After having read all the conversation, three things stick out to me:

1 - the high heels seem the most ridiculous
2 - ponytailed superheroines would make sense (danger of snagging, being grabbed)
3 - if you're looking at T&A, you're not looking at the possibly familiar face

As a writer (though not of comics), these arguments mean the most to me.  If you didn't care about the characters you wouldn't be buying the book or posting on a site like this.  Well, for the most part.  We also have to realize that these are shared characters so you'll have a writer who's thinking to themself "why in Heaven would she wear THAT?" then that becomes a recurring question that needs answering or at least addressing.

So when and if I create a female comic character, I want to take these things into consideration.  Although I will also say that I like the tight costumes because of the mobility issue (mentioned previously) as well as the distinguishing from general population.  Let's face it, Batman needs to be easily and quickly identified in order to strike fear into his enemies.  There is also the factor of protection, meaning protecting the people.  If some supervillain is attacking the populace then a cape shows up, hopefully they'll attack the cape and not the population.
