@billy_batson: I'm guessing the classics have better stories (in terms of storytelling in Batman comic books)?

Most likely and you don't have to worry about continuity when it comes to that series. You could read the Legend of the Dark Knight stories out of order if you'd want to.

I think Batman: Ego and Other Tails is a good start to the canon Batman Comics. I dunno where to go from there unfortunately. I will have to rely on Youtube and old CV threads for the start of this journey methinks.

I also put the Ajin manga series (the first three volumes) and Kick-Ass Vol. 1 (graphic novel) on-hold for pick-up from my local library. I think these are also good choices to read as a pastime.

Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight is a solid series that can be read on its own.

Oh okay, I may check it out. I did have a few questions to ask you, however.

  • Is Batman Rebirth canon and if so, do you know of any good Batman books that will be a good introduction to Batman's Rebirth series? Also, please recommend books that are referenced in the Batman Rebirth series as well if you have the time.

Edit: I tried Googling but I'm getting various answers. I guess there's really no right answer from what I can gather other than the fact that New-52, Rebirth, BATMAN: KILLING TIME and Batman (written by JOSHUA WILLIAMSON) are all canon.

I don't know about that new stuff. You'd think the current series would be in canon. But I'd recommend with the classics.
