Dark King's Fan-Fic Directory

These are the stories i have been writing most of them are marvel myth based, it's how i see these heroes should be written  not how they are currently treated. i hope ppl will read them and comment.. they are not perfect but it's just something to do when i am bored. This will make it easier for ppl to find the stories rather then scrolling through pages.

Ares God of War: The Executioner

I have always thought that Marvel treats their Godly characters pretty mundanely and if you didnt read comics you be hard pressed to believe they were gods. The one god to be treated as less of a god befitting his station is Ares. i never understood why Marvel has chosen to only give magical powers to a select few in the Marvel god pantheon, these are gods they are suppose to be powerful are the godheads and only a few worthy  enough to wield such power?

I think a god can be given powers without heavily upsetting the Marvel dynamic and power structure, a character can be controlled and scaled back by their own CIS without relying heavily on PIS.

take Ares for example with the return of the Thunderstrike it would be fitting to also have the Bloodaxe make a return and this time be wielded by someone worthy of its power who would not be corrupted a perfect union if you will, that someone should be Ares. It would finally give Ares the boost deserving of his station and title.

Like Thunderstrike in his adventures, Ares could simply have it holstered using it as a weapon when he feels it is needed fighting without it to give his opponents a fair shot at him due to a sense of a Warriors Pride well within the CIS of Ares if you ask me.

I think a great story could be written with this character and weapon, i can see it now Asgardian and Olympian energy coalescing creating the ultimate warrior equal in power and strength to the likes of Thor and Hercules and surpassing their skills. I could see his 1st adventure being to get revenge on both Hercules and Thor being influenced by the Axe before he masters the weapon.

Ares at the last moment able to reassert himself from the influence of the Axe and finally able to stand among the other 2 as an equal. This would also be a good time to redesign Ares armor and clothing a mix between Asgardian and Olympian. I could see it now Ares helmet being a spartan helm with two small protruding horns and the warriors mane. a leathered chest plate with Wolf fur trim, perhaps a Cape, Golden arm bands and leather gloves again with fur trim beneath it. a spiked knee guard on one leg , black biker leather pants and steel toe boots,,... hmm.. a skull belt buckle.

just my two cents.

Myth of the Hero

i have always been a fan of the Myth/fantasy hero, i am more then willing to suspend my disbelief in order to enjoy a good story. My problem with a lot of modern comic stories is that writers and the Universe the adventures take place in, is that they have established rules imposed by the writer or the universe's physics and are then disregarded by writers whether purposely or accidentally which ruins my ability to enjoy the story.

Usually when i see discrepancies in the in continuity it puts me off from enjoying the character and the story no matter how fantastic the comic adventure may be. I get upset when a character displays a new ability solely for the plot of the story even when as the reader one has kept up with the adventures spanning decades and are fully aware the character should not be able to do certain feats. Some characters seem to ignore their own established weaknesses and limitations regularly which makes me not just hate the story but the character itself due to sloppy writing and poor editorial supervision.

I have a hard time accepting a character  where in his universe he is suppose to operate within a certain set of rules of physics but are ignored simply for that character's  namesake and being a popular comic icon without explanation.  The worse part is reading a story that takes place in the same universe where a similar character with similar powers and limitation is not allowed to exceed his own limits similarly and is made clear that exceeding such limits are impossible and if possible would be detrimental to the universe they inhabit.

Having said all this, there are particular heroes and adventures that i do enjoy that do not take place very often in a world of science and set rules. It is rather in the world of Magic and Fantasy, where giants roam and gods walk among men where the abstract is not just ethereal but also has substance.  A World where the rules can be broken without harming the story or the character and still be able to enjoy the story, where no explanation is needed other that it is "magic".

These stories i can enjoy and look forward to reading where   a boy can shout his magic word and become a champion of the gods, where one if worthy can wield the power of the storm.

For these reasons i enjoy reading stories which have ties to ancient myth's of man with a modern twist : Thor, Power of Shazam, Hercules... that or i have an extreme fascination to lightning... :)

that might explain why i like Thunderstrike (Eric Masterson) wish seems to be a very unpopular opinion in many comic boards.
