Writing something into a fancomic to 'defend' iron man does not make it right.
He is still a fascist / Stalinist.
Partial list of crimes: (I did not write this, if you want to discuss it, go to its source)
-Supporting a blatantly unconstitutional Law.
-Failing to provide adequate security for Steve Rogers (a man known to have many powerful enemies.)
-Employing known killers and thugs in the pursuit of unregistered heroes.
-Failing to apprehend known villains in favor of apprehending unregistered heroes.
-Engineering two near-International situations in order to further his agenda.
-The unlawful imprisonment of American citizens
-Attempting to bind non-American citizens to the American Registration Act
-Using the good name of a deceased American Hero in order to trap and apprehend unregistered heroes.
-Manufacturing a negative zone prison in order to bypass both civil and basic human rights. (mine)
The acts of this man are clearly fascist and elitism at its worst.
I mean seriously.. submit or be wrongfully imprisoned and left to rot till you die unless you do that we say? No law can take away basic human rights. No rights? No freedoms? For people who did no wrong?
Nice art on the little comic, but it does not make things right, nor does it really make sense.
I can like the thematic idea of a guy in power armor as much as the next guy, but that does not make me support him as a character when he becomes Stalin 2.0
"The only problem is, I have no idea what kind of superhero I want to create.
I got this all the time in City of Heroes. I made so many alts, I never did get to the level cap.
And I have played since 04.
Not to mention, so many character concepts were killed by its stupid archtypes system.
Thats why I am looking forward to CO! Also looking forward to DCU, but my favor at the moment is far more slanted towards CO, as DCU have confirmed restrictions on character concept as you have to select a single power source.
"i'm actually fed up with the "Superman uses brute strength to save the day" storylines... i'd rather see a storyline with Superman going up against another Hero over what they believe is right.... sort of like Zero Hour with less moral ambiguity...
have a sort of battle where Superman is left wondering if he's the good guy or the villain of the piece
M"
I really like this idea. Its often crossed my mind to have Superman have his morals compromised. Its all well and good for him to sit all high and mighty, but he always seems completely out of touch with the reality of many street level situations.
"I just went on the website and it looks pretty good. But when was the site last updated?"
Right now it is in closed beta, and under an NDU. It is in constant development, and apparently is loosely slated for a spring 2009 release.
The website is also constantly updated, however they are pretty hush-hush about many things and details, as they want to maintain the ability to change things at a moments notice, to make the game better.
[edit] Sorry, my bad. Forgot to include a link to the official site! that site there was a fan site, hence the old look to it! Fixed.
Well, I hear a lot of talk about DCU, but precious little about Champions Online, with threads I found with search many months old at newest post . A pitty really.. Champions Online is looking very awesome right now.
I am really excited about it.. both games look so good that I am unsure which I will be going for. I know I am going to try them both, however!
The wiki is mentioning a lot of very interesting information, which i'll share here. There is also a website here that has a good deal of up to date info, maintained by a comunity member of the CO forums. There are some really good ideas that are being implimented.
First, unlike DCU, we'll have fully open character creation to my knowledge, as you buy powers with points. From what I hear of DCU, you have to take themes for your powers, for example I remember a video hero being 'light based' that could not be changed of mixed up with other powers. CO will allow you to fully customise your character. For example, you can be a martial artist who has a backup pistol. Or you can be a Dragon-man with fire breath. Its not fully known how this works yet, as beta is still under an NDA.
I cant share all the awesome video's shown, but I can show a few very good ones, and share a link with all the video's!
Check out this video. "This is all about total customisation. You can customise everything, your powers, your appearance, even your story and archnemesis."
Characters
The game will feature a more robust character creation than the older City of Heroes, including the ability to edit a hero's movement; for instance, a wolf-like hero may opt to leap on all fours rather than on two, a robot may select robotic, jerky movement rather than humanoid, and a mentalist may opt to float inches above the ground rather than walk. The player may also edit the manifestation of their powers, including color and form; for instance, a heat ray may resemble flames or a force field may have a color specified in the editor.
Heroes will also have the option to have unique weaknesses and disadvantages, such as being extra-vulnerable to cold, in exchange for obtaining stronger powers. In addition, players will custom design their own arch-nemesis in the same fashion as their own hero (selecting a costume, their powers, their name and history), who will appear throughout their careers. If a player defeats his arch-nemesis permanently, they have the option to create a new one or finish their careers without another arch-nemesis.
One significant difference is the elimination of any character class or archetype system — all characters can take any skill or power equally. The game will also make it easier for a player to spend most of his hero's career as a solo hero if they desire.
The game features a paper-doll inventory system, and items physically appear on the character when equipped; the player may elect to remove the item from the visible GUI and still receive the effects from it.
The level cap is at 50, with special endgame content and gameplay at the cap
The game will also apparently accept user generated content. As in, you will be able to craft your own comic-book style story and submit it for inclusion, and people will be able to run your story in the game.
Of course, then there are the complitely comical villains that for some odd reason, I really like due to their ability to make me laugh. And I want to see more of them.
