Sha Koon Respect Thread

Killer of younglings. Betrayer of friends. Destroyer of the Jedi to whom you claimed allegiance. Animal. I have longed for this day.

—Sha Koon

Greetings, Comicvine! After a very long hiatus, I'm back with another respect thread! This idea was given to me by my very good friend @fated_xtasy who thought I should make it because of my previous work with Plo Koon. So here it is! Enjoy the read, guys, and May The Force Be With You! Respect Sha Koon!

ACCOLADES

Sha Koon comes from a long line of Jedi that was considered to be strong in the Force:

“I also acknowledge the Council’s observation that the Force runs strong in my family. My uncle was a Jedi Knight, as is my niece Sha Koon.”

The Essential Guide to the Force (Plo Koon)

“Over the centuries, many of the Koon family have been Baran Do. The Force runs strong in that line, as, it is said, in the Skywalker line. It is said of Plo Koon that he never grew weary of living among oxygen breathers, of having to cope with claustrophobic masks and strange faces. Me, I would grow weary of it within weeks or months.”

Fate of the Jedi: Outcast (Tistura Paan)

FARSIGHT

Farsight is the Jedi power to look into the future or the past and receive visions from the Force. Jedi can often perceive future events, but such visions are often unreliable as always in motion, is the future.

Sha Koon experienced a vision of the future upon her death, wherein she saw the fall of the Galactic Empire and the rise of the New Jedi Order:

All my scattered thoughts flitting by in a torrent between heartbeats. I die knowing I have failed. No. In the moment of my death, in this now, the Force shows me… What will be. A son, a daughter. Strong in the Force, Skywalker’s children. The Jedi reborn. Renewed. No. Please, no. The light… Snuffed out… when it was barely begun…? No! Skywalker… Atones? Remembering himself… Turning on his Master… Bringing the balance. And with the son… the Jedi truly return. The future does not depend on me. There is no death. There is only…

BEAST CONTROL

A branch of telepathy, Beast Control is commonly used to refer to the ability to telepathically compel beasts and other primitive creatures into obedience. Creatures under the effects of this power can be forced into attacking the controller's enemies or they can be rendered passive.

Sha Koon was very skilled in the use of the Beast Control ability, using it to mentally dominate a pack of Cthons and forcing them to attack Darth Vader:

I have made friends during my stay here. The Cthons, for example, are easily controlled and dominated with the Force. They are primitive folk, but they have useful bits of technology. Such as these electroshock nets.

TELEKINESIS

The most basic and well-known of Force abilities. Telekinesis is an umbrella term encompassing the ability to manipulate objects and people. Abilities that manifest under this term include Force Push, Force Pull, Force Choke, Force Wave, Force Repulse, and Force Crush.

Sha Koon uses telekinesis to throw a pair of Clone Troopers off their feet while she escapes the Jedi Temple:

TELEPATHY

Telepathy is the ability to read or communicate with another's mind from across great distances. Advanced users of this ability can communicate with--or mentally subjugate--multiple individuals at a time.

Prior to being brought to the Jedi Temple for training, Sha Koon was able to read Plo Koon’s thoughts through their telepathic bond:

Perhaps it was because we were both strong in the Force that we shared an unusually intense telepathic bond. I knew without anything being said that he had come to take me to train as a Jedi.

—Purge: Seconds to Die

Sha Koon uses her bond with Plo Koon to telepathically communicate with her uncle from across the galaxy and relays his words to the Jedi Council:

During the Stark Hyperspace Conflict, Sha Koon received a telepathic message from her uncle, asking for assistance in fighting the forces of the Stark Commercial Combine on Troiken.

—The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia

My Master Saldith and I. The Jedi High Council. Thoughts from my uncle far away on Troiken during the Stark Hyperspace War reach me. I tell the Jedi. I save my uncle.

—Purge: Seconds to Die

Sha Koon uses her telepathic abilities to read the thoughts of her padawan Baylis Archan, as well as use her telepathic abilities to understand the currents of his mind:

Later, when I am a Jedi Knight, I am given a Padawan – Baylis Archan. Corellian born, he too had a touch of telepathy and so my training him seemed natural. He had such a playful mind, like a fast moving river in which his thoughts were like fish, darting and sparkling.

—Purge: Seconds to Die

Sha Koon feels her uncle’s death through the Force with such intensity that she passes out:

Sha Koon senses the murderous intentions of the 501st Clone Troopers storming the Jedi Temple:

Through her telepathic abilities, Sha Koon feels the screams of Jedi being killed during Order 66:

Sha Koon’s telepathic abilities allow her to enter the fallen Anakin Skywalker’s mind and perceive his thoughts:

Skywalker?! In the Force, in his mind, I feel it. Thoughts like ice, emotions burning like a pit of fire. He has gone to the dark side. He is the Sith.

—Purge: Seconds to Die

Sha Koon’s telepathic ability allows her to pierce Darth Vader’s mental barriers and reveal his true identity:

Beneath that mask – Skywalker?! I know him in the Force – and from his thoughts!

—Purge: Seconds to Die

COMBAT ABILITIES

Sha Koon duels Darth Vader in single combat, outmaneuvering him through speed and agility and scoring a hit on him. It isn’t until Darth Vader brings his superior Force power to bear that she is defeated:

"She became indignant that Jacen should dare speak for the living Force. The implication was that someone so small in the great cosmos shouldn't dare presume to speak for such a powerful thing. But the fact is, the living Force can choose anyone it wants. Size is not important. Master Yoda was smaller than anyone here, yet he was the wisest person I ever met-as well as one of the most powerful Jedi Masters to ever live. —Star Wars: The Legendary Yoda

“Do. Or do not. There is no try.” “Judge me by my size, do you?” “Great warrior… Wars not make one great.” While he is the most powerful Jedi, it’s Yoda’s wisdom that continues to resonate with fans today. In The Empire Strikes Back, he does much more than instruct Luke Skywalker in combat or prepare him physically to fight Darth Vader; he readies his mind and tries to curb the boy’s impatience and anger, which is something that’s much harder to do. And through that, Luke — and the audience — learns that there’s much more to being a Jedi than adventuring. Of course, he also is a great warrior, as seen in the prequels, taking on Count Dooku, clone troopers, and Darth Sidious. Taken together, Yoda is the ultimate Jedi Master.

—StarWars.com

"Battle of the ultimate Masters. That’s what this fight is, as it moves from precise lightsaber combat to an awesome back and forth display of Force wizardry. The Emperor revels in unleashing his power, gleefully tossing Senate pods at the Jedi Master and cackling as he blasts his “little green friend” with Force lightning; Yoda is calm and determined, able to evade the attacks and absorb Sidious’ dark side powers. As a meeting between arguably the two most powerful beings in the galaxy, this battle does not disappoint. And it reinforces what we learn in Return of the Jedi, which is that the Emperor wants to fight, as the fight is where he thrives — Yoda learns this the hard way. While he holds his own with the Sith Lord, even the ancient Jedi cannot outright defeat him."

—StarWars.com

There came a turning point in the clash of the light against the dark.

It did not come from a flash of lightning or slash of energy blade, though there were these in plenty; it did not come from a flying kick or a surgically precise punch, though these were traded, too.

It came as the battle shifted from the holding office to the great Chancellor's Podium; it came as the hydraulic lift beneath the Podium raised it on its tower of durasteel a hundred meters and more, so that it became a laserpoint of battle flaring at the focus of the vast emptiness of the Senate Arena; it came as the Force and the podium's controls ripped delegation pods free of the curving walls and made of them hammers, battering rams, catapult stones crashing and crushing against each other in a rolling thunder-roar that echoed the Senate's cheers for the galaxy's new Emperor.

It came when the avatar of light resolved into the lineage of the Jedi; when the lineage of the Jedi refined into one single Jedi.

It came when Yoda found himself alone against the dark.

In that lightning-speared tornado of feet and fists and blades and bashing machines, his vision finally pierced the darkness that had clouded the Force.

Finally, he saw the truth.

This truth: that he, the avatar of light, Supreme Master of the Jedi Order, the fiercest, most implacable, most devastatingly powerful foe the darkness had ever known... just-didn't-have it.

He'd never had it. He had lost before he started.

He had lost before he was born.

The Sith had changed. The Sith had grown, had adapted, had invested a thousand years' intensive study into every aspect of not only the Force but Jedi lore itself, in preparation for exactly this day. The Sith had remade themselves.

They had become new.

While the Jedi-The Jedi had spent that same millennium training to refight the last war.

On Coruscant, Yoda and the Emperor meet in the ultimate confrontation between the galaxy's most powerful masters of the Force.

—Hasbro: Yoda action figure

Inside the spacious interior of the Galactic Senate chamber, Yoda challenged the Emperor. The two engaged in a spectacular duel—a contest between the most powerful practitioners of the Force’s light and dark sides.

Master Yoda is considered to be potentially the greatest Force Master ever:

Yoda:

Jedi Master, Grand Master, Master of the Order; Famous teacher; Perhaps the greatest Master of the Force ever.

—Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need To Know (Credit to Zapan87)

Master Yoda is considered the living embodiment of the Will of the Force:

Almost 900 years old, Master Yoda was the longest living Jedi and the grand Master of the Jedi Order in the days before the Empire. He trained thousands of Jedi students in the Temple's classes and saw hundreds become Jedi Masters. Everyone on the Jedi Council was at one time his student, and they all considered him the living embodiment of the will of the Force. Perhaps only Master Mace Windu equaled him in skill and reputation—Though Master Windu argued that he was still but a Padawan compared to Master Yoda.

Farsight

Farsight is the Jedi power to look into the future or the past and receive visions from the Force. Jedi can often perceive future events, but such visions are often unreliable as always in motion, is the future.

Master Yoda was renowned for his precognitive powers:

Yoda was also renowned for his sense of precognition, which alerted him to extreme danger in time to avert an immediate threat or take evasive action.

—Jedi vs Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force

In addition to his age, Master Yoda’s powers of Farsight were one reason for Yoda possessing the ultimate position of authority on the Jedi Council:

Yoda was the most senior member of the Jedi High Council in every respect. His position of ultimate authority was justified not only by his age but also by his powers of perception.

—Star Wars Fact Files

Master Yoda was one of the greatest practitioners of Farsight during the Old Republic era:

One of the greatest practitioners of Farsight during the Old Republic era, Yoda’s meditations often led to visions that helped guide the Jedi on missions throughout the galaxy.

—Jedi vs Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force

Master Yoda’s wisdom in the realm of Farsight and visions granted by the Force was such that he was able to record his teachings in the Great Holocron:

Often difficult to see, the future is, like searching for raindrops beneath the surface of the water. But raindrops do fall, and discerned in the depths, they can be. Fleeting can be visions of the future, momentary glimpses of both the familiar and the strange. More dangerous are clear visions, as easy it is to confuse clarity with the truth. Truth can be murky, and crucial is perspective to any vision.

See you do from the right angle at the wrong thing, or from the wrong angle at the right thing? No perspective is fixed.

Frequently am I asked if inevitable is the future. Do visions reveal what may be or what will be? Know you will when a vision is what will be. Feel it by the Force you will. Know you will whether to chase raindrops before they fall or remain where you are. Stay where you are, and move you will anyway. Always in motion is the future.

—Master Yoda (Jedi vs Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force)

Master Yoda’s powers of Farsight were well known even during the time of the New Jedi Order:

His uncle's Master, Yoda, was known for his wisdom and ability to see pieces of the future. Jacen had never really felt he'd been gifted a vision by the Force, but it did seem to him as if this was just the sort of thing a vision like that would entail.

—New Jedi Order: Dark Tide: Onslaught

Luke Skywalker believed Master Yoda told him of the Ones of Mortis because he sensed that Luke would one day need that information:

Luke shrugged. "That might be a stretch," he said. "But Yoda must have sensed that I would need to know about Mortis someday."

—Fate of the Jedi: Apocalypse

Yoda senses that Obi-Wan Kenobi will become an apprentice to a Jedi Master:

Obi-Wan felt his hopes dim. Qui-Gon had rejected so many students. What made him think that he would be able to please him?

“He won’t want me,” Obi-Wan said in defeat. “He’s seen me fight before, and he did not choose me then. No one will.”

Yoda squinted up at Obi-Wan with wise eyes. “Hummmph! Always in motion the future is. One cannot be sure, but I have sensed . . . a kinder destiny for you.”

