We all have trade paperback (TPB) collections we'd like to see. Here's one of mine:

Proposed Title:2099: World of Tomorrow
Alternate Title
  • 2099: The End
Collecting 8 Issues:
  • 2099: World of Tomorrow #1-8.

TPB Cover: 2099: World of Tomorrow #7

I have to be honest: I don't think this is the greatest idea, and I doubt that Marvel will ever do this trade. That said, I do think it has some potential.

Why? Because this was the last title of the original 2099 line. When Marvel realized it had all jumped the shark, they shut it down, and all of the books were continued in this one title. So for a look at all of the characters in the 2099 universe, this collection would be good as a sampler. Plus, it's kind of wrapping everything up, so it might actually have some endings to it. ...Yeah, I don't know for sure- I haven't read it.

I think this was an anthology title. That is- solo stories for the various title characters, and not one massive story with all of the characters involved. If any of this stuff does make it into trades, it will probably be split up by character in their own series of trades. (Thanks to Maniac2312 who let me know that this was not an anthology title. -cb)

If they did actually do a trade just of this title though, I'd go with issue #7 as the cover. It's got Spider-Man 2099 on the cover, and he's probably the most recognizable character from the whole 2099 line. I know I don't suggest the back cover very often, but I'd go with issue #8 here. It's a great shot of Doom 2099's face, and I'd leave the text, "To all things... an ending!" Shrink it just a bit, and fit some blank space at the bottom for the back cover blurb, and bam, there's your back cover.

The alternate title suggestion of 2099: The End is really a bit flippant, but playing off all of "The End" titles Marvel did at one point could maybe work for sales. I'm not a fan of that kind of thing though, so I'd stick with 2099: World of Tomorrow. But is it worth it? You tell me...
