I feel like his decline started much further back, like when he married Madelyn because she looked like his "dead" ex-girlfriend? Then left Madelyn and baby-Cable without hesitation to be with said former girlfriend after all he and Maddie had been through. That doesn't scream 'stability' if you ask me. And then add all the stuff he's been through ... The cracks were already there.
I wonder if the Madelyn/Havok affair subject has ever been addressed by Jean (who gained Maddie's memories at one point? I think?). It must be awkward ... "My brother-in-law had a relationship with my clone, who was married to my high-school crush (his older brother)."

Anywho, for some sad, strange reason, I see Jean's corpse drifting through whatever space the Pheonix left it. Even cosmic beings need new toys, it seems.
I'm not quite sure whose to blame. Sure, Cyclops is crazy for, y'know, hoping his teenaged-adopted-granddaughter will be able to house and control a being of limitless power. It's like trying to manage the entire ocean into a sippy-cup! Good luck, Cyke. I mean, your ex-wife has done a suburb job at keeping it all together when she was attached. And then there's Cap's trespassing and demand of his grandkid with his arsenal of Avengers to back him up... All this could have been solved if everyone just stopped, took a breath, and called together some sort of meeting? Isn't the planet always in peril? Shouldn't they be used to the stress by now??