Something in Yoda’s tone made Obi-Wan wonder. “Will he choose me?” he asked.

“On Qui-Gon that depends – and you,” Yoda said. “Come back tomorrow and fight for him with the Force as your ally. Perhaps accept you he will.” Yoda put a comforting hand on his arm. “Either way, it matters not. Leave the Temple soon you shall. But tell you I must, to lose such an apt pupil, I am sorry.”

—Jedi Apprentice: The Rising Force

Yoda foresees that Obi-Wan Kenobi will fight before Qui-Gon Jinn:

“Obi-Wan Kenobi must be allowed to fight before Qui-Gon Jinn this day,” Master Yoda said, just as a bolt of lightning snarled through the clouds below. “I have foreseen it.”

—Jedi Apprentice: The Rising Force

Master Yoda shares a vision with Luke Skywalker:

'Be calm,' Yoda told him. 'Through the Force things you will see: other places, other thoughts, the future, the past, old friends long gone.'

Luke was losing himself as he concentrated on Yoda's words. He was becoming unaware of his body and let his consciousness drift with the words of his master.

'My mind fills with so many images.'

'Control, control you must learn of what you see,' the Jedi Master instructed. 'Not easy, not fast.'

Luke closed his eyes, relaxed, and began to free his mind, began to control the images. At last there was something, not clear at first, but something white, amorphous. Gradually the image cleared. It seemed to be that of a city, a city that perhaps floated in a billowing white sea.

'I see a city in the clouds,' he finally said.

'Bespin,' Yoda identified it. 'I see it, too. Friends you have there, heh? Concentrate and see them you will.'

Luke's concentration intensified. And the city in the clouds became clearer. As he concentrated he was able to see forms, familiar forms of people he knew.

'I see them!' Luke exclaimed, his eyes still shut. Then a sudden agony, of body and spirit, took hold of him. 'They're in pain. They're suffering.'

'It is the future you see,' the voice of Yoda explained.

—The Empire Strikes Back novel

Master Yoda looks into the past after entering meditation:

Yoda's ears slowly drooped as he sank deeper into the Force, time melting out beneath his mind like rotten ice, setting past and present free to mix together. That proud boy in the garden sixty years ago who murmured, Every Jedi is a child his parents decided they could live without.

Little Jang Li-Li, eight years old, misting the orchids in the Room of a Thousand Fountains. A bright day, sunlight pouring through transparisteel panels, Li-Li making puffs of water with her mister and shrieking with laughter as every little cloud she made broke a sunbeam into colors, fugitive bars of red and violet and green. Master, Master, I'm making rainbows! Those colors hadn't come to mean military signals, yet, or starship navigating lights, or lightsaber blades. Just a girl making rainbows.

Dooku newly brought from Serenno, grave-eyed, old enough to know his mother had given him away. Old enough to learn one can always be betrayed.

—Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

Master Yoda senses that Luke Skywalker and his sister would have a part to play in the time after the Great Jedi Purge:

Yoda’s gift of prophecy remained. He knew that the children of Padme and Anakin would play their parts in the conflicts to come, and that the little boy in particular, Luke Skywalker, would one day face his father.

—Star Wars Fact Files

Master Yoda searches through the fog of the dark side to peer into the future and receive brief but vague glimpses of something worse than war:

Palpatine stared at them for a moment, then turned. “Master Yoda, do you think it will really come to war?”

Yoda closed his eyes and folded his long, flexible ears down, the better to feel the future shifting of the Force. The dark side hung like a thick fog over everything, hiding even the near events that usually were so clear, and growing more dense the further ahead he tried to look. Lightsabers flashed blue and green in the fog, but few, too few, and he caught more and more glimpses of a glowing red that no Jedi would ever wield. “Worse than war, I fear,” he murmured. “Much worse.”

—Attack of the Clones junior novel

Master Yoda senses perils worse than the Clone Wars that the Jedi Order must face:

As the end of the Clone Wars draws near, he foresees that the most significant dangers to the Jedi Order have yet to be faced.

—Revenge of the Sith Visual Dictionary

Master Yoda had foreseen that the Clone Wars would spread across the galaxy like a virus:

As Master Yoda had foreseen, the Clone Wars spread like an explosive virus throughout the galaxy.

Force Concealment

Force Concealment and abilities such as Force Stealth govern the ability for a Force user to render themselves undetectable by non Force-Sensitive and Force-Sensitive individuals alike.

Master Yoda conceals his presence from Luke Skywalker:

The Jedi Master masked his presence until he was right beside the young man and his droid, and his sudden arrival startled both of them.

–Star Wars Fact Files

Master Yoda hides his presence in the Force from Count Dooku, despite being on the potent dark side nexus of Vjun, which would have debilitated his ability to call on the Force:

Count Dooku sat at the desk in his study, pretending to read the day's dispatches from the Clone Wars, but actually listening to the ceaseless Vjun rain tick-spattering against the windows behind him. Listening, too, with a sense other than hearing. Yoda was close by. He was moving carefully, quietly, hiding his presence in the Force; riding on its back like a leaf whirled gently down a stream. But on Vjun, the Force was bent mightily to the dark side, and every now and then the Master opposed its current. It was these moments Dooku was listening for.

Once, several minutes ago, the old Jedi had misstepped, putting a foot against the current, and the shock of it had rumbled through the very bedrock beneath Chateau Malreaux, announcing the Master's coming like a distant groundquake. Or maybe it hadn't been a mistake. Maybe Yoda wanted Dooku to know he was on his way. Since then the world had been silent. The old Jedi was moving like a water-skeeter over the surface of the Force, with nothing to herald his coming but a faint sensation of heat on Dooku's skin, as if he were a blind man at sunrise, the dawn invisible to him but for a pale, spreading warmth.

—Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

Master Yoda withdrew from the Force as much as possible on Dagobah:

Yoda, meanwhile, went into hiding on the swamp world of Dagobah. Its rich biosphere did much to hide the Jedi Master, and he withdrew as much as he could from the Force.

Master Yoda runs faster than a human could run:

With the help of the Force, Yoda sprinted along the service accessway below the Arena faster than a human being could run; he sliced conduits as he passed, filling the accessway behind him with coils of high-voltage cables, twisting and spitting lightning. Every few dozen meters, he paused just long enough to slash a hole in the accessway's wall; once his pursuers got past the cables, they would have to divide their forces to search each of his possible exits.

Master Yoda evades the tracking missiles of a Hailfire Droid, displaying evasive maneuvers that a clone trooper likened to the maneuvers a starfighter pilot would perform:

And then, across the square, the hailfire droid stirred and began to roll forward.

"Look out!" Brolis called. "There's a-" The rest of his warning dissolved into a fit of painful coughing. But Yoda was already angling across the square away from him, lightsaber held ready as he slipped from one pile of debris to another. The hailfire shifted direction toward the small Jedi Master, swiveling to keep its missile launchers trained on him.

And then, midway between two stacks of rubble, Yoda stopped, facing the droid as if challenging it to a private duel. The droid stopped, too, and for a moment they seemed to be regarding each other. Then, almost delicately, the droid lowered its pods and sent a single missile sizzling through the air.

Brolis tensed, watching helplessly as the rocket streaked across the open space.

Jedi lightsabers, he knew, could defend quite well against the bolts from blasters or plasma weapons. But trying to block a missile that way would merely cause it to explode. If Yoda didn't do something fast, he was going to die.

Then, just as it seemed there was no chance left, Yoda leaped almost casually to the side. The rocket burned through the space he'd just vacated, exploding harmlessly a dozen meters behind him.

From somewhere deep inside the hailfire droid came an annoyed-sounding rumble, the first time Brolis had ever heard one make a noise like that. For a second or two it seemed to be pondering its next move. Then, in rapid succession, three more missiles burst outward, angling into a tight spread as they flew.

Yoda was ready. He leaped back toward his earlier position to let the first pass by, dropped flat onto the ground as the second shot over his head, then rolled and bounded upward in time to avoid the third. He landed on the ground, lifted his lightsaber again to ready position, and waited. Brolis strained his ears, listening for a clue as to what the droid would do.

And then, over the distance, he heard a series of calibration clicks. "Tracking lock!" he shouted toward Yoda.

His lungs heaved with a fresh coughing fit, and he could only hope the other had caught his warning. By activating the tracking system, the droid was setting its missiles to follow their target no matter what. Yoda's only hope now was to find cover before the missiles got a clean lock onto him.

But he remained where he was, waiting. Lowering its launchers again, the droid fired.

Again, Yoda leaped upward as the missile approached. But this time something was different. Instead of simply arcing into the air, he twisted his body into a dizzying set of spins, twisting back and forth like a gymnast performing a complicated aerial routine.

The effect on the missile was startling. It seemed to tremble as it flew, its nose shaking back and forth as if thoroughly confused. It shot past Yoda, still shaking, and continued on to explode across the square.

Brolis grinned tightly. It was the same sort of evasive jinking maneuver he'd seen starfighter pilots perform in order to shake off a target-locked missile. He'd never guessed that any being, even a Jedi Master, could duplicate such a technique on his own.

Neither, apparently, had the droid. Another growl rumbled across the square; and then, suddenly, it was rolling forward, filling the air with a fresh stream of missiles as it charged.

Yoda was already in motion, leaping and spinning, hitting the ground and bounding off again at unexpected angles, making himself an impossible target for even a hailfire's weaponry to tag. Brolis found himself wincing as missile after missile slipped harmlessly past the Jedi Master, shaking the ground and lighting up the square with distant detonations. One of the missiles, which looked like it couldn't possibly miss, somehow bent aside from its path just far enough to collide with another of the salvo, detonating both midway between Yoda and the droid.

And as that premature explosion momentarily blocked the droid's view, Yoda abruptly switched from defense to attack. He hurled his lightsaber toward the machine, the weapon spinning into the obscuring cloud of smoke from the missiles' collision and shooting out the other side.

But the intended target was no longer there. Even as the missiles had collided, the droid had skidded to a halt and reversed direction to roll rapidly backward across the square. The lightsaber blade sliced through the space where it had been; and as the weapon hesitated in midair, the droid fired another missile straight at it. At the last second, the lightsaber dodged out of its way, streaking back to safety in Yoda's hand. The missile itself shot harmlessly past to add yet another crater to the distant landscape.

Master Yoda was keeping himself alive through the Force until Luke Skywalker’s Jedi Training was complete. Only then did he allow age and sickness to take him:

It seemed to Luke that the Jedi Master chose the moment of his passing. It was as if Yoda had completed the last of his great tasks for the galaxy and now he was allowing nature to take its course. It was entirely possible, Luke thought, that Yoda had kept himself alive for all these years through his own personal power, refusing to perish until he finished training the last Jedi.

Tutaminis

Tutaminis is the Force ability that allows a Force user to contain, absorb, and deflect harmful energy and radiation. Standard applications allow a Force user to deflect harmful radiation such as sunlight, while more advanced applications can deflect and absorb blaster bolts and even Force Lightning.

Yoda is capable of controlling Force Lightning:

"Yoda is an immensely powerful Jedi who can control blue crackling Force lightning."

—Star Wars: Mysterious of the Jedi

Master Yoda counters Darth Sidious’ second barrage of Force Lightning:

YODA unleashes a ferocious assault on PALPATINE, causing him to almost go over the edge. The Dark Lord drops his lightsaber but recovers with a BLAST OF ENERGY from his hands that surrounds YODA. YODA is deflecting the Sith Lord's lightning bolts.

The energy bolts begin to arc back on the Emperor. It looks as if the Dark Lord is doomed.

—Revenge of the Sith script

Yoda absorbs the incredibly potent Force Lightning of Darth Sidious, eventually forcing an explosive stalemate that sends them both flying off of a Senate Pod:

YODA leaps after him, but PALPATINE quickly turns and aims the full force of his energy bolts at the tiny green Jedi, catching him in mid-air and throwing him back hard against the Podium. The force causes YODA to drop his lightsaber. YODA blocks the lightning and throws PALPATINE backwards off the podium. YODA is knocked off the Podium and falls several hundred feet to the base of the Podium. PALPATINE follows in his pod, searching for YODA.

Force Sense

Force Sense governs a Force user's perceptive abilities. Through this power, Jedi are able to sense other individuals and Force users, the emotions of others, as well as centers of Force energy.

