There is no conclusive evidence if they were or not. It becomes even more complicated with the fact that the Egyptians and Nubians were constantly trying to take each other over. I believe they had Nubians as rulers for a single dynasty but it's safer to assume they were "multi-ethnic".

If I recall, there was going to be an episode of the Clone Wars where Rex and R2-D2 went on an adventure together. Maybe they'll adapt those lost story lines into here.
