Good introduction 0

This was an amazing introduction to the team. The first story arc was spent sending small parts of the the team on different missions which built up to a big battle. The whole while there was continuing subplot that is sure to continue through out the series. This really shed a light on the c and d list characters while also showing team dynamics. I think this book would have gone over better right after Original Sin because of the inclusion of the LMD Nick Fury....

Wanted to like it but... 0

I'm not really liking this first story arc or the writer/editors. First of all, How did Howard the Duck merge with the Nexus of all Realities when it is already merged with the Man-Thing. How did this book make it not only past the writer's desk but to publication with that big of a continuity error. Also why is scout a gold color when the the power cosmic made Norin Radd (and Scout got her poweres from a piece of Norin Radd) mad him a silver color. I know the power cosmic has different effects ...

I've got a confession 0

I like Bendis. Not all of the time, there are times when the script does drag on. but most of the time Bendis can tell good stories with some good dialogue. In this new volume of Invincible Iron Man Bendis does real well of penning the classic character. This is also where Victor Von Doom landed after the Secret Wars and has added a very interesting part to the book. I'm sure that we are all with Tony Stark on not trusting the idea that Doom can turn over a new leaf and I'm going to have a lot ...

Poetic 0

That's right, the word that came to me when thinking of the first story arc of Angela: Queen of Hel was 'poetic.' Not so much the script as the over all story telling. There was something a little more advanced than your normal comic in play during the trials. This created a love/hate relationship for me with this book. I really appreciated the on static story telling style, but it took me a little bit to realize that I had to pay a little more attention to this book than a normal comic book. Th...

Character representation is bad 0

The thing I like most about the Marvel Cinematic Universe is it's representation of the characters and how close they are to the source material. If you read books like The Avengers and Philosophy: Earth's Mightiest Thinkers you begin to see the motivation behind the characters, then you'll see that the movie counterparts share very similar motivations. Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. really does not fulfill with making a comic book where the characters reflect the counterparts from other media though. ...

Creative approach 0

I'm really liking Jeff Lemire's Old Man Logan. I mean like five-star liking it, Hawkeye is a bit of a step down though. I'm not really digging Perez' art style, the minimalist art style really does well of a fun book like The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl but really doesn't match the tone that Lemire presents. The story of the first three issues is very creatively done that shows both the present and an alternate future, not a new idea, but presented in a way that you'll think it's the first time it'...

best ANAD team. 0

This is how a team comic should be written, team dynamics and team synergy. The line-up is amazing, There's classic characters with solo success like Steve Rogers and Deadpool. Classic characters that that have helper drive team books: Cable, Rogue, Quicksilver, and Human Torch. It also brings includes Doctor Voodoo, who has been a very underrated character for years, and the rookie Synapse. The first Arc shed light on Synapse, being the new kid, and her terriginises. If I have one complaint, i...

Amazing 0

I'm through the first story arc in Dan Slott's new Amazing Spider-Man volume and It's left me hungry for more. Slott is such an Amazing writer and probably the best post Secret Wars talent at Marvel. I don't even know where to start here, there was just so much awesomeness going on. Maybe I'll start with the bad news, I miss my old street level Spider-Man, this global, Iron Man type character isn't the same hads in the dirt Spider-Man that I have loved for the past 25 years. However, with Slott...

Good classic spider type story 0

I'm going to do two reviews over the new Amazing Spider-Man volume, 1 of the Jose Molina arc and one for the Dan Slott arc. This one is for Molina's. For a first time writer Molina did great. Yeah, the script felt a little lacking at parts, and I really wished one or two of the Santerians would have gone to Cuba with Peter Parker so we could get to know some of this very rarely published team a little better. But, over all this was highly enjoyable and felt like our old freindly neighborhood Sp...

Another Al Ewing disaster. 0

I have no idea why everyone is singing the praises for this book. It's four issues in and I have all of the same complaints with it as I do with the New Avengers title that Ewing is doing. There was no back story to how this team ended up together, there is no team dynamic, and the story lines are so rushed you feel like you missed an issue half of the time. You mount all of my old complaints that this title shares with New Avengers with the fact that in this issue Ewing has decided to rip off T...

