Force Accolades:

Darth Nihilus was so powerful in the Force that only planets and stars, not people, demand his attention. Darth Traya goes as far to say he perceives the universe itself differently than all other individuals.

"He sees planets, stars, not people. To him, the planet below, the station with its teeming life, only that is massive enough to demand his attention."

―Tobin (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lords)

“One cannot have power of that magnitude and still think and perceive the universe as we do."

―Darth Traya (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lords)

"I do not believe he knows his ship has been boarded, and if he did, he would not care. The extent of his power cannot be put into words, and his perceptions have grown as well. To him…"

"You are dust motes in a storm, a grain upon the beach, and as insignificant as a body that orbits the graveyard of Malachor."

―Visas Marr and Tobin (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lords)

Darth Nihilus was mused by his former apprentice, Visas Marr, to be the embodiment of death.

"His power is great, and it comes from hunger. He is a wound in the Force, more presence than flesh, and in his wake life dies, sacrificing itself to his hunger."

―Visas Marr (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lords)

"You... you are the darkness in which all life dies, milord. All life exists to feed your power, and my life... my life is yours. I beg you… please… let me die."

―Visas Marr (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lords)

Darth Nihilus wielded immense dark energies, being one of the most powerful Sith Lords in all of history.

"Darth Nihilus was one of the most powerful Sith Lords in the history of the galaxy, so corrupted that his very presence meant death."

―Star Wars Miniature Bust: Darth Nihilus (Gentle Giant Studios)

"Amazingly dark and devastating powers are the purview of some of the greatest Sith Lords of the Knights of the Old Republic era. They devastate and consume entire worlds with a thought... Average beings stand no chance of stopping these ultra-powerful monsters of the dark side."

―Power Beyond Belief: Using Ultra-Powerful Sith Lords in Saga Edition

"... Darth Nihilus, a being of pure hunger and dark side power, was approaching the colony."

―The Conclave at Katarr Codex Entry (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

Darth Nihilus' power was felt by non-Force-sensitives across the galaxy. With his power, they felt as if there was nothing they could not accomplish. However, the Dark Lord did not care for Onderon, and the separatists who allied themselves with him quickly realized that "everything exists to feed his will."

"The hunger that fills this vessel, it is power, but it consumes without end. It is that power we felt on Onderon, that Vaklu felt, it was an echo, too strong to ignore... General Vaklu and I, when it seemed that we would need more to take Onderon, make it strong again, he came. With his power, his soldiers, it seemed as if there was nothing we could not do - nothing the Queen could do to stop us... I have served the wrong Master, he cares nothing for Onderon, its soldiers, its people. Everything exists to feed his will. I came here, to this dead ship... and now he will not permit me to leave. This ship, it is a graveyard of a terrible battle. Everything on it slowly dies as long as he hungers."

―Tobin (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lords)

Jedi scholars believe the Dark Lord's hissings may have been one of the first languages ever spoken, or the raw dialect of the Force itself, untranslated by midi-chlorians and only comprehensible through death.

"Nihilus wore a mask of possible Hendanyn origin and spoke an unsettling, literally extirpating, tongue. Jedi seers sampling it from a Sith holocron proclaimed its intelligibility required mere patience, for Nihilus’ was the language spoken billions of years hence, at the end of all time. Jedi mystics offered a slightly less fantastical hypothesis: impossibly, Nihilus spoke the raw dialect of the Force itself, untranslated by midichlorians - one needed only die to comprehend it."

―Abel Peña (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide Author)

The mask of Darth Nihilus was said to be such a focal point of dark side energies that even a non-Force-sensitive that wore it could wield the dark side as if they had the power and skill of a Sith Apprentice.

"The legend of Darth Nihilus and his all-consuming hunger came up frequently in Eislo's research. Even if the stories of the mask's power were exaggerated, he knew he had to have it. The ghost-white mask is said to be imbued with dark side energy, and anyone who wears it can wield the energy as if he or she were a Sith apprentice."

Combat Abilities:

Darth Nihilus, while immensely weakened and exhausted after a failed drain attempt on a wound in the Force, nearly defeated the combined force of Meetra Surik, Visas Marr, and Mandalore the Preserver. He telekinetically dominated them numerous times during the fight to where all chance of hope seemed nearly lost. Visas Marr was forced to sever her bond between Darth Nihilus, as well as blocking him from drawing on additional power surrounding him. Even then, the struggle she endured fighting him was said to be the equivalent of being hit by a train, or holding the entire world with her strength alone. Additionally, Mandalore was greatly injured during the fight to the point where he wished to be left for dead and die.

"A scene where the players are approaching Nihilus from behind, he doesn't even turn around as they advance down the bridge. Nihilus turns, raises his hand, and the entire party is raised into the air, similar to Force Crush. He speaks, his voice roaring, and the player should realize that Nihilus is far more powerful than they had believed. Nihilus lets player fall and get to her feet. Nihilus walks over to the player. Player kneels. As Nihilus reaches out with his power, he drains the player with vampiric energy, and then suddenly reels back, collapsing on the ground. Nihilus roars, ignites his lightsaber. Battle!

