We all know the archetype heroes, the ones that define our culture. The ones who you could namedrop to some kid in a third world country and they'd know them. Spiderman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, Captain America, The Hulk. But then, there are the heroes who take a detour around the limelight and are recognized by fewer people, but loved all the same. This list pays homage to the great second-stringer characters. In no particular order.

A faded star, ol' Captain Marvel just ain't as popular as he was way back when. My grandfather actually collected his old comics, his mother threw them out. He could've been rich.

I'm not putting the entire Image universe on this list, even though it is a place for second-stringers. I'm gonna put up the ones I think are most deserving.
