"I made, yes, a Dark Elf, and yes, it's a girl, I know you can tell it's a girl. Girls are better than guys, it's just-it's just truth, okay? So this is our character along this journey, her name is Vahl, spelled V-A-H-L." - Jordan Frye at the first episode of A Skyrim Tale.

Hello Everyone, I am the Bat Siri and this is my Review of Doctor Who Season 9 Episode 1 and 2: The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familar.
Brief Plot Summary: Davros is Dying and his fianl request is for the Doctor to visit him. Meanwhile on Earth, Missy/Mistress (Or Whatever) recruits Clara to help save the Doctor from his "Death" as Missy recieves the Doctor's Confession Dial. The Two track the Doctor down to the Middles Age and they are eventually captured and sent to Skaro where they Must Escape and Stop Davros' evil plan.
Acting: As usual for a show like Doctor Who, the Acting from all the members of the cast is up to good quality with Notable shoutouts going to Peter Capaldi for his Great Portyal as the Doctor in which is definatly a step up from Last Season, Michelle Gomez for her Entertaining performance as Missy with Much better writing than last season and just as, if not, even better energy than Last Season and finally... The One, The Only, DAVROS!!!! played by Julian Bleach who gives a Bone Chilling performance even better performance than the time when he Last played Davros during the Season 4 Final Stolen Earth/Journey's End and i give him Bouns Points for show Davros's "Emotional" Side with the "Eye Opening Scene" and the Joke "Your Not a Very Good Doctor" which was able to get a laugh out of Me. The Only Actor which i had problems with was Jenna Coleman who plays Clara. Granted, Jenna plays the role of Clara very well and i enjoy all the scenes she's in however, She's the Most Boring Character in this Episode and is given Nothing to do other than act as a was for the Doctor to get pissed offed and lose Control and that other scene.... You the one im talking about.
Writing: The Writing in Both Epsiodes feel very cramed, as if Moffat was trying to fit as much as he could into the Episode, as well as very fanfictioney for example there's a scene in Witch's Familar where Missy Goes "He gave me this pendant after my daughter..." then interuption than we never hear anything about it again for the time being. You see, in all his recent scripts Steven Moffat adds plot points which he will either ue later or never come back to again to try and World Build, which is fine by me, i have no problems with World Building, My main concern is that he uses this as a way to make the world of Doctor Who expand and then just leaves it in the dust. Also the dialogue feels very plastic to me, it doesn't feel real except for a few occanions such as 2/3 of the Major Scenes with Missy and Clara and the Doctor and Davros' scene but apart from those exceptions, the dialogue seems rather unreal. As one final point, these two episodes feel if they are writen as Season Finals which is not a bad thing but its just so glaring here as the Season Opening, i know Moffat wants to make the openers feel Grand but it just gets boring after awhile of seeing "Grand" Doctor Who season openers, bigger and grander does not always mean "Better" Moffat.
Final Thoughts:Overall, The Magician's Apprentice and The Witch's Familar are very enjoyable episodes although the Writing was Off and the episode has a feel of a Season final. However it has just as many Good Points to back it up such as the Expanded Doctor/Davros and Doctor/Master (Missy) Realtionships. So ill give this Epsiode a 3/5 Just as many good things as there are bad.
Well, this is my first Doctor Who Episode review, Please Leave your own opinons and give me some feedback thats always welcome. Peace.
