After the suggestion by Shatterstar for Guardians Of The Galaxy (Vol. 1), and he wasn't kidding, there was a ton of stuff missing. I am wrapping up a few minor things still, but will taken care of. As before I listed what got done below.
1) All creator credits added. It's amazing how little the creative team changed over the 5 year run.
2) All character appearances finished. Also added images to those that had none (Arnold & Norma Astrovik, Ogord, Composite, Samhain)
3) All issues titles added. Most of these and publication date were missing.
4) Story Arc pages created for multi-part storylines. Only 3 defined arcs in the run.
5) Character and teams pages created such as the Commandeers, The Stark, and all Punishers members that were named (there you go, Shatterstar)
Tons of work, but it's a labor of love. Also I don't know if it's allowed to link, but during my search for some info, I came accross a forum on another site with Jim Valentino's plans/outline for what was going to happen through issue #50 if he remained on the title. Some pretty interesting stuff. As always I'm up for suggestions on what series to tackle next.
Similar to last week's Darkhawk themed submissions, this week I focused primarily on everyone's favorite sleep induced hero. What I got done...for the regular series and the Holiday Special.
1) All creator credits added.
2) All character appearances finished.
3) All issues titles added.
4) Story Arc pages created for multi-part storylines.
What is Darkhawk week? I am trying something new out this week, a theme to my submissions. By now it should be apparent that Darkhawk is the subject of this week. There were many reasons for choosing Darkhawk, they are the following...
1) Darkhawk's original series, while having all covers uploaded, was missing much of ithe nformation (story titles, credits, characters). I also created story arc pages for the multi-issue tales.
2) Some characters and creators had worked on the series didn't have pages yet (I still have a couple more to make).
3) With Darkhawk appearing in 'War Of Kings' , I thought it would be a good tie-in for those looking for info on the character's past.
4) And I have every issue to reference when adding what's missing.
It has been fun, and has gained me a fair amount of points in the process. I have scouted out some other volumes for future weeks, but am open to suggestions. If there is a volume that needs some work that you'd like to see finished, let me know.
Who watches the Watchmen?... at midnight? Several hundred people in Portland, Or., myself included. Let me just say that I felt it kicked @$$! I'm not going to dance around it, I thought the movie was done really. Did it follow the comic book exactly? No. Does it matter? No. Was it worth he ten bucks? Yes! The movie did what a movie based on another work should do...tell the story without the viewer needed to read the source material to understand it. There was plenty of action, the fight sequences were great. And I don't know if It was the theatre I was in, but the punches sounded ike thunderclaps. The actors that protrayed the characters were great, especially Rorschach and the Comedian. The movie made Night Owl a super badass, and Silk Spectre made yellow spandex work. Dr. Manhattan was done very well, though I think they could have shown his wedding tackle less(this could also be said for the sex scene with Dan and Laurie). R rated, definitely, and it needed to be. I highly recommend this movie, and not just to comic book fans.
It has now been 2 years since I was plodding through the Internet, probably looking for something comic related, when I came upon Comicvine. I had been to many websites that contained comic book information that you could contribute to, but none with the ease of which Comicvine had. In the past, I had added info to other sites with mixed results, some of which worked and some that the info was never added and no communication or feedback. On comicvine this was not the case. It is a amazing how much the 'Vine has grown in these two years, from approximately 1800 when I joined to the 35,000+ now(I know some people have multiple accounts), but the volume(and volumes) of comic books is incredible. When the rumblings of Comicvine 2.0 began, I thought to myself "how can it get better?" Well it did. I'm a huge comic book fan, and what I love is that Comicvine is a great place for people to share their knowledge and passion for the gift that is COMIC BOOKS!(I know I'm shouting, I 'm excited) Here's to hoping for a two more great years.
Well, after nearly 2 years on Comicvine, I decided to post a review of an issue. Why so long? I have some OCD when it comes to this site. I see something(or don't see something) that is missing or wrong, and I have to fix it. I have a notebook in which I keep a list of things I see, that need worked on and try to stick to that. I hope to do more reviews, maybe set a goal of one per week. I'm not entirely happy with my first, and welcome any feedback on it.
Not really anymore. When I was younger I read Akira, Crying Freeman, Mai The Psychic Girl and Lone Wolf and cub. In recent years I've read a couple scattered issues of stuff.
Easily one of the greatest villians ever. Baron Zemo and the fourth Masters of Evil's conflict with the Avengers is a great story(Avengers Vol.1 #273-277, collected in Avengers: Under Seige) and His forming the original Thunderbolts were both major events.
Thes two issues, while not bringing a tear to my eye, defintely stirred some emotions. Squadron Supreme followed up an already devastating issue #12, of the series. AWC #102 upset me due to the east coasts team treatment of the west coast chapter. Even though I was crushed by the series' end, I feel that this was one of the best issues.
