@grimmwald: It is one of my favorite comic books of all time so I wondered what your thoughts were. Blew my mind when I first read it. Art, story, everything just amazed me.
@aelia_stormwind: Yeah.. it's an issue. Can you remember the last time the section had a team, storyline or atmosphere inspired by something in current comics? I think the last time a CV atmosphere/team/storyline was inspired by comics was the Grimmwald/Hawkshade/Shadowknights thing and me and Impero were deliberately inspired by comic classics from 1986.
How many people on the RPG section could name one current storyline in DC or Marvel? I am sure several could but remember what it use to be like? Even if you didn't read comics you were pretty aware of what the storylines were because so many people on RPG were inspired by them and discussed them. Go back over the last three years and compare how many conversations there are discussing current events in comic books and how many conversations are discussing current events in MMA.
Plus there is the art situation. At one time you could look to the newest comics for the coolest artwork. But now you have to go back five or more years to find really good art for your character (usually.)
Modern comics just aren't interesting and that is the root cause of CV losing all but one of its staff, dozens upon dozens of comic book stores closing and all things inspired by comic books (as opposed to the movies) fading.