Well written but forced. 0

Mark Waid is such a good writer and his career is full of amazing titles. Waid's work on All-New All-Different Avengers Is no different. Waid used the first story arc in the series to assemble a team and to deal with the Chitari Warbringer. Waid wrote this with great team dynamics and story progression. So, what's getting on my nerves with this? The fact that it seems like Marvel is using it as a vehicle to force the All-New All-Different Marvel characters on the reader. Right now I wouldn't min...

Classic superhero for a new generation. 0

I'm not going to lie, I really like the new Ms. Marvel comics. Kamala Khan juggling being a superhero with school, family and relationships is reminiscent of the old Spider-Man books. Issue three is the end of Ms. Marvel's first story arc in the All-New All-Different Marvel and it included some changes in Khan's personal life, as well as handling being on the main Avenger's team and taking on a solo adventure that includes stopping HYDRA from setting up camp in Jersey City. If I had one complai...

Good cleean fun. 0

Squirrel Girl has just finished her first arc in the All-New All-Different Marvel. So far she has helped the evil robot Brain Drain enlist in college and out-smarted Dr. Doom for the second time, which prevented him from taking over the future after he decided he was going to steal Kang's plan at domination through time-travel. I really can't believe it took Doom that long to steal Kang's plan to be honest with you. Squirrel Girl is a character that I fell in love with during Dan Slott's GLA lim...

The good, the bad, and the "just why?" 1

Let's start with the good, great representation of The Sentry who is one of my all time favorite characters. Al Ewing is right, you can never have too many Hulks. A great return for characters like Night Thrasher, Stick, and Ares. The bad. So The collector was afraid to grab certain characters because they might be missed but he took Tony Stark who is a huge profile then returned him to Earth after the first fight. I read Contest of Champions the first two times that it happened because I wanted ...

This is horrible writing. 1

So.....How did Robert DeCosta choose these people to be his AIM (Avengers Idea Mechanics) team? Why does The Maker single out this group of people when there so many other people in this world he's found himself in that he could go after? These were just two questions I had early in this book that are still unanswered at #7. Most Avengers books will show you the selections process for a new team, like any of Bendis' Avengers titles did. This is just: 'Hi, I'm Al Ewing and I'm gonna be so lazy th...

Keep it simple 0

With so man changes in the All-New All-Different Marvel It's real refreshing for a writer like Collen Bunn to take over a book and change absolutely nothing. So far Uncanny X-Men has been about a group of mutants that are fighting threats to the survival of homo-superior (this time it is a Terrigen cloud and Apocalypse's Dark Riders) while dealing with inner team dynamics. Why does this sound familiar? because it's what has made X-Men books so great for years. This series so far has great dialo...

I'd call Drax passable. 0

While reading Drax I have to remind myself that this is CM Punk's first attempt at an ongoing series and that's probably why it's not scripted all as well as the Annihilation tie-ins that feature the character. The story so far is that out of boredom Drax has decided to hunt down and kill Thanos (like I said, there some things in the writing I'm willing to forgive because it's a first time effort) when he finds himself on a backwater planet where the ship he's piloting has broken down. Drax is r...

Is 'prevenge' a word? 0

i really love Mark Millar's Old Man Logan, I liked reading it, I like telling people about it, it's just amazing and completely unique. Brian Michael Bendis' run during Secret Wars 2015 was probably the highlight of tie-in issues for most readers. Now Jeff Lemire in his second title at Marvel is beautifully continuing the story. Logan has found himself in a new world after the events of Doom's battle world, and what does he do? Decide to go after the people who screw him over in an alternative f...

What I learned from the first 6 issues of Sam Wilson. 0

Captain America can be a Democrat but Isaac Perlmutter can't give money to veterans. The All-New All-Different Falcon is an illegal immigrant.Marvel writers now support WikiLeaks.Wall street is bad.Without Obamacare people will become super villains.Donald Trump can't sue you if you make a villain say he wants to "...make America magnificent again."This is probably the most agenda filled title since Steve Ditko's Mr. A and if you look at Nick Spencer you will see why. He is actually an ex-left wi...
