@p00ty

You bring up some interesting points, I will try my best to answer them from an limited understanding.

1) You may believe that, but I dont see any evidence for it. The "born this way" was just a political tool used by the LGBTQ community to fight for their causes, it worked! Lots of people believe that. I think a lot of people straight and gay alike wont admit to sexuality being fluid. I'm not talking about bisexuals, or the identity of fluid sexuality. Just that straight people aren't 100% straight and gay people arent 100% gay. But a person may have a stronger attraction for the opposite sex than the same sex, and vice versa. And under different circumstances you may change what sex you will go after. Majority of people are heterosexual, and a very small majority are heterosexual. That isn't the product of nature, it's a product of choices.

As sinners we are told which sexual behaviors are wrong, anything outside of marriage, and isnt between man and woman. That's the golden standard God has set. Look how man or demons are influencing the change of that standard! We have people marrying same sex, themselves, objects, animals, heck maybe sex robots/AIs in the next 10 years. Humans are trying to blur the lines of gender, but that's against God's plan for us. You can probably assume that anything that is against his plan that it will have some sort of negative effect. For example transgender men competing in women sports and beating women like crazy. Whether someone believes in God or not, they ought to see the negative impacts of gay marriage, it lead to even more nonsense such as transgender not being a mental illness because society says so, or trying to blur the lines of gender. Anyways I digest. I don't want this to turn into 100 different subjects at once, I just wanted to make a point that when man deviates from God's plans it has some very real negative effects.

2) I don't really like the argument of if you haven't experienced this then you dont have any clue. But I see what you are getting at, If you look at Genesis a lot happens within just a short bit of sentences. God creates the universe then after a few more passages Adam naming all the animals. So a lot has happened in a very short amount of passages, but that does mean more doesn't happen. If God wanted Genesis 1 to be a science book it would have looked very different and very long. When God says if you eat of this fruit you will die, I'm sure they asked him all sorts of questions. But that is is a lesson for us to have faith in God, if not we surely die. Which is repeated in the bible.

5) why would he talk about Satan? Because Satan was with the king, he was influencing him. That's why they say this to him.

11 The word of the Lord came to me: 12 “Son of man, take up a lamentconcerning the king of Tyre and say to him: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:

“‘You were the seal of perfection,

full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

13 You were in Eden,

the garden of God;

every precious stone adorned you:

carnelian, chrysolite and emerald,

topaz, onyx and jasper,

lapis lazuli, turquoise and beryl.[b]

Your settings and mountings[c] were made of gold;

on the day you were created they were prepared.

14 You were anointed as a guardian cherub,

for so I ordained you.

You were on the holy mount of God;

you walked among the fiery stones.

15 You were blameless in your ways

from the day you were created

till wickedness was found in you.

16 Through your widespread trade

you were filled with violence,

and you sinned.

So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God,

and I expelled you, guardian cherub,

from among the fiery stones.

17 Your heart became proud

on account of your beauty,

and you corrupted your wisdom

because of your splendor.

So I threw you to the earth;

I made a spectacle of you before kings.

18 By your many sins and dishonest trade

you have desecrated your sanctuaries.

So I made a fire come out from you,

and it consumed you,

and I reduced you to ashes on the ground

in the sight of all who were watching.

19 All the nations who knew you

are appalled at you;

you have come to a horrible end

and will be no more.’”

Satan from my understanding is a spiritual being, he can't be in two places at once, he's not this red character with horns, and that satan and demons can only speak through human vocal cords. You see this exactly by when Jesus speaks to demon Legion who possesses a man. Legion speaks to Jesus from the man's mouth like an instrument.

Luke 8:30

Jesus asked him, "What is your name?" "Legion," he replied, because many demons had gone into him.

I would say he answered his prayers because he asked God when he needed something and if it was God's will God made it happen. If he would have asked something that wasn't God's will, then it wouldn't happen. I can't just pray and have a red lambo outside my door tomorrow morning.

I do believe things would have gone differently if he hadn't prayed. Plenty of examples of this in the bible. If it was not for God speaking to Moses his people would have still been slaves. If Moses would have refused, God would have found someone else.

Exodus 14:25

He jammed the wheels of their chariots so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, "Let's get away from the Israelites! The LORD is fighting for them against Egypt."

Just look at George, he prayed to God because he had no food for the children at his orphanage, moments later a milk truck broke down and offered him the milk before it spoiled. Praying is powerful for the Christians if they are in good standing with the Lord. I believe God jammed the wheels of that milk truck, just the same with the chariots.

Perhaps God would have saved his wife from cancer if God needed her for his plan. We are all connected one way or another. For instance God puts toxic or good people in our life for good reason.

@p00ty:

1) That is true. That would be another subject entirely, I would just say genetic defects are different than sexual desires. But to Christians homosexuality is a sin. And like the scripture said sin is sweet. Has there been a gay gene found? I haven't heard about it. I think some people have different afflictions, some may be stronger in other people, while less in others. We can agree that some sexual desires are morally wrong, like sex with children or with dead people, but society is always changing, like seeing a trend in sex robots. Who knows what society will deem what is and isn't acceptable in society. But God is the moral authority, God says homosexuality is a sin.

How would you explain men going into prison straight and coming out gay?

2) Wouldn't telling someone if you do something that you will die enough? I feel like even if God said all men will suffer if you eat this fruit they would have done it anyways.

5) Well it doesn't say Satan is in Genesis either until revelations "serpent of old". Might not say satan specifically but doesn't mean it isn't.