YODA : Eveything. Fear is the path to the dark side... fear leads to

ANAKIN : (angrily) I am not afraid!

YODA : A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. I

Master Yoda senses the feelings of shock in his fellow Jedi Council members:

As Obi-Wan’s message finished playing, Yoda frowned. He could sense the shock in the other members of the Jedi Council as Obi-Wan spoke of the treachery of the Trade Federation. —Attack of the Clones junior novel

Master Yoda senses Obi-Wan Kenobi’s thoughts:

Yoda was correct, Obi-Wan told himself. If the Jedi hadn't learned of the clone army, Dooku's Separatists would have suddenly appeared on the scene with tens of millions of battle droids, fleets of warships, and seceded from the Republic without contest. But there would have been no coexisting with the Confederacy. Ultimately it would have bled the Republic dry. War would have been inevitable, and the Jedi would have been caught in the middle, as they were now. But why hadn't Yoda told him sooner about Sifo-Dyas? Or was this yet another lesson, as the search for Kamino had been? Yoda's way of telling him to search for the thing that didn't seem to be there by analyzing its effects on the world around it. The difference between knowledge and wisdom, Obi-Wan's friend Dex might have said, as he did on identifying the source of the saberdart that had killed Zam Wessel, when the Temple analysis droids couldn't.

Yoda was regarding him when he lifted his head. "Reveal you, your thoughts do, Obi-Wan. Believe I should have told you sooner, you do."

—Labyrinth of Evil

Master Yoda senses a bomb that had been planted to kill him:

A senior member of the Council, Mace Windu, did not waste time on preliminaries. "We thank you for coming," he said in his dignified way. His eyebrows knit together worriedly. "To be frank, this event has shaken us. Master Yoda rose before dawn to meditate, as is his custom. He went to the Room of a Thousand Fountains, again as is his custom. Before reaching a footbridge he sensed a surge in the dark side of the Force. He hesitated, listening to the Force, and in that heartbeat a device planted underneath the footbridge exploded. The intention was to kill Yoda. Luckily he is not so easily fooled."

"And what does that mean?"

Yoda glanced over his shoulder. "Delayed they have been. Dead they are not. "

Master Yoda uses the Dark Side to probe the future:

"And only those who have turned to the Dark Side can sense the possibilities of the future. Only going through the Dark Side can we see."

—Attack of the Clones script

"Masking the future is this disturbance in the Force," Yoda replied. The diminutive Jedi seemed tired. Mace understood well the source of that weariness. "The prophecy is coming true. The dark side is growing."

"And only those who have turned to the dark side can sense the possibilities of the future," Yoda said. "Only by probing the dark side can we see."

Mace spent a moment digesting that remark, for what Yoda referred to was no small thing. Not at all. Journeys to the edges of the dark side were not to be taken lightly. Even more dire, the fact that Master Yoda believed that the disturbance all the Jedi had sensed in the Force was so entrenched in the dark side was truly foreboding.

—Attack of the Clones novel

MACE WINDU

Probing the Dark Side is a

dangerous process. He could be in

seclusion for days... May the

—Attack of the Clones script

"Has Master Yoda gained any insight as to whether or not this war will come about?" he asked, somewhat changing the subject, though he felt that it was all very connected. Finding the assassin, making peace with the separatists-all of these things would allow him to focus more closely on Anakin's training and would keep things at a more even keel around the troubled Padawan.

"Probing the dark side is a dangerous process," Mace stated. "I know not when he will choose to begin, but when he does , it is quite possible that he will remain in seclusion for days."

Master Yoda senses Anakin Skywalker’s slaughter of the Tusken Raiders who captured his mother and hears Qui-Gon Jinn’s disembodied voice:

Deep in his meditations, peering through the dark side, Master Yoda felt a sudden surge of anger, of outrage beyond control. The diminutive Master's eyes popped open wide at the overwhelming strength of that rage.

And then he heard a voice, a familiar voice, crying, "No, Anakin! No! Don't! No!"

It was Qui-Gon. Yoda knew that it was Qui-Gon. But Qui-Gon was dead, had become one with the Force! One could not retain consciousness and sense of self in that state; one could not speak from beyond the grave.

But Yoda had heard the ghostly call, and in his deep meditative state, his thoughts focused as precisely as they had ever been, the Jedi Master knew that he had not been mistaken.

He wanted to focus on that, then, perhaps to try to follow that call back to the ghostly source, but he could not, overwhelmed again by the surge of rage and pain and... power.

He made a noise and lurched forward, then came out of his trance as his door opened and Mace Windu rushed in. "What is it?" Mace asked.

"Pain. Suffering. Death! I fear something terrible has happened. Young Skywalker is in pain. Terrible pain."

He didn't tell Mace the rest of it, that somehow Anakin's rush of agony manifesting in the Force had tapped into the spirit of the dead Jedi Master who had discovered him. Too much was happening here.

That disembodied familiar voice hung profoundly in Yoda's thoughts. For if it was true, if he had heard what he was sure he had heard...

The battle rages all around OBI-WAN. DROIDS and CLONES are everywhere. OBI-WAN is riding on a LIZARD, cutting down DROIDS as he races across the battlefield. Suddenly a volley of laser blasts from behind him knocks him and his LIZARD off the wall of the sinkhole. He looks around just in time to see his CLONE TROOPS are firing on him.

OBI-WAN falls hundreds of feet to the bottom of the water-filled sinkhole.

133 EXT. MYGEETO-DAWN

The sky slowly awakens on the crystal world of Mygeeto. A battle rages. Clone troops battle the droid armies across a long bridge. KI-ADI-MUNDi uses his light saber to deflect enemy fire. CLONE COMMANDER BACARA (1138) exits a Gunship near the entrance to the city. He rallies his TROOPS to attack the city, then gets a message on his comlink. He stops and moves to one side as a HOLOGRAM OF DARTH SIDIOUS appears on the comlink in the palm of his hand. He moves further into the shadows.

DARTH SlDIOUS: Commander 1138 . . .

CLONE COMMANDER BACARA: Yes, sir.

DARTH SlDIOUS: The time has come. Execute Order Sixty-Six.

CLONE COMMANDER BACARA: It will be done, My Lord.

DARTH SIDIOUS fades, and the CLONE COMMANDER snaps the comlink closed and looks to the main plaza of the city, where KI-ADI-MUNDI is leading the charge. The clones stop. KI-ADI-MUNDI turns around and is blasted by clone fire. He's killed before he can defend himself.

134 EXT. FELUCIA-FOREST-DAY

A column of CLONE WALKERS marches across the forest floor. The STRANGE CALLS of the alien forest creatures of FELUCIA suddenly stop. The Jedi AAYLA SECURA and her CLONE TROOPS brace for an ambush.

AAYLA: Steady. . . . steady . . .

They all look around for signs of the enemy. CLONE COMMANDER BLY moves up behind the Jedi.

AAYLA: (continuing) Bly, do you think they're Droids?

BLY: No.

BLY blasts AAYLA in the back. The OTHER CLONES fire on her as she hits the ground.

BLY blasts AAYLA in the back. The OTHER CLONES fire on her as she hits the ground.

Another Jedi, BARRISS OFFEE, is cutting down a patrol of DROIDS when a CLONE WALKING TANK and SEVEN CLONE TROOPERS round a corner and blast the Jedi away.

135 EXT. KASHYYYK-MEETING HALL-DAY

YODA drops his gimer stick, clutches his chest, and rests against a wall.

—Revenge of the Sith script

YODA watches from the balcony. The battle rages as CLONES and WOOKIEES attack DROIDS coming across the water on CORPORATE ALLIANCE TANK DROIDS. CHEWBACCA and TARFFUL stand on either side of the Jedi Master as he watches the battle below. CLONE COMMANDER GREE and ONE OFFICER walk onto the balcony toward YODA. YODA stands looking over the battlefield below. When they are close enough, the CLONES reveal their weapons and fire.

But faster than the CLONES can reveal their weapons, YODA ignites his lightsaber, leaps in the air, and beheads both CLONES.

—Revenge of the Sith script

Centuries of practice had made it easy for Yoda to slip his mind nearly free from his body, to rest in the living Force. Lately, he had taken the opportunity to do so whenever it arose. For as the dark side grew stronger over the years, so had his belief that someone was trying to reach him through the increasing gloom.

Eyes closed, Yoda gave himself up to the Force. Yes, there it was — the sense of someone reaching for him. Almost, he succeeded. Something brushed close to Yoda … no, someone, someone who felt familiar. And then, suddenly, shock waves ripped through the Force. Jedi are dying.

Yoda’s eyes popped open. Two clone officers were coming up behind him. To consult me, they pretend they are coming. But Yoda could sense the faint aura of the dark side clinging to them. Something was very wrong, indeed.

So he was not surprised when the two clones reached for their weapons. His lightsaber hummed in his hands, and an instant later two white-helmeted heads fell one way, and two bodies the other.

Master Yoda can stretch his senses across the galaxy to enter the minds of other Jedi, allowing him to see what they see, as if they were remote sensors:

Yoda surrendered himself to the current of the Force. Sometimes, when the current was swift and steadfast, he could see through the eyes of his fellow Jedi, almost as if they were the Temple's remote sensors.

—Labyrinth of Evil

Master Yoda stretches his senses across Coruscant to witness the events of the battle across the planet and in the space above the planet. He even perceives Darth Sidious:

Yoda paced away from the console, deliberately turning his back to the glut of devices, screens, data displays, in a kind of countermeasure. Shutting his eyes to distance himself farther, he stretched out with his feelings, placing in his mind's eye Mace and Kit Fisto skimming through the deranged sky; Shaak Ti and Stass Allie hurrying toward Palpatine's quarters in 500 Republica; Saesee Tiin, Agen Kolar, Bultar Swan, and other Jedi Masters and Jedi Knights streaking from Coruscant's envelope in their starfighters, local space flashing with energy bolts and globular explosions, ships too numerous to count embroiled in a monumental battle... Grievous was loosing his war machines against both military and civilian targets, firing at anything and everything that wandered into his sights, commanding his droid fighters to dash themselves against Coruscant's defensive umbrellas or race down through traffic lanes, initiating chain reactions of collisions. And yet, for all the diversion, disruption, and terror those stratagems incited, they had little to do with the real battle. As was true of the war itself, the real battle was being fought in the Force.

Yoda stretched out farther, immersing himself fully in the Force - - only to feel his breath catch in his throat. Frigid, the current became. Arctic. And for the first time he could feel Sidious. Feel him on Coruscant!

Alter Environment

Alter Environment is the Jedi’s ability to manipulate the natural surroundings, such as water, air, etc. and use it to their advantage by freezing water or air, or manipulating cloud coverings.

Master Yoda creates a pocket of air to hold back the vacuum of space:

The howling wind nearly jerked Chuff out of the lift tube to follow them, but Master Yoda's hand held him back. A pocket of air remained in the lift, held there by Yoda's will. Out in the long dark of space, the assassin droids spun, tumbling slowly as they drifted farther and farther away, until their erratic blasterfire was only the twinkling of distant lights.

Battle Meditation

Battle Meditation is the Jedi Art of using the Force to infuse allies with confidence and morale, while also diminishing the morale of enemies. Potent applications can even increase the combat skills of allies to turn the tide of any battle.

Master Yoda is skilled in Battle Meditation:

Talents: Force-sensitivity; master of all lightsaber styles; battle meditation; diplomacy; leadership; knowledge of Jedi traditions.

—Star Wars: The Clone Wars Character Encyclopedia

Master Yoda potentially uses Battle Meditation to infuse Palleus Chuff with courage:

Yoda held Chuffs hands, clasping them around the lightsaber.

"Live your part, you can. Be a Jedi hero, you must!"

And somehow, strength and courage and confidence seemed to flow from the old one's hands, and Chuff felt more alive than he had ever been. As if courage were a fire, and he was standing too close to Yoda not to burn. He felt his own eyes gleam and his own mouth curve up into Yoda's Merry Havoc smile.

Jedi Mind Trick

The Jedi Mind Trick is an ability that allows a Jedi or Sith to influence the weak-minded or mighty to manipulate them, coerce them, or otherwise affect their minds to make them serve the user's ends.