When Nihilus takes half-damage, he roars, blasting the player and any companions back across the bridge with an effect similar to the Force Wave power. Nihilus lets the player fall, yet Visas still rotates. There is silence - Nihilus has suddenly realized that Visas has changed. Visas still lies suspended in the air. Nihilus turns to face the player, who should be getting to his feet. Nihilus roars, hurling Visas across the room. Close-up on Nihilus, his voice roaring as power emanates from him."

"He... is too powerful... he... I... cannot hold him for long..."

―Visas Marr (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lords)

"Get away from me - I don't need your help. Just leave me here."

―Canderous Ordo (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lords)

Telekinesis (Alter):

Darth Nihilus telekinetically tore a fleet of Star Destroyer sized vessels from the extreme gravity vortex of the Mass Shadow Generator from Malachor V, then held the ship together throughout the galaxy.

"This ship is from Malachor. This Sith Lord of yours bolsters his fleet with the ships from that world... he's nothing more than a scavenger..."

"This ship, is it his weakness? It should not exist, yet it cruises the darkness between the stars. He tore it from the mass shadows of Malachor, along with his fleet, that is a measure of his power."

"This ship is barely holding itself together. The structural damage should have destroyed it long ago."

"He holds it together. And he keeps us all alive, just enough, like rotworms within a dying beast."

―Canderous Ordo and Tobin (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lords)

"The Ravager was hauled from the gravity well at Malachor V by its new master. He used it to escape imprisonment on Malachor V."

―Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lords

"Darth Nihilus' dark will held the vessel and its crew together."

―The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia

"Darth Nihilus, using only the dark side, holds the ship together from his command post on the bridge."

―Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords Prima Guide

Darth Nihilus unleashed a blast of power with such force that it was capable of disintegrating armored Sith soldiers, throwing back Darth Sion, and collapsed some supports of the Ravager itself.

"Nihilus does not move, camera shows him from the front, half side, as Sion walks away behind him. Nihilus turns, dark wave energy exploding from him, blasting Sion back, as supports smash down around him. It would be awesome if Sith soldiers are hurled about by Nihilus' power, or are disintegrated as he attacks Sion. Sion stalks off, disgusted."

Darth Nihilus telekinetically lifted Meetra Surik - one of the greatest Jedi in galactic history, Canderous Ordo, and Visas Marr with a mere gesture, and suspended them like this until he freed them.

Force Drain (Alter):

The content in the next section reflects the umbrella title of Force Drain, also known as Drain Force.

Darth Nihilus's power would have eventually consumed all life in the galaxy.

"He cares nothing for the Sith or its teachings, or the Jedi. And when the Jedi are dead, he will feed on the galaxy, the Republic, and eventually, consume the Sith as well."

―Darth Traya (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lords)

"Perhaps he will grow strong enough to eradicate all life, merely with his presence."

―Visas Marr (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lords)

Darth Nihilus drained the life force of Katarr, wiping out the entire Miraluka civilization there alongside some of the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy including Jedi Masters Dorak, Zhar Lestin, and Vandar Tokare.

"This is my world. My people, the Miraluka, see its beauty not with their eyes, but through the Force. They do not see it has less than an hour to live. Katarr was a world filled with Force sensitives, and it called to my lord. Aboard his dead ship he hungered through the Force, drew sustenance from death. My people never saw his face when he struck, but they heard his voice. When my lord spoke, every living thing on Katarr died. The destruction of Katarr echoed through the Force, the screaming of countless lives. As the Miraluka see life through the Force, we can see death as well."

―Visas Marr (Star Wars: Unseen, Unheard)

"To kill on such a scale... it's impossible. I don't understand - it would have taken several Republic cruisers to destroy the surface of Katarr."

"I have heard tales of Malachor. It is said that many of my people felt the end of the Mandalorian Wars from across the galaxy. But do not mistake me, I did not mean to draw comparisons between Katarr and Malachor... my homeworld still exists. It is intact. The planet was not destroyed, it remains... it orbits, dead in space, but nothing lives on its surface. It echoes, but there is no one left to hear it. I was there when the planet died. To see everything around you extinguished... it... was if I was blinded. It was as if the Force had... been bled from the world. I was the only living thing remaining on the planet of Katar... and my life, my agony, was a flicker in the darkness that was the planet. All that I had been connected to had been severed."

―Meetra Surik and Visas Marr (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords)

"Dark times had come to the Republic. Reconstruction from the Jedi Civil War was still ongoing, and the Jedi Order’s numbers were dwindling. Worse, many Jedi sensed a new Sith threat emerging but could not pinpoint the source. Finally, the Jedi Council called a conclave on the Miraluka colony of Katarr. The order’s Masters, including the legendary Vandar Tokare, gathered to discuss the possibility that the Sith had returned. They did not know that Darth Nihilus, a being of pure hunger and dark side power, was approaching the colony.

