"No, Bane. This time I break you!"
Bruce Wayne at a young age witnessed the death of his parents Martha and Thomas Wayne. Enraged that his parents had fallen at the hand of criminals he vowed to avenge their deaths by waging a war on all crime. To do this he trained himself to peak of human strength. He has mastered various martial arts and has a genius intellect and due to his wealth and intelligence as well as the help of two allies Luicuis Fox and Alfred he has a wide array of advanced gadgets.
Let's start off with a couple of factors that will definitely prove trying for Batman to down Bane:
I believe that Batman has the strength to make sure Bane is feeling the blows, as well as the gadgets to mix it up. Batman himself is insanely skilled, aware, enough that he should definitely be able to take on Bane. And he definitely has the durability to take what Bane is dishing as well as the endurance to keep fighting. So let's get into that:
-Trained to mental and physical peak
-Array of resourceful and useful gadgets
-Trained in most forms of martial arts
-Highly skilled combatant
-Expert in espionage tactics
-Peak-Human endurance, strength, speed, durability, and the list goes on.
To get an idea of Bruce's theoretical skill level:
-Hugo Strange, in his psychological evaluation of him lists Batman as an expert H2H combatant is knowledgeable in most forms of martial artists.
Bruce squares up against and defeats Ra's Al Ghul, who's been confirmed to be around for centuries and has trained the League Of Assassins.
Here Deathstroke, who Batman has defeated twice after this (One of which he one-shotted him) shows off insane strength by effortlessly knocking away shipping yard containers which on average weigh multiple tons. This could legitimately put Slade on Bane's level in a least terms of strength. (In case you're wondering, this trailer is canon with the games.)
Arguably one of Batman's better showings of skill comes from here in the initiation DLC from Arkham Origins. Bruce develops cognitive awareness (counter function) which is ridiculously impressive and should Batman on Bane's level of skill.
Here he takes on the Suicide Squad which consists of formidable combatants, and powerhouses alike in the form of King Shark, Killer Frost, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn and Black Spider. He takes on more than one at a time with relative ease.
Takes on and skillfully defeats hordes of Penguin thugs as well as Titan users (I'll edit this post later to include Titan users)
Same as above but instead with Joker's thugs.
A rookie Batman taking on Penguins entire crew.
Takes on multiple Titan users along with Joker goons. Titan users had the ability to effortlessly rip steal apart like nothing.
Before getting in-depth on actual feats, let me clear up what seems to be a bit of a misconception.
I've personally seen a lot of people try to discount feats that show Batman bullet-timing, using feats in where he is put in a isolated scenario face to face with a gunman and opts for stealth among other things.
A few things to consider here.
- This itself is a speed feat for Batman. He dodges two projectiles from an RPG which on average move 115 meters per second. But because he struggles to do so from a relatively small distance and bullets move faster than RPG's this is a reason Batman can't dodge bullets
- Batman had no idea AK had a RPG. This is indicated by the fact that he pulls out his grapple gun before AK pulls out the weapon. As a matter of fact if you look closely in the next few frames of the gif we see he doesn't even have the gun in hand anymore. So basically this is how it played out. Batman pulls out his grapple gun ready to pursue AK. AK (unexpectedly) pulls out a RPG on him and he seemingly puts his grapple gun away and continues to dodge 2 projectiles fired from the Knight
Now to get this out of the way. 1 thing that absolutely everybody forgets when bringing up these instances is that there are impossible odds to achieve for even some comic book peak humans.
Pic #1: In this instance Batman is at least 50 feet away from the man holding the hostage. If he appeared in front of the man (direct approach) he would've had to cover that distance (50-60 feet) before the man could react. I don't think I need say much after that. The context speaks for itself.
Pic #2-3: In those 2 instances there are 3-4 armed men each with guns capable of firing barrages of bullets (don't remember if the gun was specified in the game.). So bullets move 1,700 mph and and there are four (3) in either instance and because he takes the stealth route he suddenly isn't a bullet timer? These instances certainly can't be used to discredit Bruce being a bullet-timer.
Final speed thing I'm gonna cover is projectile instance in AC and AA.
Both have different contexts so I'll cover both separately.