Yoda uses the Jedi Mind Trick to manipulate Captain Typho:

Master Yoda has entered Obi-Wan Kenobi’s mind before:

Dooku’s slow pace spoke of an underlying arrogance and was in sharp contrast to the briskness of his invasion into Obi-Wan’s mind. Obi-Wan bit back a gasp and fled, trying to set new mental barriers in his wake. He’d had other Force users in his mind before. Qui-Gon. Anakin. Even Master Yoda. But where their touches had been gentle, almost a caress, Dooku’s was painful and humiliating.

Telekinesis

The most basic and well-known of Force abilities. Telekinesis is an umbrella term encompassing the ability to manipulate objects and people. Abilities that manifest under this term include Force Push, Force Pull, Force Choke, Force Wave, Force Repulse, and Force Crush.

Master Yoda uses Force Pull to disarm an assailant:

When Tejere attempted to fire a third time, his weapon flew from his hand, toward the Jedi. Master Yoda caught the weapon, and Master Windu strode toward the now unarmed assailant.

—HoloNet News: Would-be Saboteur Captured

Master Yoda uses the Force to pull himself and Palleus Chuff up against the underside of a starfighter:

"True!" Yoda grunted, and with another sudden twitch of the Force, the two of them were stuck to the ship's underside as a line of plasma fire swept the deck where they had just been standing. An instant later they dropped back to the floor, now hot underfoot.

—Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

Master Yoda lifts R2-D2 with telekinesis:

Once, while Yoda stood watching nearby, Luke used the Force to lift two large equipment cases and suspend them in midair. Yoda was pleased, but noticed Artoo Detoo observing this apparent impossibility and emitting electronic beeps of disbelief. The Jedi Master raised his hand and, with the Force, lifted the little droid off the ground.

Artoo hovered, his baffled internal circuits and sensors trying to detect the unseen power that held him suspended in the air. And suddenly the invisible hand played still another joke on him: While hanging in midair, the little robot was abruptly turned upside down. His white legs kicked desperately and his dome head spun helplessly around. When Yoda finally lowered his hand, the droid, along with two supply cases, began to drop. But only the boxes smashed against the ground. Artoo remained suspended in space.

Turning his head, Artoo perceived his young master, standing with hand extended, preventing Artoo from a fatal tumble.

Yoda shook his head, impressed by his student's quick thinking and by his control.

Yoda sprang onto Luke's arm and the two of them turned back toward the house. But they had forgotten something: Artoo Detoo was still hanging in the air, beeping and whistling frantically, trying to get their attention. Yoda was merely playing another joke on the fretful droid, and as Yoda and Luke strolled away, Artoo heard the Jedi Master's bell-like laugh float in gay peals behind him as the droid slowly lowered to the ground.

—The Empire Strikes Back

Master Yoda is said to have lifted a boulder the size of a family-sized electric cart with merely a gesture:

"Part of becoming a Jedi Knight is learning how to become better connected to the Force. Jedi Masters are the best at it-coupled with their wisdom and experience, they are able to do things that Padawans, let alone those with no knowledge of the Force, find miraculous. It augments our strength, oxygenates our tissues, decreases reaction lag. Once, in Coruscant Park, I saw Master Yoda lift a rock as big as a family-sized electric cart, with what looked like nothing but a simple hand gesture. The results can be great and wonderful."

—Medstar II: Jedi Healer

Master Yoda lifts heavy durasteel containers:

Obi-Wan saw the heavy durasteel containers suddenly move, floating up in the air, propelled by Yoda's use of the Force. The blast of discharged explosives filled the air, smoke rose, and the remaining cache of weapons fused from the intense heat.

Before the DROIDS can get off a shot, YODA raises his hand, and the DROIDS are flung against the far walls and crash to the floor in heaps of smoking metal.

Yoda nonchalantly uses telekinesis to incapacitate a pair of Darth Sidious’ Royal Guardsmen:

Master Yoda destroys several assassin droids using only the Force:

Then the chattering sound of a railgun bit into the dim docking bay, gouging a line of sparks out of the floor, and Yoda was gone. An instant later one of the assassin droids was picked up as if by an invisible hand and hurled into a comrade. Tracers of railgun fire converged on a shadowy figure flitting away from Chuff. How much time left, the actor wondered. Three minutes? Two? He drew a deep breath. Quietly he crept toward the Call's last magnetic anchor. The docking bay was filled with a grinding, scraping noise as a single-pilot stunt craft some distance away began to drag across the floor. Yoda was drawing the droids away. Chuff limped over to the last leg of the ship. After days trussed up in Ventress's hold, his whole body felt stiff, sore, and awkward. The skin in the middle of his back was crawling, expecting the burst of blasterfire that would cut him down. He forced himself to ignore it, determined not to let Yoda down.

Muzzle flashes lit the far end of the bay like continuous lightning, and a sonic grenade went off, adding its bass growl to the whine and chatter of the railguns. Without so much as a lightsaber, Master Yoda was giving the assassin droids all they could handle. When Chuff got to the last stanchion, he had a sudden moment of panic, sure he wouldn't know how to turn the lightsaber back on. He tabbed what would have been the power button on the prop he had used for 1,437 performances of Jedi! To his delight the weapon hissed immediately to life.

"By the stars," he murmured, feeling his best Knowing Yoda Smile creep onto his face, "the Force is with me."

Quickly he slashed through the support, turned off the lightsaber so it wouldn't give away his position, and threw himself backward as a sudden stuttering flare of tracer fire whined overhead. The Call settled on the deck with a resounding crash, free of her magnetic constraints.

By the time Chuff made it to the turbolift, the countdown chrono running in his head said Last Call's engines were going to roar to life any second now. He had a sudden image of what that would mean: rippling bands of magnetic energy and fusion bursts pulsing through the hold, the ship smashing blindly into walls. Energy building for the blind jump to hyperspace, and Force help anyone caught in a confined space with that.

Chuff swallowed. Playing the hero with Yoda's own lightsaber in his hands he had felt shaky courage everywhere, but now the courage was draining fast and only the shaking remained. He curled up in a corner and turned his face to the wall so he wouldn't see the first gleam as the Call's engines flickered to life.

A hand touched him on the shoulder. He gasped, spun, and saw Yoda's merry eyes looking at him. Yoda grabbed Chuff and dived for the lift as a line of flechettes chopped into the wall where they'd been standing.

Master Yoda was able to lift all six of the Jedi Muntuur Stones before the age of seven hundred, after which he could only lift five of them in meditation:

For control, visit the Temple’s Kuddaka chamber, where the Muntuur Stones are kept. Each stone weighs several tons, so merely jostling one can be marked as a success. Master Fae, it should be noted, can levitate all six after entering a state of deep meditation.

Master Yoda suspends thrown food, drinks, and utensils in the air and the gently settles them back down as if they hadn’t been disturbed:

"Maybe it has a lot to say." Whie stared at the starscape hovering over the projector table. "It's so easy for you. What do you care? You are unattached, aren't you? You'll probably never die. What was Maks Leem to you? Another pupil. After all these centuries, who could blame you if you could hardly keep track of them? Well, she was more than that to me." He looked up challengingly. Tear tracks were shining on his face, but his eyes were still hard and angry. "She was the closest thing I had to a mother, since you took me away from my real mother. She chose me to be her Padawan and I let her down, I let her die, and I'm not going to sit here and stuff myself and get over it!" He finished with a yell, sweeping the plate of crepes off the projection table, so the platter went sailing toward the floor.

Yoda's eyes, heavy-lidded and half closed like a drowsing dragon's, gleamed, and one finger twitched. Food, platter, drinks, and all hung suspended in the air. The platter settled; the crepes returned to it; Whie's overturned cup righted itself, and rich purple liquid trickled back into it. All settled back onto the table. Another twitch of Yoda's fingers, the merest flicker, and Whie's head jerked around as if on a string, until he found himself looking into the old Jedi's eyes. They were green, green as swamp water. He had never quite realized before how terrifying those eyes could be. One could drown in them. One could be pulled under.

—Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

Master Yoda uses the Force to push a missile so that it misses its target by one kilometer:

With a snort, Yoda turned his eyes to the sky and picked out the glowing dot racing in from the horizon. Below him, Dooku landed softly on the ground and melted into the rose gardens. The missile was coming in with terrible speed and power: too much coming at Yoda too fast ever to wholly stop it, even if he had time and perfect peace. But he reached out to pull up the Force binding even Vjun's bitter green moss and twisted thorn-trees, and let it flow through him like a wind: the breath of a world, gathered and released in a push-feather game with all their lives on the line, not to oppose the missile's force with force, but to touch it gently on the side-just enough to send it screaming by the broken window casement to plunge a kilometer offshore into the cold and waiting sea. A long instant later, water fountained from the ocean in a blaze of light three hundred meters tall, and then fell back. The chateau and all those inside it had been spared: but Dooku was gone.

—Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

Master Yoda holds up a starfighter with telekinesis:

"Why are you doing that?" Chuff asked, peering forward so his head was right under the corner of the ship now without support. Yoda squeaked and puffed out his round cheeks with the sudden effort of using the Force to keep the Call from crushing Chuff into a grease spot on the docking bay floor.

—Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

Master Yoda lifts Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing out of the Dagobah Swamp with ease:

When Luke’s X-wing starfighter sank into a bog, Yoda decided it was a perfect opportunity to test Luke’s relationship with the Force. He told his student to use the Force to life the stricken ship. When Luke failed and gave up, disheartened, Yoda realized a demonstration was needed. He closed his eyes and used his formidable powers to levitate Luke’s sunken ship.

—Star Wars Fact Files

Quietly Yoda turns toward the X-wing fighter. With his eyes closed and

his head bowed, he raises his arm and points at the ship.

Soon, the fighter rises above the water and moves forward as Artoo

beeps in terror and scoots away.

The entire X-wing moves majestically, surely, toward the shore. Yoda

stands on a tree root and guides the fighter carefully down toward the

beach.

—Empire Strikes Back script

Luke gasped in astonishment as the X-wing gracefully rose from its watery tomb and moved majestically toward the shore.

He silently vowed never to use the word 'impossible' again. For there, standing on his tree root pedestal, was tiny Yoda, effortlessly gliding the ship from the water onto the shore. It was a sight that Luke could scarcely believe. But he knew that it was a potent example of Jedi mastery over the Force.

Artoo, equally astounded but not so philosophical, issued a series of loud whistles, then bolted off to hide behind some giant roots.

The X-wing seemed to float onto the beach, and then gently came to a stop.

—The Empire Strikes Back novel

Yoda sighed. Slowly, he bowed his head and closed his eyes. Then he raised his small right hand in the direction of the sunken X-wing.

The starfighter began to rise again.

R2-D2 watched the displaced water flow off the starfighter as it lifted from the swamp. Long strands of moss and weeds dangled from the ship as it rose higher. The little droid began beeping wildly.

Luke heard R2-D2’s cries and turned back. The X-wing was hovering high over the water’s surface.

He looked to Yoda, then back to the X-wing. The ship slowly traveled through the air, then descended to land on an area of moss-covered ground.

Mace Windu believes that Yoda is capable of lifting a steamcrawler with the Force, something Mace did not believe that he himself was capable of:

Mace opened himself to the Force. He could hear Yoda's voice: Size matters not-which, Mace had always privately considered, was more true for Yoda than it was for any of his students. Yoda would probably just reach out, lift the steamcrawler from the gully, and casually float it up the mountain to the outpost while croaking some enigmatic maxim about how Even a volcano is as nothing, compared to the power of the Force... Mace was much less confident in his own raw power.

Master Yoda throws back Plo Koon, Saesee Tiin, and Depa Billaba with telekinesis. While the feat is commonly believed to be a feat of speed, it is made apparent later in the source that the lesson was based in telekinesis:

Yoda had faced the assembled students and spoken, his thin reedy voice somehow carrying to the far corners of the lecture hall without benefit of amplifiers.

"Better than training, the Force is. More than experience or speed it gives."

And he had given a demonstration. Three members of the council-Plo Koon, Saesee Tiin, and Depa Billaba, excellent fighters all-had come forward and attacked him. Master Yoda had not been armed, and had not seemed to move more than a meter or so, his tread slow and measured. Nevertheless, none of the three had been able to lay a finger on him. The lesson had struck powerfully home: Knowledge of the Force was infinitely better than technique.

Telepathy

Telepathy is the ability to read or communicate with another's mind from across great distances.

