone, earth, or metal as well as other solid objects turn to sand. This helps counter his main weakness of water. Croc is one of the few, if not the only Devil fruit user who has a direct counter to his weakness.

Other Abilities:

Crocodile Can sense things that are in sand and by sensing water underneath the sand he can make a quicksand pit. Also he can move at high speeds by turning into sand, allowing for a potential speed blitz.

Below are a list and description of his abilities shown so far:

  • Desert Spada(Treasured Sword of Desert): Crocodile forms his right hand into a loose blade of fast-moving sand and then stabs it into the ground, extending it along the ground like a torpedo, splitting anything in its path, including the very ground itself, through extreme and focused erosion, created by the sand blade.
  • Desert la Spada (Adamant Treasure Sword of Desert): An altered version of Desert Spada. Crocodile now forms several solid blades with fan-shaped edges instead of one large blade made from sand.
  • Desert Girasole (Desert Sunflower):Crocodile creates a loose sand blade from his right hand with Desert Spada. Like Desert Spada, He stabs it into the ground causing an area in front of him to collapse. However, a giant pit of quicksand will be formed instead, with the sand being taking away by underground rivers (which he can detect). Anything caught in the pit will be sucked in and buried alive. This attack can only be done in a desert terrain.
  • Barchan (Crescent-Shaped Dune):Crocodile swings his right arm forward while leaving a crescent shaped trail of sand behind it. Anything hit by that trail is instantly robbed of all moisture because of Crocodile's dehydration ability.
  • Desert Encierro (Desert Prison):Crocodile grabs someone with his right hand, then slowly or quickly drains the moisture from them with his dehydration ability. This leaves them in a withered and seemingly fleshless state.
  • Sables (Sandstorm): Crocodile summons a massive tornado of sand and sends it on a rampage. Once this sandstorm grows large enough, not even he can stop it. He can also make a sandstorm that can suck the water out of living things and is apparently able to crack steel. Another usage is to send people flying with this technique. In deserts, it can cross the length of a small country and many of them in succession over a period of time can bury an entire city.
  • Sables: Pesado (Sandstorm: Heavy):Crocodile gathers a swirling mass of extremely dense sand in his hand, then hurls it at his opponent, causing a massive shockwave upon impact.
  • Ground Seco (Ground Drying):Crocodile places his hand on the ground and uses his dehydration ability to dry out a huge area around him, turning it into a desert wasteland. When he does this, it also can cause the area around him to crumble and cave in, causing unfortunate foes to fall to their death.
  • Ground Death (Cycle of Erosion): An extremely strong version of Ground Seco. However, Crocodile not only dries up the ground but anything and everything on it including people and even buildings, all of which is transformed into sand if it has steady contact with the ground. The speed at which things dry also seemingly increases.

Weaknesses:

As much as I would like for him to be Crocodile is not invincible and does have his weaknesses that come from his Devil Fruit.

Crocodile's sand turns solid when in contact with liquids, including blood. This prevents his sand from dispersing and thus temporarily nullifies Crocodile's intangible body. Crocodile was bitten by a water-drenched Luffy but received no harm.

He also turned to sand when Vivi attacked him (even though he was drinking wine moments before), due to the sand sticking together. This weakness can be rendered useless, due to the ability to absorb the offending liquid. Emporio Ivankov knows one of Crocodile's precious weakness, but he hasn't revealed it yet. Other than that, the user is also affected by the standard Devil Fruit weaknesses.

Overall Rating:

Overall I would rate Crocodile as a solid Multi-City Block to City Level mid-tier powerhouse. He has decent physical stats and his devil fruit gives him a very strong and versatile powerset along with some great conventional durability/endurance ignoring hax. He culd be rated higher via powerscaling and will only have better showings in time, but for now this is what it is, at least IMO. That is it for me and Crocodile. LMK if I have missed anything and your thoughts.