Now this is much more difficult to counter but I'll do my best.
All I can really say for this one is Bruce was definitely not in the right state of mind/at his best during the Harley Quinn's Revenge DLC.
He blames himself for the death of his nemesis and the death of Talia Al Ghul his love interest and was still not fully healed from the disease. Even Oracle and Robin comment on this more than once throughout the DLC. All this adds up to a definitely not fully functioning Batman.
This one's a little easier to counter. Batman had just endured a whole night of pain, beatings and psychological torment. And to sum it up even more, if the idea is to make sure Gordon doesn't get shot, if he were to grab Gordon, and push a likely 200+ pound man, with his own wide frame, it only ups the possibility of something going awry. And lastly:
The whole video is worth a garner just to see how he dismantles the Squad, but yeah that one of the speed feats I wanted to show
Sorry in advance because I legit just posted nearly the entire video which is 20 minutes. If you don't mind however I would like you to watch the video from where looped it from. Most of it is a testament to how strong Croc now is. Only for Batman to straight merk him with his bare hands. Nightwing chips in a little too :)
Breaks out of Solomon Grundy while he is being powered by the source which puts him on ridiculous power levels.
Takes a beating from TYGER guard without his suit.
Batman gets drugged by the Joker. In spite of this, it still take Harley 3 swings with a baseball bat to the least guarded part of his suit to finally knock him out.
After getting a blood transfusion continues to go fight penguin, Solomon Grundy and Ra's Al Ghul.
And all of this happened in one night.
Takes blows from TN-1 Bane and gets repeatedly hit in stomach and eventually gets hit so hard he's punched through a wall.
-Above are many instances if Batman taking on enemies just as skilled and as strong as Bane. He has taken hits from powerhouses and has the ability to keep fighting.
-As shown, he's humiliated Deathstroke who is no joke.
-Gadgets can make things really interesting. I'll get into that a bit more in my next post.
-Batman combat speed should be on par if not above that of Bane's which makes close quarters combat interesting.
-Note how I made that last point sound more like an option than a necessity. As it is Batman has more options and certainly has the tactical prowess to do so effectively
@batmanplusjay Says location tbd because I forgot to ask you and I remembered that's pretty important lol. Where do you want the location to be? Also, do you mind if I use Assault On Arkham feats?
-Starting Distance: 25ft.
-Just ask for a tag if you want to vote
Please remember when voting, if possible, to give a reason for your vote. I know that for myself and likely my opponent that it gets annoying when voters vote for the more popular character. Also, again this is a CaV. Your opinion is respected but please avoid or refrain from saying stuff like "Batman/Cap would win" as that is not the point, but rather you're voting for who put forth a better argument.
Location: Abandoned Building
Little is known about the mysterious man known as Talbot, save for his allegiance to Katherine Marlowe and the secret order to which they belong. His dignified and regal bearing mask a sadistic streak, displayed through his liberal use of hallucinogens and hypnosis to get what he wants. Some speculate he has training as a magician; true or not, he's certainly capable of making people disappear.
-Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Talbot has a lot of high-end feats, due to in part to what a lot speculate to be a background in magic and illusions.
This is a showing for Talbot's speed but also the resources he has at his disposal as part of the Hermetic Order.
Here, Talbot gets shot and initially goes down, but presumably keeps up with Charlie showing himself to be relatively unharmed.
Throughout the clip are a montage of probably Talbot's most impressive feats. He and Nate fall off probably a 5 story building and shrugs it off. He and Nate fight and Talbot seems to have the upper hand for most of the fight. Outright tanks a bullet once again, and stomps Sully again. Failure to save Sully shows Talbot lifting a giant rock and smashing Sully with it. To even stun Talbot you have to shoot him multiple times, which doesn't even kill him outright. His death is rather in the ensuing fall off the cliff
So just to wrap up, just by word and reputation Talbot is a force to be reckoned, who throughout the game has caused speculation among protagonists in the game if he is indeed a magician. Talbot is a physical beast, and his quickness and durability will be the biggest factors in this fight. In the clips above, you will see he usually keeps a knife, a gun, and different drugs, which will prove valuable in this fight. Hopefully, I'll be able to talk CQC and melee more in-depth next post.