Master Yoda appears to read Dooku’s thoughts:

Dooku saw that he had been tricked. He had no doubt now that he and Lorian had been made team captains deliberately. The Jedi Council had wanted to pit them against each other to see how deep the tensions ran.

"Tricked you were not," Yoda said, as if he'd read Dooku's thoughts. "Given an opportunity you were. Not alone are you, Dooku. To ask for help is no shame."

—Legacy of the Jedi

Master Yoda receives Obi-Wan’s thoughts from a great distance:

The voice came through so faintly that at first Yoda, sunk deep in meditation, thought he'd imagined it. Thought he was dreaming, or committing the grave error of aimless hoping. He'd been waiting so long, with no answers, and had begun to fear the worst.

Then he heard it again, stronger. Vivid with pain...and stained with darkness. Obi-Wan's voice...his thoughts...unmistakable. Yet somehow the dark side was threaded through his Force presence. Yoda rarely admitted to alarm...but the bitter taste of Sith in their communication was a legitimate cause for apprehension. The echo of another, virulent voice...die Jedi, die Jedi.

Pushing the malevolence to one side, he descended more deeply than until this moment he'd ever dared to go, opening himself until he was virtually defenseless. Obi-Wan's thoughts poured into him, a desperate babble, as though he was terrified he could not maintain the connection. The intricacy of the details he imparted was as worrying as his fear, and that taste of the dark side; telepathy was hardly ever so precise. Feelings, impressions, yes. But pinpoint-accurate galactic coordinates? Precisely ordered requests? No. This communication was unwholesome. To the light side, abomination.

Then as suddenly as he'd made contact, Obi-Wan vanished. Not in death, but as though a holotransceiver circuit had fused.

Willpower

Willpower governs a Jedi's ability to perceive illusions, resist illusions, as well as dispell them.

Master Yoda defeats his dark side and conquers his hubris in a trial by the Force Priestesses:

Master Yoda sees through the illusion of Darth Bane:

Jedi Master Yoda encountered a giant specter of Bane while visiting Moraband, the ancient Sith homeworld. Once the Jedi dismissed the spirit to be nothing more than an illusion, it dissipated.

—Star Wars.com Encyclopedia

Master Yoda sees through an illusion of a tranquil Jedi Temple:

Master Yoda defeats Darth Sidious in a vision, overcoming the Sith Sorcery that Darth Sidious and Count Dooku implemented in an attempt to break him:

Force Ghost

The rare ability to transcend the physical plane and become a Force Spirit is an example of a Jedi's ability to retain their identity after death. Through this means, the Jedi can appear to others to offer counsel and wisdom to those who need it.

Master Yoda transcended the physical realm and became a Force Spirit, appearing to Luke Skywalker after the deaths of Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine, and continued to appear for some time to offer advice to Luke until the Jedi no longer needed him:

The Jedi Master was not gone forever. Yoda reappeared to Luke Skywalker in spirit form alongside the spirits of Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi following the Battle of Endor, and in the years following Yoda’s death he appeared again on a handful of occasions to offer the young Jedi help and advice as he sought out others for training. As Skywalker’s knowledge of the Force grew, Yoda’s influence diminished until he was no longer needed.

Combat Abilities

Master Yoda is a brilliant lightsaber duelist:

Yoda was not that one. Aged, experienced, diplomatic, informative, brilliant with a lightsaber... Yes, all of these things. And not unacquainted with the power of the dark side.

—Labyrinth of Evil

Master Yoda’s unparalleled ability to draw on the Force grants him exceptional speed and agility and made his lightsaber abilities awesomely potent:

Despite his diminutive size and frailty, Yoda’s incomparable ability to summon the power of the Force enabled him to greatly enhance his agility and speed. As a result, his lightsabre skills were awesomely potent. Yoda had mastered the exceptional art of Form IV lightsabre combat, and was widely acknowledged as the greatest lightsaber duellist in the Jedi Order. His lightsabre skills were legendary among the Jedi, not least because, until the Battle of Geonosis, few had ever seen Yoda in combat.

—Star Wars Fact Files

Master Yoda was a master of Form IV Ataru and was regarded as the greatest lightsaber duelist in the Order, possessed of legendary skill with the blade:

In recognition of Yoda’s mastery of Form IV, the Jedi Archives hold a collection of databooks to showcase his mastery and prowess for Jedi to study:

“Yes, it is true that Yoda is a Form IV master. Although it has been some time since Yoda has graced us with a demonstration, the Jedi Archives holds a collection of databooks that are testament to his mastery and prowess.”

Master Yoda is a master of all seven lightsaber styles:

Talents: Force-sensitivity; master of all lightsaber styles; battle meditation; diplomacy; leadership; knowledge of Jedi traditions.

Master Yoda’s strength in the Force and fighting tactics allow him to overcome virtually any opponent:

Yoda’s capabilities with the Force give him amazing strength and speed, as well as the ability to levitate. These special powers, combined with his knowledge of fighting tactics, allow him to overcome virtually any opponent, though times are few indeed that Yoda has actually used his lightsaber in combat.

—Attack of the Clones Visual Dictionary

Master Yoda is counted among the greatest Jedi Warriors:

Even the greatest warriors of the Jedi - Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, even Yoda - could not defeat the Sith.

—The Last of the Jedi: Underworld

Count Dooku believes the Jedi Killer General Grievous to be inferior to Master Yoda in lightsaber combat:

"Do I need to demonstrate what responses you can expect from Cin Drallig or Obi-Wan Kenobi? From Mace Windu or, stars help you, Yoda?"

—Count Dooku to General Grievous (Labyrinth of Evil)

Master Yoda’s lightsaber skills are second to none on the Jedi Council, surpassing even the Legendary Jedi Master Mace Windu’s skills:

Though it was true that he had slowed slightly in the years that Windu had known him, Yoda's skill with a lightsaber was still second to none on the council.

—Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter

Master Yoda's lightsaber skills are considered to be unparalleled:

With a stooped, small appearance, Yoda may not look like a great warrior, but his skills with a lightsaber were unequaled.

—Lightsabers: A Guide to Weapons of the Force

Master Yoda is reputed to be the greatest lightsaber master ever:

She smiled. "Watching you, one would almost think you could give Master Yoda a good contest."

That made him blink. "Master Yoda? You must be joking."

Her smile vanished. "Why would I joke about such a thing?

Master Yoda is reputed to be the greatest lightsaber master ever. Don't tell me you never had a fighting class with him?"

—The Approaching Storm

Darth Sidious believes that Master Yoda would have injured Darth Vader on Mustafar far worse than what Obi-Wan Kenobi had done to him:

"I wasn't strong enough to defeat Obi-Wan," Vader said. Sidious had had enough.

"No, you weren't," he said. "So just imagine what Yoda might have done to you." He flung his words with brutal honesty. "Obi-Wan triumphed because he went to Mustafar with a single intention in mind: to kill Darth Vader. If the jedi order had showed such resolute intention, if it had remained focused on what needed to be done rather than on fears of the dark side, it might have proved more difficult to topple and eradicate. You and I might have lost everything. Do you understand?"

—Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader

Master Yoda has bested Mace Windu in sparring matches:

Master Windu was also known within the Order for his unusual fighting style, one that he developed after studying the dueling styles of various lightsaber masters. His attacks consisted of relentless, unpredictable blows, like shots from an autoblaster. Master Windu himself remained perfectly balanced and centered. In the history of the Jedi Order, only two opponents ever overcame him in battle. One was Master Yoda, who some said was the Order's true master of lightsaber combat. The other was former Master Dooku, whose own fighting style was archaic, yet stunningly effective.

—Power of the Jedi Sourcebook

Master Yoda’s lightsaber skills made him a match for anyone in combat:

Although it was extremely rare for Yoda to use a lightsabre in combat, when there was no alternative, he was a match for anyone.

—Star Wars Fact Files

Master Yoda cuts down ten battle droids:

Yoda had moved forward with Obi-Wan and Anakin, but his style was less dramatic than Obi-Wan's sweeps and Anakin's whirling lightsaber. His arm barely seemed to move; his attacks seemed more flicks than stabs. Yet ten attack droids were on the floor in a heap of twisted metal.

—Jedi Quest: The Shadow Trap

Master Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi cut down several Clone Troopers at the Jedi Temple:

A DOZEN CLONE TROOPERS stand guard at the entrance of the Jedi Temple. Suddenly there is a flash of a lightsaber, a flurry of confusion, and all of the Clone Troopers are dead on the floor. YODA and OBI-WAN stand in the middle of the carnage.

Master Yoda kills eight soldiers in six seconds:

A burning blade of green slanted across the sergeants face so close he could smell the ozone, and the hunchback wasn't a hunchback anymore: he now held a lightsaber the color of a summmer sky, and he said in a clipped, educated Coruscanti accent, "Please don't try to resist. No one has to get hurt."

The men of Decoy Squad Five disagreed.

Six seconds later, all eight of them were dead.

Master Yoda defeated a Bpfasshi Dark Jedi leader in an epic Force Clash. The Dark Jedi was so powerful that his death created a dark side nexus potent enough to conceal Yoda’s light side presence from the senses of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader:

Another tale of Yoda's past involves stopping a swath of destruction cut by Dark Jedi from Bpfassh. One of these dark siders had gotten as far as Dagobah, were Yoda bested him in direct confrontation. The Bpfasshi Jedi died, his dark Force absorbing into and twisting a nearby tree -- forming a dark side nexus. It is believed that Yoda chose Dagobah as his hiding place due to the dark side energies emanating from the tree. From a distance, Force-users like the Emperor would not detect Yoda since the master's bright light side presence would be canceled by the Bpfasshi dark side presence.

—Star Wars Databank

Years ago, during the Bpfasshi Dark Jedi insurrection, one of the fallen had escaped to Dagobah by commandeering a vessel piloted by smuggler Jorj Car'das. The Jedi Master Yoda tracked down the fugitive Jedi, and the two battled on the swamp planet. Yoda was victorious, and the dead Dark Jedi's hateful energies were absorbed into his surroundings.

A nearby tree which grew over a cave became a nexus, a concentration of the dark side. This domain of evil became a deciding factor in Yoda's choice of Dagobah as his refuge during the Empire's ascent. The dark energy of the tree, when viewed from a distance, cancelled out the light energy of Yoda, thus keeping him hidden for decades.

–Star Wars Databank

Fully in the grip of the Dark Side and quite mad, Bpfasshi Dark Jedi set themselves against Freedom's Sons and slaughtered everyone who get in their way. Soon opposed in battle by loyal Coruscant Jedi. The Bpfasshi fell one by one, until their leader ultimately perished in an epic Force Clash with Master Yoda.

Yoda defeats a battalion of Separatist battle droids single-handedly, convincing King Katuunko that a single Jedi is worth a thousand battle droids:

A neutral moon not far from Toydaria, Rugosa was the intended rendezvous point for Jedi Master Yoda and King Katuunko of the Toydarians during the Clone Wars. There, they were to negotiate a treaty that would transform Toydaria into a key Republic outpost in Hutt Space. Unfortunately, Separatist spies intercepted word of the meeting, and Confederacy warships ambushed Yoda's vessel en route to Rugosa. Yoda survived the attack, reaching Rugosa's surface via escape pod along with a trio of clone troopers. There, he had to face an entire battle droid battalion as he cut his way through to King Katuunko to cement the alliance with the Toydarians.

Yoda goes to Rugosa to negotiate a deal with King Katuunko of Toydaria that will allow the Republic to build a supply base in the system. —Star Wars Trading Card Game

The count left Obi-Wan beaten and Anakin without his right arm, and may have killed them both if not for Yoda, who arrived and launched a whirlwind attack. Dooku barely escaped with his life.

—Star Wars: The New Essential Chronology

The doors slid open reluctantly, and Yoda walked inside. Yes, needed here, I am, he thought as he saw Count Dooku standing over the fallen figures of Obi-Wan and Anakin. He stopped just inside the hangar, waiting.

Count Dooku saw him and stepped away from Anakin and Obi-Wan. Yoda bent his head in acknowledgment and regret. “Count Dooku.”

“Master Yoda.” The Count’s tone was almost scornful, but Yoda sensed an eagerness in him — eagerness, and something darker. Dooku face hardened as he went on, “You’ve interfered with our plans for the last time.”