Drawn to the assembled Masters, Nihilus devoured the life energy of everything on Katarr. Millions of Miraluka died, along with most of the Jedi Order’s senior members. Walking Katarr’s lifeless surface later, Darth Nihilus came across the only survivor: the traumatized Miraluka Visas Marr, whom Nihilus took as his apprentice."

―The Conclave at Katarr Codex Entry (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

"Darth Nihilus began his Jedi purge by obliterating the planet of Katarr, where a secret conclave of the most powerful Jedi were taking place."

―The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia

"The last known Convocation occured on Katarr some 3,952 years before the Battle of Yavin. The assembled Jedi were slaughtered when the Sith Lord Darth Nihilus laid waste to the planet."

―The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia

Darth Nihilus would have destroyed the planet of Telos and Citadel Station if he was not killed.

"Then her lies will mean the planet's destruction, he will destroy all of Telos. He will turn it to fire again and crush the planet beneath him. He will devour them all, murder them all."

"If there are no Jedi here, then my Lord cannot feed his hunger. He will destroy the planet, the station, he will cleanse it of life. Even if the people below are not Force Sensitive, the small amount he can feed on from the mass destruction of the station, and the life of the planet, will sustain him a while longer."

―Visas Marr and Tobin (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lords)

Darth Nihilus was a destroyer of worlds, consuming worlds with dark side energies with a thought.

"As Nihilus greedy consumes entire planets life energies, the dark side macerates him even faster."

―Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide

"[Darth Nihilus can] devastate and consume entire worlds with a thought."

―Power Beyond Belief: Using Ultra-Powerful Sith Lords in Saga Edition

"Darth Nihilus is literally a destroyer of worlds, powered by an insatiable hunger that drives him to consume greater and greater populations. While one may reasonably expect someone fallen to the dark side to employ Force lightning against a foe, no one expects a fleet of starships commanded by Sith Lords consuming entire planets. Nor would Nihilus tolerate such a rival and competitor for his sustenance. Given the Sith Lord's unique background, it is not the type of ability that would be taught to an apprentice."

―Power Beyond Belief: Using Ultra-Powerful Sith Lords in Saga Edition

"Darth Nihilus was known as the Lord of Hunger and was noted for his ability to literally consume the Force energy of his victims, which was used to sustain his own life energies. It was rumored that he could consume the Force energy of an entire planet.

―The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia

Darth Nihilus drained the energy of Darth Traya, severing her connection to the Force.

"Darth Traya indeed teaches the newly christened Darth Nihilus to harness his life-draining gift to radical heights—so effectively, in fact, that Nihilus saps Traya's powers in a calculated double-cross. But Traya underestimates her disciples' depravity. They turn on her and drain her Force powers."

―Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide

Darth Nihilus's mere presence drained any life around him, slowly killing them.

"And it devours him as he devours others - his mere presence kills all around him, slowly, feeding him. He is already dead, it is simply a question of how many he kills before he falls."

―Darth Traya (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lords)

"Three lords stood above all others: Darth Nihilus, whose hunger devoured all life around him; Darth Sion, whose shattered body was held together by hatred; and Darth Traya, once a Jedi Master but now the Lord of Betrayal."

―The Conclave at Katarr Codex Entry (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

Darth Nihilus drained the few survivors left on Malachor V following its destruction.

"Then, when all seems lost, he discovers that his emptiness hungered. The first time, he fed it unconsciously. Draining another being's life is frightening, nauseating, but for a euphoric moment, the memories, the illness, and the hunger disappeared. But it proves insatiable. The more he indulges it, the shorter the satisfaction lasts and the more severe the hunger becomes. He begins feeding relentlessly, still always craving."

―Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide

Darth Nihilus was stated to be proficient in Force Drain. It is also stated in the sourcebook that he can amplify his Force Drain's powers to be effective as far as a Star System's distance.

"[Darth Nihilus can] draw life energy from living beings, gradually absorbing it [himself]."

Darth Nihilus forced a vision of utter emptiness into the mind of Visas Marr, severely corrupting and damaging her. The vision was so intense that she too became convinced that all life must die..

"He walked upon the surface of my dead world, and there, lying in the bodies of my race, he took me for his own. And he made me *see.* And for the first time, I saw the galaxy. And I wished to die. To this galaxy, my world, absent the currents and spectrums of the Force, was nothing but crude matter, rock, flesh, emptiness. He made me *see,* and at that moment, I longed for death more than anything, even more than in those moments when I had lain next to the bodies of my kind. He showed the flickering of life on other planets, the mass of beings that swarm through the empty places of the galaxy. To see such creatures, disconnected from themselves, their world, their place in it, unable to see the currents and how they affected everything around them. He showed me to make me believe in his cause. He convinced me the galaxy, all life must die. He fed upon its ugliness, its screaming, and in its place, he left silence... and where there was chaos, he brought stillness... and order."

―Visas Marr (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lords)

Darth Nihilus called Visas Marr from across the galaxy when he required her services.

"I need to know where I can find your Master."

"You cannot. His vessel roams the borders of known space, and even I do not know where he travels until he calls for me."
