Afterlife with Archie is really good......The main series though.....ehhhh. Before they re-launched last month, the stories were ok. The digests were packed with more stories though. Which are pretty good as well. The new volume doesn't appeal to me though.

@spidydy: I would read up on the history of the two characters and series' pre-Flashpoint(2011) before you read them. The continuities change after Flashpoint which wouldn't help you much with understanding those specific books.

Hope this helps.

QUOTE: "In Learning To Crawl we met Clayton Cole, who's a big part of Dan's ongoing storylines."

He's been in like two issues, and was only created for that one storyline.....How is he a Big part of the story???

Same with that character Alpha from way back in ASM 692-694. The only reason he was introduced was for some mini series he was in that went nowhere when it was released. And that was the last time we heard from Alpha. He was introduced a few issues before Dying Wish. It would've been the perfect setup to have him replace Peter, but no, they took a setup or whatever from 100 issues ago and brought back Dr. Octopus so he could become spock. I wonder if Clayton will be around Parker Industries in Vol.4, or become another forgotten side-character.

Vol. 4 .....Jesus, i just realised...

Freaking reboots....

Reboots. Reboots everywhere. Marvel seems to be treating volumes like arcs now. Each time a certain 'storyline' starts, a new arc begins. Is going back to Amazing Spider-man 701( or 719???) too much to do. It'd help way more with newer readers. Because I just typed in 'Amazing Spider-Man volume 4' into Google, and it lead me to 'Volume 3, issue 4,''Volume 1 issue 4' and then the 3rd result was finally 'Volume 4 Issue 1.' Eventually ASM Volume 2 turned back into Volume 1, same with the Captain America and Iron Man Before they again, rebooted in 2012. The newest Spider-Man volume should just go back to Volume 1, since Peter is officially back as Spider-Man, and Spock's storylines are officially done(for now).

*The reboots are coming! The Reboots are coming!*

@zarius: That's true. Two Years of Peter being an executive etc. etc. Maybe having interactions with MJ, and then two years from now it'll be the anniversary. But I mean wouldn't another event have to happen to make it possible? Since technically the original 'deal' storyline was rebooted as being Dr.Strange helping Aunt May live.

I mean Mephisto knows the deal happened anyway, so a storyline could happen before that of which the 30th anniversary falls on, that would lead into Peter asking about the marriage, or possibly something being restored. I'm not so concerned with making the storyline possible, as I am with if the writers are going to be 'willing enough' to do something like that. They tend to get lazy when it comes to writing something fans have been asking for, and usually just get readers hopes up with more storylines drifting away from the original character development. Which from a business perspective, I get that you have to keep the book flowing with new ideas. But at the same time, Dan Slott does this a lot, where he teases future events months-years in advance. To me it's an overused tactic he's done ever since ASM 600, that is just annoying by now, and I think only gets the readers upset. The teasers for ASM vol 4 do look interesting though, especially with Alex Ross doing the covers, at least for the initial few issues.

*Last Note* Has Mary Jane been 'officially' mentioned to appear in vol. 4? I've looked all over the sites and haven't found anything, but I remember reading the forums and someone said that at SDCC, Slott mentioned she'd appear 'somewhere'

@animehunter: Sort of gives me hope RYV's conclusion won't end badly for the Parkers, but you never know. That said, BC underestimate Marvel a bit. They already knew going in RYV would sell like gangbusters. They will sit on the marriage and wait out another opportunity to scratch the itch at a time that is more convenient for them rather than us.

The thing is, is that I don't know if that time will come. I mean as much as I'd love to see the marriage restored, I don't know if it ever will with the current editors running the Spidey-books(They all seem to favor single Peter).

And I would concur with this. They love wheeling it out for the occasional sales spike, but they are committed to their "bad medicine". Hell, to scratch the itch off Jean Grey fans, they basically messed up the timeline and brought in a younger version. To scratch the itch off Wolverine fans, they're bringing in an older parallel world version. Marvel's current creative teams don't want to compromise their vision and desire to constantly move forward without looking back, because it would be an admission they messed up and they always want to feel they are "in the right", but they can still spin things a certain way to make you feel better about their "bad medicine" despite us still being told to take it. We just need to figure out how the Spider-books going forward will try to remedy it for us whilst still not giving us what we want from them.

That's exactly how I feel it's been over at Marvel ever since OMD(In terms of the marriage) Right before 'Dying Wish,' Peter and MJ were starting to reconnect again, but then once Superior started, Spock dumped her in the 2nd issue, in favor of a new status quo. Which I get is necessary for a new character, but at the same time it was all written in an abrupt way(something I think most readers acknowledge) , where certain story elements happened too conveniently(Most of the characters, that arc with the Avengers, Parker industries. etc.)

But then again Secret Wars is a perfect time to bring it back. But who knows, maybe MJ is part of that 'Love Triangle' teased for ASM vol 4. I'm staying optimistic for now since RYV hasn't concluded yet, and we don't know where 616 pete went in Battleworld. But I'm not going to get my hopes up either.

I know everyone wants Annie to move to the 616 (I don't get why, seems like a bad idea that you can't go back on) but what if the thing that lasts is this... The real Peter finds himself in this section of Battleworld and sees himself and MJ married, and this combined with the fact that existence has been destroyed thus the pact with Mephistopheles being null and void, causes him to remember his marriage with MJ and the decision he made to end it to save Aunt May.

That's actually not a terrible idea. It'd be a way to dissolve the current barrier against the marriage. I just think with what we've been given, solicit wise, for ASM vol.4, there isn't any indication he'll be with MJ. But that's true, it doesn't necessarily stop him from knowing about when he was married to her.

@animehunter: Annie possibly being in the 616-verse post Secret Wars makes sense, and it'd be really cool, but wouldn't they at least have solicits hinting at her being in ASM vol.4

The cover to issue 1 has two women slung around Peter, and MJ was vaguely even mentioned for Vol.4. I know this doesn't rule Annie out, but usually Marvel drops some sort of hint months prior to release. But maybe they are keeping something sealed until release for once. It'd make sense since Invincible Iron Man 1 is doing the same thing with it's 'last page reveal'
