She's also going to be in Teen Titans: Earth One. The Teen Titans Relaunch will be keeping the continuity that Lobdell created since the New 52 started, so most of those characters seem ruined beyond salvation. I'm rather looking forward to a new Universe that may treat the characters kinder.
@apocalypselater: Man, I didn't notice it until you brought it up, but you are right. It doesn't look like the shell is attached to the plastron (chest and belly half of a turtle shell) In fact now that I think of it I don't know if I've seen a photo of these new turtles from the front... I wonder if they still have plastron's in this version. I hope so because I'm not looking forward to some gross shirtless scene with superfluous turtle nipples...
That aside, the size is (forgive the pun) a very big issue. Yes they are mutants, but they started (at least originally) as tiny box turtles which don't grow to be much larger than a fist, so the mutation making them the smaller side of human size was already enough. And beyond it hindering their stealth I can't even imagine these guys living in the sewer because how on earth are they supposed to get through the man holes? Lastly with each reveal, the origin script that circulated seems more and more alive in this. In that script they were constantly popping their entire bodies into their shells during battle. The bigger they get the more ridiculous that becomes.
And the lips... oh god the lips... It would be something to transform them from a turtle like beak to a reptilian mouth closer to our own, like a lizard's. Or even something amphibious like a frog mouth. But those full on looks like disgusting and if it weren't for the shell on their back I doubt anyone would guess they were supposed to be turtles first
When I heard of a sequel to First Class i was pretty excited. I felt that in spite of the clashes with comic continuity, First Class was the only X film to really execute everything it wanted to do in a decent way.
Then I learned it would just be another "Wolverine and his Fantastic friends" vehicle...
@joshmightbe: Actually that is only part right. They were mutants because of x-men, Teenaged because of Teen Titans, and Ninjas because of Dare Devil. the trutle part was because they felt it was the most ridiculous animal at the time to turn into an ass kicking martial arts wielding crime fighter.
They were frustrated with how a number of their earlier ides were rejected so they decided to make the most cliche comic with the most senseless heroes as a joke. In doing so they struck gold and found something with almost boundless appeal.
Also note is his "apology" that he never admits that what he did was wrong, but that his "failed attempt of humor offended her" Like saying "I didn't do anything wrong, but I'm sorry you thought I did"
Now I just hope that DC pretends that this run never happens, and cleans up all the shit Lobdell did to these characters.
I have been hoping for this for a long time. Fortunately this team of Titans has been relatively self contained. Their actions haven't done much to the outside books so it shouldn't be too hard to sweep under the rug and pretend like it never happened.
I put better in quotes because it is in a higher definition, but I frankly think more definition on these models only hurts them. The maquettes looked ok (aside from the freakin chins) but in this new image the only one that looks to have a turtle face at all is Donny, tho Leo comes close.
Chins and lips.... What turtle anywhere has a chin or lips?!?
Another interesting thing to note is that the ad labels them as "Ninja Turtles" again dropping the "teenage, mutant" from their title. If it were just that I'd be fine, assuming it was done to make things simpler, but it feels more and more like the old script still has influence here
Think about it. Old script had the foot being a black ops military division, we've already seen that to be true. Old script had a White man playing Shredder, true again. Now dropping the teenage and mutant when the original script dropped them because they were neither seems iffy. Lets not forget that the old script had the shredder turning out to actually be a robot. Looking at the leaked image of Shredder it isn't much of a stretch to see that being a robot...