Plans of conquest, Yoda thought sadly. But a Jedi seeks not power. Truly, Dooku had left the path of the Jedi Order. He felt Dooku gathering power, and he bowed his head in shock and sorrow as he sensed the true source of the Count’s increased ability. An instant later, Dooku raised his hands and sent a stream of deadly Force lightning toward him.

Yoda blocked the lightning automatically, grieved by this final evidence of Dooku’s change in allegiance. Only those who turned to the dark side of the Force misused their abilities so. This he had feared ever since Count Dooku left the Jedi Order, but only now was he certain. His old student had not just left the path of the Jedi; he had betrayed everything he had once stood for. He had joined the dark side. “Much to learn you still have,” Yoda told him.

A startled expression crossed Dooku’s face at the utter failure of his attack. Then his eyes narrowed. He lowered his hands and replied, “It is obvious that this contest will not be decided by our knowledge of the Force, but by our skills with the lightsaber.” As he spoke, he reignited his weapon and whirled it in the formal salute that Yoda remembered teaching him some fifty years before.

Yoda drew his lightsaber and answered the salute. In contests, he had no interest, but in stopping Count Dooku, he had a great deal of interest indeed. And Dooku had left him no other choice.

Count Dooku charged forward. Yoda sighed. Nothing has he learned. Nothing has he remembered. He closed his eyes, bowed his head, and felt the Force that bound all things, even himself and the Count. His lightsaber moved effortlessly, flowing with the Force to find the balance point between them and block Dooku’s every stroke. He did not even have to step back.

The Count’s attack grew more desperate, to no avail. Breathing hard, he backed away, but Yoda did not pursue him. To stop Dooku was all that was necessary, and he could not pass Yoda to reach his Solar Sailer.

The Count slowed once more, then stopped, his blade braced against Yoda’s. Yoda could feel him drawing on the dark side in an attempt to press Yoda’s weapon back, but the dark side was only an easier path, not a stronger one. Backed by the full power of the true Force, Yoda’s lightsaber was unmovable.

“Fought well, you have, my old Padawan,” Yoda said gently, giving him the truth, though he knew that the Count would not want to hear it. Count Dooku had never been happy to merely fight well; the best he must be, always. But not this time.

“This is just the beginning,” the Count snarled.

Yoda felt a great surge in the Force as Count Dooku pulled one of the service cranes off balance. The mass of metal and wire plummeted directly toward Obi-Wan and Anakin. Yoda could feel the two exhausted, injured Jedi reaching for the Force to keep the crane from falling, but they did not have enough strength left. The falling crane slowed but did not stop; it would surely crush them when it landed.

No decision was necessary. Too many Jedi have we lost today. Yoda bent his mind toward the crane, concentrating. The crane stopped abruptly in midair as if it had landed on some invisible table. Slowly, Yoda moved the crane away from Obi-Wan and Anakin, to an empty part of the hangar where it could settle safely to the ground.

Behind him, he sensed the engines of the Solar Sailer start, then felt them fade into the distance. The Count had escaped. But Anakin and Obi-Wan were still alive.

For now, that was enough.

—Attack of the Clones junior novel

Even as he spoke, though, the great hangar doors of the tower slid open, smoke from the battle outside pouring in. And through that smoke came a diminutive figure, but one seeming taller than all of them at that moment.

"Master Yoda," Dooku breathed.

"Count Dooku," said Yoda.

Dooku's eyes widened and he stepped back, turning to face Yoda directly. He brought his lightsaber up to his face, shut down the blade, then snapped it to the side in formal salute. "You have interfered with our plans for the last time."

A wave of Dooku's free hand sent a piece of machinery flying at the diminutive Jedi Master, seeming as if it would surely crush him.

But Yoda was ready, waving his own hand, Force-pushing the flying machinery harmlessly aside.

Dooku clutched up at the ceiling, breaking free great blocks that tumbled down at Yoda.

But small hands waved and the boulders dropped to the sides, bouncing across the floor all about the untouched Master Yoda.

Dooku gave a little growl and thrust forth his hand, loosing a line of blue lightning at the diminutive Master.

Yoda caught it in his own hand and turned it aside, but far from easily.

"Powerful you have become, Dooku," Yoda admitted, and the Count grinned-but Yoda promptly took that grin away by adding, "The dark side I sense in you."

"I have become more powerful than any Jedi," Dooku countered. "Even you, my old Master!"

More lightning poured forth from Dooku's hand, but Yoda continued to catch it and turn it, and seemed to become even more settled in his defensive posture.

"Much to learn you still have," Yoda remarked.

Dooku disengaged the futile lightning assault. "It is obvious this contest will not be decided by our knowledge of the Force, but by our skills with a lightsaber."

Yoda reverently drew out his lightsaber, its green blade humming to life.

Dooku gave a crisp salute, igniting his own red blade, but then, formalities over, he leapt at Yoda, a sudden and devastating thrust.

But one that never got close to hitting. With hardly a movement, Yoda turned the blade aside.

Dooku went into a wild flurry then, the likes of which he had not shown against Obi-Wan or Anakin, raining blows at the diminutive Master. But Yoda didn't even seem to move. He didn't step back or to the side, yet his subtle dodges and precision parries kept Dooku's blade slashing and stabbing harmlessly wide.

It went on and on for many moments, but eventually Dooku's flurry began to slow, and the Count, recognizing the Futility of this attempt to overwhelm, stepped back fast.

Not fast enough.

With a sudden burst of sheer power, Master Yoda flew forward, his blade working so mightily that its residual glow outshone even those of both of Anakin's lightsabers when he was at the peak of his dance. Dooku held strong, though, his red blade parrying brilliantly, each block backed by the power of the Force, or else Yoda's strikes would have driven right through.

Just as he was about to launch a counter, though, Yoda was gone, leaping high and turning a somersault to land right behind Dooku, in perfect balance, striking hard.

Dooku reversed his grip and stabbed out behind him, intercepting the blow. He let go of his weapon altogether, tossing it just a bit, and spun about, catching it before it had even disengaged from Yoda's blade.

With a growl of rage, Dooku reached more deeply into the Force, letting it flow through him as if his physical form was a mere conduit for its power. His tempo increased suddenly and dramatically, three steps forward, two back, perfectly balanced all the while. His fighting style was one based on balance, on the back-and-forth charges, thrusts and sudden retreats, and now he came at Yoda with a series of cunning stabs, angled left and right.

Never could he strike low, though, for never did Yoda seem to be on the ground, leaping and spinning, flying all about, parrying each blow and offering cunning counters that had Dooku skipping backward desperately.

Dooku stabbed up high, turning the angle of his lightsaber in anticipation that Yoda would dodge left. But Yoda, as if in complete anticipation of the movement, veered neither left nor right, but rather, dropped to the ground. The Count had already retracted the missed thrust, and began a second stab, this time down low, but Yoda had anticipated that, too, and went right back up behind the stabbing blade.

A sudden stab by Yoda had Dooku quick-stepping back even more off-balance, for the first time, and then Yoda flew away, up and back.

The furious Dooku pursued, thrusting hard for Yoda's head. And in his rage when his stab missed yet again, he reverted to a slashing attack.

Yoda's green blade caught the blow, holding the red lightsaber at bay, locking the two in a contest of strength, physical and of the Force.

"Fought well, you have, my old Padawan," Yoda congratulated, and his lightsaber began to move out, just a bit, forcing Dooku back.

"The battle is far from over!" Dooku stubbornly argued. "This is just the beginning!" Reaching into the Force, he took hold of one of the huge cranes within the hangar and threw it down at Obi-Wan and Anakin.

"Anakin!" Obi-Wan cried. He grabbed at the plummeting crane with the Force, and Anakin, startled awake, did so, as well. Even working together, they hadn't the strength left to stop its crushing descent.

But Yoda did.

Yoda grabbed the crane and held it fast, but in doing so, he had to release Dooku. The Count wasted no time, sprinting away, leaping up the ramp to his sail ship. As Yoda began to move the fallen crane harmlessly aside, the sail ship's engine roared to life, and all three Jedi watched helplessly as Count Dooku blasted away.

As Anakin and Obi-Wan walked over to the exhausted Yoda, Padme rushed in, running to Anakin and wrapping the sorely wounded young man in a tight, desperate hug.

"A dark day, it is," Yoda said quietly.

Master Yoda engages and defeats Count Dooku on the dark side nexus of Vjun, forcing him to flee:

With a bound, Yoda was at the casement. Whirry was windmilling down through the black air, screaming and tumbling toward the flagstones. Narrowing his eyes, Yoda reached out through the Force and caught her not three meters from the ground. Instantly he was in the air himself, spinning away from Dooku's vicious attack before he was even consciously aware it was coming. The blinding scarlet blur of Dooku's lightsaber split the air, slashing a burning line along Yoda's side before chopping his desk in half. Yoda whipped out his blade while trying to set Whirry gently down on the cobblestones below.

"Wish to hurt you, I do not!"

"That's odd," Dooku remarked. "I intend to enjoy killing you."

As Yoda released Whirry from his mind's hold, and let her spill gently onto the flagstones far below, the tip of Dooku's lightsaber scored a burning line across his shoulder. The Count's blade was quick as a viper striking. Among the other Jedi, perhaps only Mace Windu would have been his equal on neutral ground: but here on Vjun, steeped in the dark side, his bladework was malice made visible-wickedness cut in red light.

"I've hurt you!" Dooku cried.

"Many times," Yoda said. He considered his pain: let it drop. Now he had nothing but Dooku to focus on, and his lightsaber gleamed with the same fierce green light that flickered from under his heavy-lidded eyes. "But killed me you did not, when you had the chance. A mistake, that was. More than eight hundred years has Yoda survived, through dangers you could not dream."

"I know how to kill," Dooku hissed.

Yoda's eyes opened wide, like balls of green fire.

"Yes-but Yoda knows how to live!"

Then their blades clashed together in a lace of fire, green and red: but the green burned hotter. Slowly, slowly, Dooku gave way: and in the dark, drunken Vjun air, Yoda was terrible to behold.

"Yes," Dooku whispered. "Feel me. Feel the treason. All those years of teaching me, raising me. Trusting me. And here am I, the favored son, butchering your precious Jedi, one by one. Hate me Yoda. You know you want to. "

Count Dooku lashed out with his lightsaber. Yoda took a quick step back and felt the heat of the red blade as it sliced the air centimeters from his tunic. He jumped, spun, and struck at Dooku's back before he landed. Dooku turned aside at the last moment, whipping his blade across the space where Yoda was seconds earlier. Facing each other again, their blades met, clashed, froze.

"Cunning, are you," Yoda said, breathing hard.

"I've had excellent teachers," Dooku said.

Yoda dropped and rolled to the side, his lightsaber blazing, reaching for Dooku's ankles. Dooku leapt up and flipped backwards landing lightly to face Yoda squarely. On his feet again, Yoda whirled and struck at Dooku, his green blade meeting Dooku's and pushing him back. Dooku attacked with reckless abandon fueled with hatred. Their blades hummed together, hissing and sparking. Dooku brought his blade down toward the diminutive Jedi Master and Yoda parried, locking his blade against Dooku's. Yoda breathed, calming himself.

"And yet, even here on Vjun, where the dark side whispers and whispers to me... love you enough to destroy you I do."

Pushing Dooku back yet again, blades flashed and flared stutters of light, blood red and sea green. Sweat ran in streams through Dooku's beard as he countered Yoda's every move, and his lips were white. Holobattles raged around them as the consoles showed Obi-Wan and Anakin clashing with wave after wave of battle droids. Dooku shot a quick glance at the red button on his desk and, with a Force push, he punched it in. Yoda cocked his head.

"A choice made, have you, Count?"

"I notice I am no longer your apprentice," Dooku said between breaths. "There was always a chance you could overpower me, of course."

Yoda attacked: Dooku parried.

"So I put a missile in high orbit, slaved to this location. It's falling now. Gathering speed."

Dooku stepped warily back to the open window casement.

"Can you feel it dropping? A thorn, a needle, an arrow. Faster all the time." He paused to get his breath. "Obi-Wan and your precious Skywalker and your little Padawans will be wiped out when the missile hits. So what you need to decide is, what means more to you, Master Yoda? Saving their lives-or taking mine?"

And with that he leapt backward, out the window. Yoda bounded after him. In the dark Vjun air it was all he could do not to leap after Dooku, to fall on him like a green thunderbolt and annihilate him utterly.... But already he could feel the missile, too, dropping in a red scream through the atmosphere, two hundred armored kilos of explosive aimed for Chateau Malreaux.

