Combat Abilities:

Tulak Hord was the greatest lightsaber duelist of all the ancient Sith Lords - even greater than the likes of Marka Ragnos, Freedon Nadd, and Naga Sadow. It was said that many of these Sith were exceptional masters in comba, and that for a Jedi during the "prime of the Jedi" to fight one in combat would be an hilariously humiliating experience for them. Chris Avellone confirmed the validity of these statements.

"This was the tomb of Tulak Hord, known as the greatest lightsaber duelist of the Sith Lords. His skill was considered remarkable even in his time, when many true lightsaber masters lived. If you were to face an ancient Sith Lord in combat, you would learn that we are as children playing with toys compared to the prowess of the old Masters."

―Kreia (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords)

"Kreia is setting the stage for what we imagined KOTOR3 to be, and as we had a sense for the power that we wanted those Sith Lords to reveal, her predictions are accurate. And yes, she had a number of Sith holocrons that she had read (the ones on Telos)."

―Chris Avellone (Knights of the Old Republic 2 Head Writer)

Tulak Hord single-handely broke the siege of Yn which consisted of armies of Jedi, then went on to conqueror an army of Jedi a thousand strong with the aid of his forces and Khem Val.

"On Yn, the Jedi had laid siege to an Imperial stronghold. Tulak Hord broke the siege single-handely! And then he pressed forward to Jedi-held Chabosh, leaving nothing but Jedi blood in his wake. I never lacked Force to feed on in those days."

―Khem Val (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

"One of Khem Val's proudest victories came during the Battle of Chabosh, where he fought by Tulak Hord's side to conqueror an army of Jedi 1,000 strong."

―Star Wars The Old Republic Encyclopedia

Tulak Hord defeated the immensely powerful Khem Val, the finest Dashade who was later capable of consuming the life-force of thousands of Jedi in combat and killing some of the strongest Force users.

"Khem Val loyally served the Sith Lord Tulak Hord after the powerful Sith proved his superiority over Khem by defeating him in battle. This was the first time any Force user had bested Khem Val."

―Star Wars The Old Republic Encyclopedia

"You are still nothing to Tulak Hord. I was the greatest shadow assassin on Urkupp when Tulak Hord challenged me to honorable combat and claimed his victory."

―Khem Val (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

"Powerful, cunning and ruthless enough to slay even the strongest Force users, Khem Val was trained as an elite assassin. After emerging from his long slumber, the Dashade is the very embodiment of death and destruction; a reminder that there are things even Sith and Jedi must fear."

―Star Wars: The Old Republic Official Website

Tulak Hord waged an infamous Kaggath against another Sith Lord where he not only bested his opponent in single-combat, but went as far as eliminating his opponents entire legacy from the face of history. It was later revealed that the Sith Lord's name was Aloysius Kallig, the second greatest Sith Lord of his age with immense telekinetic powers. Centuries later, his heir would become the supremely powerful Darth Nox.

"A typical Kaggath is fought upon a single world, but some of the most historic clashes have encompassed several star systems. Sith Lord Tulak Hord's infamous crusade was fought beyond the furthest edge of the galaxy, where there are no stars or light."

―Star Wars The Old Republic Encyclopedia

"When the Dark Lord of the Sith Tulak Hord fought and won his one and only Kaggath, he declared that the name of his opponent would be stricken from history – and his command was fulfilled. The Kaggath has the power not only to destroy an individual Sith, but to obliterate his entire legacy."

―The Kaggath Codex Entry (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

Tulak Hord was an ultimate master of lightsaber combat, killing any enemy who dared challenge him.

"His command of the dark side and mastery of lightsaber techniques won Hord many battles, and each victory earned him enemies abroad and within the Sith ranks. Of the many who challenged his might, none were successful."

―Tomb of Tulak Hord Codex Entry (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

"Tulak Hord - a mighty Sith Lord with legendary lightsaber skills..."

―Star Wars The Old Republic Encyclopedia

Tulak Hord conquered hundreds of worlds during his conquest - including Dromaund Kaas.

"[Tulak Hord] went on to conquer the Dromund system–setting the stage for Dromund Kaas to eventually become capital of the Empire. Imperial historians believe the worlds conquered by Hord number in the hundreds, but any records from his bygone era were lost in the Great Hyperspace War."

Sith Sorcery (Alter):

The content in the next section reflects the power(s) of Sith Sorcery, also known as Sith Magic or Rituals.

Tulak Hord was a master at Sith Sorcery to such degrees it that was said he discovered the secret of Immortality. Using the Force, he could devour the spirits of his enemies, allowing him to grow in power and vitality. He did this to dozens to thousands of Jedi. This power can possibly be described as a variation of Force Drain, Transfer Essence, Consume Essence, or a completely different power entirely.

"In his time as Dark Lord of the Sith, Tulak Hord was known as a master of the mystical dark arts of the Force, using his powers to plumb the depths of life and death. In the battles of Yn and Chabosh, Tulak Hord is believed to have used a ritual to draw the strength of his enemies to himself, growing his power and vitality. One ritual of Tulak Hord’s gets only a scant mention in the histories, but is the subject of myth and legend–a ritual rumored to grant eternal life. No one has ever managed to uncover this mythical ritual, let alone perform it."

