Big News

Now, here is the Big news. I have been CEO of the Comic Book Hall of Fame for 2 Years and I looked around and noticed it's time for a change. With that stated, In 2 weeks, I am stepping down as CEO.   No worries thou, I will be the Creative Director of the Hall. This way, the change will allow me to pursuit things I would like too, without interfering with the Comic Book Hall of Fame. I hope this also shows that I mean what I say, The Comic Book Hall of Fame belongs to all of us, for them.

Have a Great Day!    Roger Rautio,  over at The Comic Book Hall of Fame.

Bringing it to a Physical Reality

Hi Everyone,
Well, we're taking steps to bring this to a Physical reality.  It's kind of weird thou, seeing how we've been doing this for so long online but it's fun too.  On another note, we're changing the name of the Comic Book hall of Fame Induction Awards to The Comic Book Hall of Fame Honors or the Atlas for short.  We feel it has more substance.  In the meantime we're going to start posting different things to keep you coming back and tell you the good news as it comes in.  Until then,

Sincerely,

Roger Rautio

Personal Journey

Hi Everyone,
Well, we've come a long way since we started this.  I remember back in '08 when we barely had 200 fans . . . now we have over 11,000.  We made our 1st public appearance at the Saratoga Springs Con in June, then the Syracuse Heroes Expo in November.  In December we caught a real break when we made a fabulous discovery of rare Silver & Bronze age, Marvel & DC Production Art (which pics of it are still on display here on our site).
Then in June of '09, we met with some of the legends of the industry and it was like living a dream.  We met Gene Colan, Rich Buckler, Walt Simonson, Irwin Hasen, Trevor Von Eden and many more.  At the same time, we helped the Elmhurst Historical Museum put on a Exhibit called "The Drawn Out History of Comics".  It was fabulous.  By that October, we went to New York again and met with Neal Adams, Jim Steranko, Joe Kubert, Andy & Adam Kubert, Herb Trimpe, Jim Lee, Joe Quesada and most of all,  Joe Simon!   Incredible.  When I returned home from that, I felt as thou I was walking in that dream.  Very hard to stay focused but I did.  I had too.  Work had to be done.
Now here it is 2010 and I've returned from New york City, from the NY Comic Con.  It was fun and unbelievably busy.  We met more professionals like Whilce Portacio, Michael Golden, Bob Layton, Adam Hughes, David Finch, Bill Tucci, Ramona Fradon (co-creator of Auqualad & Metamorpho) and J. Michael Straczynski (whose speech to me was very inspiring and I'm glad I had the courage to tell him so.)  We also re-met Herb Trimpe, Neal Adams, Joe & Andy Kubert.  It was very nice.
So, what you maybe wondering is, where do we go from here?  Well, it's time for us to make business connections and to start exploring where the Comic Book Hall of Fame should hold its annual event and eventually be built.  It's time to open the Official offices, it's time to start putting things together.
We are very greatful for all of you being here with us and hope you will continue to do so.  After all,This is our journey.  This is where we've been.  This is where we're going . . .

'Nuff Said.

Sincerely,

Roger Rautio

Comic Book Hall of Fame Meets Walt Simonson!

Hi Everyone!  Summer of 2009 we had the Honor of Meeting Walt Simonson!  Known for his work on Thor & Batman (just to name a couple) it was an Honor to meet him!  We talked about his early work on Manhunter, the Back up stories that ran in Detective comics back in the early 70's that quickly became a front story!  How in the early days DC didn't let him draw covers (Maybe they didn't feel he was ready yet or DC may have had contractual obligations) but Jim Aparo let him draw the headshot of Manhunter on Detective Comics #443!  Good Stuff!  Enjoy!

Comic Book Hall of Fame meets Joe Simon!

Hi Everyone!  Just a little back log story we'd like to share with all the new  fans!  The Comic Book Hall of Fame meets Legendary Joe Simon!  We met with Mr. Simon on October 16th, 2009 at the Wizard Big Apple Con, where we talked about his career in comics that started all the way back in 1939!  Joe Simon is one of the founders of Comics co-creating with his friend Jack, some of the most memorable characters in comics - The Fiery Mask and Captain America, just to name a couple!  It was a great moment for both of us!  Mr. Simon signed a Compilation set of Captain America #1-10 in Gold Ink,  3 copies of The Bronze Age Sandman #1 and the Comic Book Hall of Fame Induction Award Design.   Joe Simon is 96 Years Old and still out there doing it!  Just goes to show you what happens when you do what you love!  Until Then!

The Question of When!

That's a big Question . . . but an honest one. We hope that we are able to establish a Comic Book Hall of Fame within the next 2 years. When we think about that, about 1 million other questions arise - things like where & who & how. I think we can answer those questions together as we accomplish answering each of those questions and at the same time, make it fun. I hope everyone enjoys what we post and we look forward to a million and one Comic Book Conversations!
