@akbogert: Well if you don't give a negative reaction to their remarks how are they supposed to know it was wrong? Most women in those situations do show that charity. I've never heard of a woman suing a man at these conventions over inappropriate conduct even when they addressed that it was. When I went to the NYCComicon I saw a woman cosplaying as Psylocke get her butt pinched and she turned around and told him not to touch and he apologized. I doubt he learned anything from that experience. If she had turned around and socked him he might have or a lawsuit might be a nice little reminder why consent is important, but that wasn't the case.

@betatesthighlander1: There's a difference between "aren't you cold" and "damn look at that ass" and that goes for any matter of dress no exceptions.

I just don't like someone telling someone how they should dress for their safety. Where does it stop? First she shouldn't wear a corset because she might get groped. Next she can't wear shorts because someone rubbed her leg. What constitutes as modest? What does a woman have to wear to feel safe or not to experience sexual harassment?

Instead of pointing fingers at the way someone is dressed we need to emphasize respecting someone's personal space and not using appearance as an excuse to act inappropriately.

Lol come on you have to admit the big yellow x's on the gloves is a bit much, and sometimes it looked like Emma was storing a sandwich in her bottoms

@akbogert: This is true. In the situation of cosplay apologizing would be common sense unless you want a lawsuit though, and it just seems like common decency that if they take offense to your remark you do a quick apology. The level of offense surely matters the cosplayer that takes her paper mache sword and tries to beat you to a pulp with it probably isn't going to take a simple sorry, but at the same time you would have to say something pretty offensive to get that response.

@betatesthighlander1: *Sigh* well I assume that is a personal choice to apologize or not, but in the situation we were discussing you could be charged for sexual harassment so apologizing would yes be the right thing to do. If you want to twist it that much than go ahead.

Honestly I'm not even sure how we came to this point. Something about race and corsets.

So let me state once again.

The way a person is dressed is not an invitation to sexually harass them.

I haven't seen much heated debate. Sometimes people are a$$holes though about it and it can start some micro feuds no one really gives a sh!t about.