Yoda engages Darth Sidious, the most powerful Sith Lord in history, in single combat. Though the Sith Lord emerges victorious, Yoda proves a difficult opponent, matching him in lightsaber combat and with the Force. Yoda eventually flees the battle, defeated:

"Sidious battles with passion and fury, only to be matched every blow by Yoda's calm, measured skill."

—Star Wars: Beware of the Sith

"The full power of the light side and the dark side are on display during Yoda's clash with Emperor Palpatine."

—Ultimate Star Wars

Inside the spacious interior of the Galactic Senate chamber, Yoda challenged the Emperor. The two engaged in a spectacular duel—a contest between the most powerful practitioners of the Force’s light and dark sides. The Emperor proved too powerful to defeat. Although Yoda held his own for much of the duel, in the end the Sith bested him.

Jedi Master Yoda confronts his evil opposite as the now-Emperor Palpatine reaches full power as Sith Lord Darth Sidious. The forces of light and dark clash head-on as both figures battle furiously, first in Palpatine’s quarters, and finally in the deserted Galactic Senate itself. These titans continue clashing until Yoda is downed, but hardly defeated. He escapes his enemy’s clutches with the help of colleague Bail Organa, fleeing to fight another day.

—Star Wars Trading Card Game

As the hologram faded, Yoda stumped into the room. Before the guards could react, he used the Force to fling them against the walls. They collapsed in motionless heaps as Yoda said to the Sith Lord, “A new apprentice, you have, Chancellor. Or should I call you ‘Emperor’?”

“Master Yoda.” The Emperor inclined his head. “You survived.”

“Surprised?”

“Your arrogance blinds you, Master Yoda,” Darth Sidious hissed. “Now you will experience the full power of the dark side.” He raised his arms, and the Force pulsed as blue lightning blasted Yoda across the room.

Mas Amedda looked from the Chancellor to Yoda, his eyes narrowed maliciously. He turned and left the room. Another wave of dark power lifted Yoda and flung him hard against the wall. Yoda used the Force to cushion the impact, but he pretended to be knocked unconscious. A surprise, I will give him.

“I have waited a long time for this moment, my little green friend,” Darth Sidious sneered. He stepped forward, and Yoda pushed off, propelling himself straight at the Sith Lord. He knocked Darth Sidious over the desk and stared down at him.

“At an end your rule is,” Yoda told the Emperor. “And not short enough it was, I must say.” He ignited his lightsaber and brought it down, to be met by the Emperor’s blood-red Sith blade.

Strong, this Sith Lord is, Yoda thought as their lightsabers whirled and clashed and whirled again. It should not have been a surprise. With the strength of the dark side growing, the Sith must, logically, have grown stronger, too. But always before, his own years of study and practice and his own strength with the Force had been more than enough to prevail. This time, he wasn’t sure.

But Palpatine didn’t seem entirely sure, either. Suddenly, he launched himself into the air, heading for the door. Yoda did a back flip, bounced off the wall, and reached the entrance before him. “If so powerful you are, why leave?”

“You will not stop me,” the new Emperor croaked. “Darth Vader will become more powerful than either of us.”

“Faith in your new apprentice, misplaced may be,” Yoda replied. As is your faith in the dark side of the Force. Even if Palpatine killed him here, today, the dark side would not truly win. For the dark side was anger, hatred, despair — all the forces of ruin and decay. Powerful, they were, to tear down and destroy, but they could not build anything lasting. Palpatine’s ten-thousand-year Galactic Empire would be lucky to outlast his lifetime.

That thought gave Yoda new energy, and he pressed his attack. He drove Palpatine back across the room, into the Chancellor’s podium. Palpatine hit the controls, and the podium began to rise, carrying him up into the Senate. But the podium moved slowly; Yoda had plenty of time to flip himself into the air and land beside the Emperor, to continue the fight.

As the podium rose into the Senate arena, the fight intensified. Twice, Yoda came near to pushing Palpatine over the edge. They were high enough now that a fall could be fatal, even to a Sith Lord. Or a Jedi Master. The cramped space within the pod left little room for maneuvering.

An end, I must make. Yoda redoubled the speed of his blows. Palpatine parried one, then another — and then the red lightsaber spun out of his hands and over the edge. Yoda raised his weapon for the final blow.

Force lightning spat from the Emperor’s gray fingers, surrounding Yoda in a blue nimbus. But Yoda had faced Force lightning before. To deflect the first bolts, he had to stop his intended strike at the Emperor. Once his initial surprise was over, he reached out to the living Force. The lightning bent, arcing back toward the Emperor.

“Destroy you, I will,” Yoda said grimly. “Just as Master Kenobi, your apprentice will destroy.”

The Sith Lord only redoubled his attack. Hurling Force lightning, the Emperor backed away, to the very edge of the platform. Following him was like walking against hurricane winds. Never had Yoda faced one so strong in the dark side. Before he came within reach, a particularly strong blast knocked Yoda out of the pod.

As he plunged over the edge, Yoda realized that Palpatine was right about one thing. He, Yoda, had indeed been arrogant. It is a flaw more and more common among Jedi, he had told Obi-Wan once. Too sure of themselves, they are. And he had fallen into the same trap himself.

He landed much sooner than he had expected, in an empty Senate pod floating below the Chancellor’s. As he climbed to his feet, the pod jerked, throwing him sideways and knocking him down once more. Palpatine was using the dark side to rip more pods free, crashing them into Yoda’s pod to keep him off-balance.

This game, two can play. Yoda reached out with the Force and caught one of the hurtling pods. He threw it back at Palpatine, who barely dodged in time. Then Yoda leaped, using the flying pods to get back up to the Chancellor’s level.

As he reached Palpatine’s pod, the Sith Lord hit him with another blast of blue lightning that knocked Yoda’s lightsaber out of his hand. Palpatine’s lips curled in anticipated triumph, and the dark side pulsed as he drew even more Force lightning to his bidding.

Yoda caught it. The blue energy built into a glowing ball in his hand, ready to throw back at the Sith Lord the moment his attack stopped. But Palpatine didn’t stop; the Force lightning came in a steady crackle, building more and more, until neither of them could hold it any longer, and the blast knocked them both out of the pod.

Palpatine was larger and heavier; he managed to catch hold of the edge of the pod as he fell. But Yoda was small and light. The explosion threw him high into the air, with nothing to grab to break his fall. Half-stunned, he began the long fall to the Senate floor.

—Revenge of the Sith junior novel

"So easily slain, Obi-Wan is not."

"Neither are you, apparently; but that is about to change." The shadow took another step, and another.

A lightsaber appeared, green as sunlight in a forest. "The test of that, today will be."

"Even a fraction of the dark side is more power than your Jedi arrogance can conceive; living in the light, you have never seen the depth of the darkness."

The shadow spread arms that made its sleeves into black wings.

"Until now."

Lightning speared from outstretched hands, and the battle was on.

In the Senate Arena, lightning forked from the hands of a Sith, and bent away from the gesture of a Jedi to shock Redrobes into unconsciousness.

Then there were only the two of them.

Their clash transcended the personal; when new lightning blazed, it was not Palpatine burning Yoda with his hate, it was the Lord of all Sith scorching the Master of all Jedi into a smoldering huddle of clothing and green flesh.

A thousand years of hidden Sith exulted in their victory.

"Your time is over! The Sith rule the galaxy! Now and forever!"

And it was the whole of the Jedi Order that rocketed from its huddle, making of its own body a weapon to blast the Sith to the ground.

"At an end your rule is, and not short enough it was, I must say."

There appeared a blade the color of life.

From the shadow of a black wing, a small weapon-a holdout, an easily concealed backup, a tiny bit of treachery expressing the core of Sith mastery-slid into a withered hand and spat a flame-colored blade of its own.

When those blades met, it was more than Yoda against Palpatine, more the millennia of Sith against the legions of Jedi; this was the expression of the fundamental conflict of the universe itself.

Light against dark.

Winner take all.

The new Sith could not be destroyed with a lightsaber; they could not be burned away by any torch of the Force. The brighter his light, the darker their shadow. How could one win a war against the dark, when war itself had become the dark's own weapon?

He knew, at that instant, that this insight held the hope of the galaxy. But if he fell here, that hope would die with him. Hmmm, Yoda thought. A problem this is . . .

The end came with astonishing suddenness.

The shadow could feel how much it cost the little green freak to bend back his lightnings into the cage of energy that enclosed them both; the creature had reached the limits of his strength. The shadow released its power for an instant, long enough only to whirl away through the air and alight upon one of the delegation pods as it flew past, and the creature leapt to follow-Half a second too slow.

The shadow unleashed its lightning while the creature was still in the air, and the little green freak took its full power. The shock blasted him backward to crash against the podium, and he fell.

He fell a long way.

—Revenge of the Sith novel

YODA enters, using the Force to throw two RED GUARDS against the wall, knocking them unconscious. DARTH SIDIOUS turns his chair toward YODA. MAS AMEDDA stands behind SIDIOUS's desk.

YODA: I hear a new apprentice, you have. Emperor, or should I call you Darth Sidious.

DARTH SlDIOUS: Master Yoda, you survived.

YODA: Surprised?

DARTH SlDIOUS: Your arrogance blinds you, Master Yoda. Now you will experience the full power of the dark side.

The Dark Lord raises his arms, and LIGHTNING BOLTS shoot out, surrounding YODA.

YODA is picked up and thrown across the room, hitting the wall and sliding down in a crumpled heap. DARTH SIDIOUS chuckles.

MAS AMEDDA leaves the room. PALPATINE approaches a stunned YODA.

DARTH SlDIOUS: I have waited a long time for this moment, my little green friend. At last, the Jedi are no more.

YODA: Not if anything I have to say about it, Lord Sidious.

YODA uses the Force to throw DARTH SIDIOUS back, knocking him clear over his desk and onto the floor in a heap.

YODA: (continuing) At an end your rule is and not short enough it was, I must say.

DARTH SIDIOUS flies through the air, cape flapping, heading toward the exit. At the last second, YODA flies into the exit and stops the Dark Lord.

YODA: (continuing) If so powerful you are, why leave??

YODA ignites his lightsaber.

DARTH SlDIOUS: You will not stop me. Darth Vader will become more powerful than either of us.

DARTH SIDIOUS ignites his lightsaber.

YODA: Faith in your new apprentice, misplaced may be, as is your faith in the dark side of the Force.

Their swords CLASH. The battle is extremely fast and furious.

PALPATINE seeks refuge in the vast Senate Chamber. He gets into the Chancellor's Podium and it starts to rise up into the Arena. YODA makes a giant leap into the control pod. The sword fighting is intense in the confined space.

YODA: Destroy you I will, just as Master Kenobi, your apprentice will destroy.

YODA jumps to a lower Senate Pod. PALPATINE reaches out with one hand, and a Senate pod is released from its mooring and heads toward the Podium. PALPATINE uses the Force to hurl pod after pod at YODA, who ducks and jumps from one flying pod to another.

YODA leaps away from the pods. He uses the Force to hold one pod suspended in the air. The pod spins and YODA throws it back at PALPATINE, who leaps away at the last moment.

Koro Ziil Respect Thread

"I will show you life. I will show you the Force."

―Koro Ziil

While I continue work on a different project, I decided that I'd finally post this Respect Thread I created several months ago. I originally created it to get a feel for how to make respect threads, and I really liked the character. Unfortunately, he has very few feats and appearances, so this will be short. Additionally, the opening image is that of a generic Kel Dor, since he has no actual images. With that said, I hope you all enjoy it and May The Force Be With You! Respect The Hidden One!

Telekinesis

The most basic and well-known of Force abilities, Telekinesis is an umbrella term referring to the ability to manipulate objects and people through the power of the Force. Abilities that manifest under this umbrella term include Force Push, Force Pull, Force Whirlwind, Force Wave, Force Repulse, and Force Choke.

Koro Ziil lifts and throws his stone throne:

The Hidden One’s howl of outrage was like that of his own wind. The stone throne behind him racked and rattled on its platform.

Luke made a sweeping gesture, bringing his rear hand forward, and with it came the toppled pillar, flying forward like a spear. As the throne launched itself toward him, the pillar met it in midair, shattering the stone seat into a dozen pieces, some smooth cut and some broken.