―The Ritual of Tulak Hord Codex Entry (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

"Three hundred years after Tulak Hord, the Sith Ergast tried to recreate the ritual the Dark Lord used to devour the spirits of his enemies at Yn and Chabosh. In its place, he discovered what he called the ritual of Force-walking. Requiring a Sith of great strength of will, the ritual of Force-walking allows the user to bind the restless ghosts of dead Sith to himself. Once the ghosts are bound, the ritualist may draw from their power, channeling it into a powerful exertion of Force energy against his enemies."

―Force-Walking Codex Entry (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

Tulak Hord's artifact described a ritual was said to grant Darth Nox and Darth Zash untold power. It was later revealed the ritual was an early method of Essence Transfer, where Darth Zash would have moved her spirit into that of Darth Nox's if not for the intervention of Khem Val. Instead, Darth Zash's spirit became trapped inside of the Dashade's body until a Rakata device freed him later.

"At last you have gathered the fragments of Tulak Hord’s artifact and are ready to undergo the ritual. Darth Zash has promised that this ritual will give you great power, and that soon, the galaxy will kneel before you. "

―Star Wars: The Old Republic

"These artifacts will change everything, apprentice--you, especially. They will make you more powerful than you could imagine. I have foreseen it."

―Darth Zash (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

"This artifact is one of five that together describe a peculiar ritual used by the great Tulak Hord when he conquered the Dromund system."

―Darth Zash (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

Tulak Hord created an ancient machine called the Red Engine, which possessed his ancient teachings and was powered by the hate and blood of the dark side. Even many of the most powerful of Sith failed to break its lock until the man who would become Darth Nox came and used powerful Force Lightning on it.

"Created by the ancient Sith Lord Tulak Hord, the Red Engine was an infernal machine powered by hate and blood. Located deep in its creator’s tomb, legend holds that those who unlock the secrets of the terrible device will gain access to the hidden teachings of Tulak Hord himself. Despite this potential prize, most scholars who have studied the Red Machine Engine have eventually given up in frustration, thwarted by the complexities of the sinister invention."

―The Red Engine Codex Entry (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

"Sith Lords such as Tulak Hord and Marka Ragnos were entombed within, along with their powerful dark artifacts - protected by vicious traps and deadly guardians."

―Star Wars The Old Republic Encyclopedia

Tulak Hord was believed to know of many great rituals that Emperor Vitiate knew - such as consuming the life energy of entire planets, as well as being able to use Force Drain and Force Lightning.

"Through their focus on these elements of the Force, the Sith have developed terrifying powers, such as the ability to drain a being of its life force, or unleash their hatred as crackling bolts of energy. The Sith Emperor, history's most powerful dark side master, performed a ritual of incredible scope to consume the life energy of every being on his homeworld. Ancient Sith were also masters of these arts."

Tulak Hord was a master at the art of Force Corruption, imbuing his power into Sith artifacts through Sith Alchemy. He took this power to heights where those who encountered his relics went insane.

"Incidents of Sith Lords imbuing their most precious possessions with some fragment of their dark power appear throughout Sith history. Such ritual imbuement can be used to inflict all manner of trouble on those who would steal these terrible treasures. The Dark Lord of the Sith Tulak Hord was especially known for this practice, and many possessions of Tulak Hord’s have driven their discoverers to madness throughout the years. Tulak’s madness is unique in who it affects, however; ignoring whether a person’s spirit is dark or light, it afflicts only the weak-willed, driving them to delusions of grandeur and eventual self-destruction."

―Tulak Hord's Madness Codex Entry (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

"Now Sith, your artifact. I don't have it, and I'm glad. Thing drew my crew insane; they mutinied."

―Andronikos Revel (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

"I sent a cruiser to recover the artifact, but all they found was Andronikos in an escape pod, half-mad."

―Darth Zash (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

Tulak Hord modified his ancient Sith mask, allowing it to be used as a form of Force Concealment.

"This ancient mask, blackened with age, has an eerie glow and seems uncomfortably claustrophobic."

―Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Force Stasis (Alter):

The content in the next section reflects the power(s) of Stasis Field also known as Force Stun.

Tulak Hord used the Force to put the highly Force-resistant Dashade Khem Val to sleep, then put him in stasis for thousands of years with the aid of technological equipment until the arrival of Darth Nox.

"The sarcophagus that holds Tulak Hord's bones is trapped with the same dark energies that bound me in Naga Sadow's tomb. I feel them."

―Khem Val (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

"I was only with him a very short time before he put me to sleep."

―Khem Val (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

"The Dashade have all but disappeared from the galaxy, and the details of Khem Val’s legend have faded to formless, creeping fear. Deep in the tomb of Naga Sadow on Korriban, Khem Val sleeps, suspended in a stasis field guarded by crackling electric energy. No one knows how he got there, or how to wake him. Even the greatest Sith Lords do not dare try. For when he wakes, he is sure to be hungry…."

―Star Wars: The Old Republic Official Website

Tulak Hord has mastered the Force to where he has become a very powerful Force Spirit.
