In the Hulk animated series back in the 90's, season 2 had Bruce with two Hulks. The classic Savage Hulk we all know and love... And the thuggish, cunning, street smart Grey Hulk AKA Joe Fixit. Whenever he got angry from that point it was a crapshoot on which Hulk would come out and even then if Grey Hulk got TOO mad? Savage Hulk came out to play. And I think that's an idea that could work for Jen here. Two sides of her self fighting
She-Hulk being the idealistic heroine she wants to be, as she's always been, and this new Hulk persona being the burning seething rage she feels at the current state of affairs. Again I like the basic idea here, it plays into what Peter David introduced into the Hulk mythos, but I think taking the fun She-Hulk out COMPLETELY is a mistake. Like she's trying to be Jen more which is fine and CAN go She-Hulk, and often does but in BOTH forms there's that.... One persona in the back of her mind that's waiting for either form to get angry.
I think it works because she IS like Bruce, she DOES have a monster underneath, we've seen it come out both in her initial appearances in Savage She-Hulk and in Disassembled and bits here and there over the years... She just has just had it under control... Now that biz? Is over.
Really as sad as it is to see Jen go through this? I think she needed this kind of shake up to her status quo. I mean all the ligther and more fun focused superheroine comics like Squirrel Girl, Gwenpool, Hellcat, even DC's got Harley Quinn... It just feels sort of like Jen wouldn't stand out as much in that demographic at the moment. The lighter fun superheroine stuff.
THIS kind of Jennifer Walters? Where she's the big bruiser with a chip on her shoulder and is gonna be smashing heads like her old cousin? That's something I'd like to see! I'm seeing something like Gravage Hulk for Jen. Where she's not