You ask God what is you honestly want, if you strive to be righteous and have faith in him, and it complies to his will. God will answer your prayers. Asking for brand new car to pop outside of your house tomorrow morning wouldn't happen. Have you heard of George Muller and his prayer journal? He had 50,000 entries, and I think it was 30k that God answered his prayers. That would be a good example of the usefulness of prayer.

It's because of America's puritanical roots. Nudity is shameful and sex is a sinful act unless procreation is the goal. Even then it is a private matter not to be celebrated outworldly. The glorification of violence is not much better, but violence with purpose (such as showing the end of "evil" behavior) is justified. Killing bad guys removes the Devil's temptation and that's okay. Yes, both Christ and Moses said killing is a sin, but they were talking about murder. To paraphrase Lee Marvin from another, completely different Mark Hamill movie, "We don't murder the enemy, we kill him."

This is the reason why sex is not okay, but (some) violence is.

fornication is sin, not all sex, just when done outside of marriage. Procreation doesn't have to be the main goal of sex.

Well is seeing so much violence on tv a good thing? A kid will see 10,000 violent acts within a year, is that a good thing? Maybe not so much. Our entertainment has made us obsessed with violence.

Havn't been here in a while. See some new faces. See some old friends. To lazy to get involved in the ongoing topic so i'll ask my own questions.

1) Even if being gay is against God's will. Due to genetic mishaps, isn't it possible that your sexuality got messed up? People are born blind, without pigmentation, with both sex organs, with mental disabilities etc. Is it impossible that they were born with a desire to like the same sex?

2) If God knows all things. Then he knew Adam and Eve would fail. Knowing that, why didn't he prepare them better? You're putting two naive people against a master liar. Then you get mad when they disobey you? Why didn't God warn them that Satan was coming? Sure they could have obeyed with the minimum information they were given. But wouldn't more information and warnings have helped them make a better decision?

3) Isn't the story of Jonah being swallowed by a large fish, completely far fetched? Wouln't he have suffocated after 3 days? Wouldn't he have been killed by the acid and bacteria in the fish stomach?

4) Jesus said "if you have faith you can move mountains". Why do people think that scripture is figurative? In those days miracles were real. So if people could revive the dead, walk on water, control the weather etc. Why is being able to move a real mountain considered unrealistic?

5) Satan knows he is not as powerful as god. The angels that rebelled with Satan know that also. So why would you rebel against someone when you know you can't win? What could Satan have said or offered them that would make them fight a battle you can't win?

1. You aren't born gay, sure others may have a stronger affliction for homosexual desires than others, but that doesn't justify it. Same with pedophiles. or gambling, drug abuses, etc... if sinning wasn't enjoyable no one would do it. Proverbs 9:17

2. Why didn't he prepare them better? He gave specific details not to eat the forbidden fruit and if they did they would die. Pretty cut and dry if you ask me. God could have just not given them free will, but he wanted his children to come to him on their own accord.

3. There's plenty of miracles in the bible, they only sound far fetched when you remove God from the equation.

4. Matthew 21:21 Jesus speaks to the power of faith. But that mountain ain't going to move unless God wills it. We are instruments for God's will. So yes he was speaking literally.

5. Lucifer's pride was his downfall, he desired the position of God and wished to take it. I wouldn't say he knew he would lose, but that he was so arrogant that he thought he could win. The other angels have free will as well, just as he deceived Eve, he was able to deceive 1/3 of the angels. Probably told them they could be more like God, I'm don't know for sure.

@cable_extreme: Nothing here states you have to confess you are a christian. The guy confessed on a public forum he believed in Jesus.

Those scriptures was about the power of praying aloud.

Praying and faith is very important, if you don't have faith, your prayers won't be heard. Doing God's will is to try to live a righteous life and to have faith in him. Hiding your religion or even lying about it shows very little faith in God's plan for you. As Christians we want to be in good standing with God and have a good relationship with him. How can you do this by hiding your beliefs? Thats what I'd like to know.

Hebrews 11:6-8New International Version (NIV)

6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

7 By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.

8 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.

-

James 5:15-16New International Version (NIV)

15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

@cable_extreme: My point exactly, yes you can pray, but God judges the sincerity of your heart.

In Luke 18:10-14, Jesus gives this parable: “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’ But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Notice that the tax collector also prayed aloud, but his prayer was from a humble heart, and God accepted it. The sin of the Pharisees was not public prayer but a haughty spirit.

@cable_extreme: He can't hide his faith forever, which Yousef said he'd try to do. The bible scripture I have shown you clearly says to have faith in Jesus, don't deny him, and to do the will of his father. How can you do this while hiding your faith? You're say hiding his faith isn't the same as denying Jesus, how so? Jesus told his disciples to not deny him for fear of persecution or he will deny him in heaven. What happens when his parents find out what he has said on CV? I've seen it before? Is he to lie and say he doesn't believe Jesus to be the messiah to protect his worldly interests? Maybe a non believe wouldn't be able to understand that part.

1 Corinthians 14:14

For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is unfruitful.

Romans 10:9

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

I'm not saying silent prayers arent useful, but praying out loud has a better effect, we use our hole heart and soul in a request to fight a certain sin, or just speaking to God. I always pray aloud, it feels more sincere to me.

God wants us to be honest with him, that's why Jesus can tell when someone is insincere by reading their hearts. It seems like you are misunderstanding what those scriptures are saying. No where does it sat God wants your heart, and I'm not saying he wants your words either. That last scripture says man only sees the outward appearances while God can see the truth in our hearts. Very clear distinction between man and God. Meaning God is the supreme Judge
