Batman doesn't always win. Anyone who's read Batman knows that. He's been paralyzed, shifted across time, lost a sidekick, had a sidekick paralyzed, lost a son...Batman takes a lot of losses.

I think the sentiment is with Batman: You'd better kill him on your first encounter...because if he survives, your tricks will have been good for that first encounter.

I'm happy with Year Zero so far.

Also, I'd rather get some clarification on Batman's back-story (in the new 52) than have a story-arc where he's mourning the loss of his son and dealing with an alienated extended Bat-family.

@veshark: That's exactly what I'm saying. I don't care what channel a show I like is on. I also quit watching the show if it gets crappy.

@rustyroy: I understand where you're coming from, that giving Tim gymnastics skills makes him more substantial (theoretically) in terms of his skills...but it also makes him and the other Robins less unique. It's the whole idea that adding more abilities to a character makes them more interesting rather than just developing the character. Tim is a guy who was already fully formed and didn't really need this tacked on.

@richardjohngrayson: I understand your fandom, but do you really think there's a chance, that if any of this were true, that'd he'd stay dead for any real amount of time?

There are no "sacred cows" in terms of comic deaths anymore. Bucky and Jason Todd are back. No one stays dead anymore. If he dies, just hope it's a good story that lets him go out as a hero and await his return.

If you like horror books, you should give Severed a read.

Also, in terms of cosmic space-opera stuff, (thought it sputtered to a finish) Geoff Johns Green Lantern had some really great stories in the beginning, like the Sinestro Corps War. I read the trades a few years after they'd been out and loved the scope of the story. Fun stuff.

Another good book you can check out in 2 trades is The Mighty, written by Peter Tomasi. It's a super-hero/thriller Lt. Cole, an agent in the world's only super hero's police force who's investigating a series of murders inside his own organization. Great read.

@crash_recovery: aside from that I'm into cosmic superhero comics, scfi comics Atomic Robo, cartoon style comics Bodie Troll, Reed Gunther, super heroes Astro City, dark humor comics like The Goon and Scud the disposable assassin. I only left Marvel from its current comics I still enjoy collecting and reading their old issues and enjoying much more once you look past Stans dialogue he can craft a story. As to DC currently reading the Perez Wonder Woman.

@billy_batson: that's great news, thanks!

@w0nd: I think you're right. Pre-Crisis Superman died along with Connor Kent Superboy.

@selinawayne: This isn't a jab in any sense, but what gadgets would make him faster? If anything, wouldn't they add additional weight?

@bezza: This shouldn't be a surprise. No one ever claimed Superman (or Kryptonians under the power of a yellow sun) were invincible. Surely there are more powerful or equally powered beings. People don't typically read Superman because he's invincible.