―Fate of the Jedi: Outcast

Force Lightning

Force Lightning is the manifestation of pure hatred and the dark side in bolts of lightning. A Force user can torture, incapacitate, or even kill those unfortunate enough to fall victim to this power.

Koro Ziil uses a white-colored variant of Force Lightning, which possessed enough power to throw Jedi Grand Master Luke Skywalker off his feet:

It happened all at once: the Hidden One gesturing towards Luke, Ben leaping away, lightning flashing from the Hidden One’s hands. It was not the purplish lightning of Emperor Palpatine, which had so nearly cost Luke his life nearly forty years ago; it was all brilliant whiteness.

Luke had his lightsaber activated and up in time. The lightning crackled against his glowing blade. The strength behind the attack, of the Hidden One’s energy and anger, took Luke off his feet and threw him backward. He slammed into a pillar, feeling jolts of pain in his spine and the back of his head.

―Fate of the Jedi: Outcast

Alter Environment

Alter Environment is the Jedi’s ability to manipulate the natural surroundings, such as water, air, etc. and use it to their advantage by freezing water or air, or manipulating cloud coverings.

As a member of the Baran Do Sages, Koro Ziil was trained in the ability to anticipate and manipulate the weather:

Many of them are able to predict weather patterns and even alter them given enough time and effort.

―Hero's Guide

Koro Ziil instructed Jacen Solo in the ability to predict weather patterns:

Luke continued. “And you taught him the lightning-rod techniques.”

“First, I taught him techniques of weather anticipation and the ability to sense energy piling up in the natural world. You can feel heat in the water in the seas, heat that will become cyclonic storms, for instance. But he heard rumor of the lightning rod techniques and asked about them.

―Fate of the Jedi: Outcast

Koro Ziil uses Alter Environment to create a cyclone during his fight with Luke Skywalker:

The Hidden One tossed his head. It was not just a gesture of anger; Luke felt the motion as a ripple in the Force. The air in the chamber responded, a wind springing up and roaring around the walls of the chamber, gaining speed and strength. It tattered the robes of the Kel Dors near the walls as it went. It veered from the wall over the throne and howled down at Luke, engulfing him, trying to drive him backward.

Luke gritted his teeth and rooted himself. Then, against the might of both wind and lightning, he took a step forward.

The Hidden One’s eyes widened. His head rolled around on his shoulders, and the roar of air across Luke intensified. It tore at his robes, causing them to stand out from his body, shudder, and snap in the wind.

Luke took another step forward. It was slow going, for the Hidden One’s power was great, but Luke now felt sure in his footing and in his own strength.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Kel Dors retreating, some of them streaming out through the blast door, Ben waving them onward.

The Hidden One’s face, flushed fully red, was contorted in a mask of anger. He flicked his fingers and the lightning ceased. He moved his now freed hands in circular gestures. Luke felt the wind increase in ferocity. Most of it still whirled around the chamber before battering at him, but some, a diverted flow, spun in a tight circle directly in front of the Hidden One. As Luke watched, that errant stream of air swallowed up dust from the floor and walls, defining its outlines as a miniature funnel cloud, a few centimeters wide at its base and broadening to two meters at the ceiling. It writhed like a mortally wounded serpent.

With a gesture, the Hidden One sent the whirlwind straight at Luke.

Luke lunged at it, visualizing it, wrenching at it with the Force. His exertion was like a physical blow as he stepped into it. He felt the wind intensify for a bare moment, and then his telekinetic attack flung the whirlwind free. It rocketed off to the side and hammered into a pillar to Luke’s left.

Luke took another step forward. He was more than halfway to the Hidden One now. He deactivated his lightsaber. He could turn it on again swiftly if the Hidden One brought forth his lightning a second time.

The whirlwind moved from pillar to pillar as if leaping. When it was directly behind Luke, it lingered there. Luke kept his senses, both the physical ones and that of the Force, alert to its movements. It hammered at the pillar itself, and Luke could hear and feel the permacrete mounting at the summit begin to crack.

―Fate of the Jedi: Outcast

Farsight

Farsight is the Jedi ability to receive visions from the Force. Force users can use the Force to see the future or the past through this power.

Baran Do Sages were renowned for their prophetic abilities with the Force. As master of the Sages, Koro Ziil would likely be highly skilled in this power:

The Baran Do are also often seen as prophets, and rightly so, thanks to their ability to accept visions from the Force and translate them into premonitions of future events. The Baran Do have perfected the arts of the mystics and seers and adapted them for life on the world of Dorin, and are still some of the most reliable foretellers in the known galaxy.

―Hero's Guide

They are rarely caught off guard, and unlike Jedi who view the future as always in motion, they can frequently pinpoint and predict immediate or even distant future events with incredible accuracy.

―The New Essential Guide to Alien Species

The Baran Do Sages were capable of controlling their visions, allowing them to view the future and investigate criminal activities:

The Baran Do Sages specialized in predicting danger by controlling visions that allowed them to see distant locations in the future and past. Their control over and the accuracy of their visions were exceptional, allowing them to investigate criminal activities and foresee future events.

―Star Wars: Force and Destiny Core Rulebook

Hassat-Durr

The Hassat-Durr technique is a Baran Do Sage technique that can disrupt prosthetics and shock shackles, allow the user to act as a range boosting antenna, and much more.

Koro Ziil trained Jacen Solo in the Hassat-Durr techniques during the latter's five year wanderings:

Tila Mong nodded. “He was here. Some nine years ago. He came seeking knowledge of our ways with the Force.”

Ben did a quick mental calculation. That would have put Jacen’s visit close to the end of his wanderings, just prior to the Dark Nest crisis.

Neither Luke’s face nor any sign in the Force betrayed his reaction. “May I ask, what did you teach him?”

“I, nothing. I was not Mistress at that time. Master of the Baran Do was then Koro Ziil, who has since accepted death.”

―Fate of the Jedi: Outcast

Luke continued. “And you taught him the lightning-rod techniques.”

“First, I taught him techniques of weather anticipation and the ability to sense energy piling up in the natural world. You can feel heat in the water in the seas, heat that will become cyclonic storms, for instance. But he heard rumor of the lightning rod techniques and asked about them.

―Fate of the Jedi: Outcast

Combat Skills

Koro Ziil was the instructor of the Baran Do Sage Charsae Saal, and trained with Jacen Solo during the Jedi's five year wanderings after the Yuuzhan Vong War:

”Did he teach you anything?”

“I trained against him in combat.”

Luke’s eyebrows rose. “You’re one of the Baran Do with combat training?”

“I am. In life, I was the teacher of Charsae Saal, who is now Chara. The Baran Do who study combat train mostly in unarmed and staff combat, and I was interested in learning to defend against a lightsaber.”

“What was your conclusion there?”

“The lightsaber is a weapon of the Force and, if you are not similarly armed, must be countered with the Force.”

―Fate of the Jedi: Outcast

Koro Ziil held his own in combat against Luke Skywalker, the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy:

It happened all at once: the Hidden One gesturing toward Luke, Ben leaping away, lightning flashing from the Hidden One's hands. It was not the purplish lightning of Emperor Palpatine, which had so nearly cost Luke his life nearly forty years before; it was all brilliant whiteness.

Luke had his lightsaber activated and up in time. The lightning crackled against his glowing blade. The strength behind the attack, of the Hidden One's energy and anger, took Luke off his feet and threw him backward. He slammed into a pillar, feeling jolts of pain in his spine and the back of his head.

But the lightning did not reach him. His blade kept it at bay. And, bracing himself with the Force, Luke took a step forward.

Then, against the might of both wind and lightning, he took another step forward.

The Hidden One's eyes widened. His head rolled around on his shoulders, and the roar of air across Luke intensified. It tore at his robes, causing them to stand out from his body, shudder, and snap in the wind.

Luke took another step forward. It was slow going, for the Hidden One's power was great, but Luke now felt sure in his footing and in his own strength.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Kel Dors retreating, some of them streaming out through the blast door, Ben waving them onward.

The Hidden One's face, flushed fully red, was contorted in a mask of anger.

It rocketed off to the side and hammered into a pillar to Luke's left.

Luke took another step forward. He was more than halfway to the Hidden One now. He deactivated his lightsaber. He could turn it on again swiftly enough if the Hidden One brought forth his lightning a second time.

The mounting at the base broke, too, and the pillar toppled toward Luke. He heard Ben's warning cry. He raised his left hand backward, using the same exertion he'd made a moment earlier against the whirlwind itself, and the pillar stopped, frozen in midfall. He gestured again and it reversed direction, toppling onto the empty floor.

And Luke took another step forward.

The Hidden One's howl of outrage was like that of his own wind. The stone throne behind him rocked and rattled on its platform.

Luke made a sweeping gesture, bringing his rear hand forward, and with it came the toppled pillar, flying forward like a spear. As the throne launched itself toward him, the pillar met it in midair, shattering the stone scat into a dozen pieces, some smooth-cut and some broken.

Luke let the pillar fall to the floor. With a wave of his hand, he sent it rolling toward the Hidden One, who leapt sideways over it as it neared him.

Luke was already in motion as the Hidden One jumped. The Kel Dor's concentration was broken, his control over the wind diminished, and Luke was able to race forward three steps in the time it took the Hidden One to clear the rolling pillar. As the Baran Do Master came down again, Luke kicked out, a spinning kick that caught the Kel Dor in the gut, throwing him backward. The Hidden One smashed up against the platform's front, crushing in its wooden front panel.

Remarkably, he stood up from the impact, raised his hands for another attack . . . and collapsed, falling onto his face.

The wind died. The rolling pillar fetched up against one that was still upright and stopped. All sounds died except that of the Hidden One's strained, frantic breathing.

There were still a few other Kel Dors in the chamber, mostly Masters, and they began to move forward.

Ithia ran up to kneel beside the Hidden One. Chara, moving more slowly, joined her. After looking at the Hidden One for a few moments, they cautiously rolled him over onto his back. Ithia sat beside the platform and pulled him up so that he could be partially upright, propped against her.

Darth Nox Respect Thread

“Moffs, Generals. Today you will see who holds the real power in the Sith Empire. Not the Dark Council, not Thanaton. Me. When I finish my ascent, all will bow or face my might.”

—Darth Nox (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

This originally started as a project for a dear friend of mine, and it unfortunately took me much longer than I had expected. However, as I delved into the character, I found Darth Nox to be incredibly impressive. Before you begin reading, however, there are a few things that should be noted first. Firstly, I have attempted to order everything chronologically. However, quotes from the SWTOR website and Encyclopedia and feats from the game trailers made it difficult. To resolve that, I have placed the aforementioned items ahead of other feats and quotes, and the rest that follow will be in chronological order. As such, feats will be separated by Act or Chapter and ordered via planet (you might take note that trailer feats will also appear within by planet). Outside of those minor changes, the rest should seem very familiar to respect thread makers and readers. With all of that said, please enjoy the thread! Respect Darth Nox, the slave turned Dark Council member!

Force-Walking

Force-Walking is an ancient Sith technique that allows a Sith to bind the spirits of the dead to them in order to draw on their power for offense and defense. By tethering themselves to the dead, the ritualist becomes effectively invincible as the spirits prevent them from actually dying.

Chapter 2

Darth Nox possesses a pull among ghosts and thus learned the Force Walking ritual, a powerful technique requiring great willpower to bind the spirits of dead Sith and other spirits and allowing the ritualist to draw from their power for attack and defense. In addition, so long as the spirits remain bound, the Sith is practically immortal. The ritual is far easier to perform on a spirit who is willing, and far more difficult to perform when the spirit resists:

“You have a rare pull among ghosts. It’s a source of great power, but it has destroyed many a Sith.”

—Lord Kallig’s Spirit (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

“Requiring a Sith of great strength of will, the ritual of Force-walking allows the user to bind the restless ghosts of dead Sith to himself. Once the ghosts are bound, the ritualist may draw from their power, channeling it into a powerful exertion of Force energy against his enemies.”

—SWTOR codex (Force-walking)

The Force-walking ritual has a drastic side-effect, however. Attempting to control too many spirits can cause physical and spiritual decay and lead to outbursts of power beyond the Sith’s control:

“It appears, however, that binding too many ghosts can quickly overwhelm the host, inflicting physical and spiritual sickness on the Force-walking Sith and leading to violent expressions of Force power beyond the Sith’s control.”

—SWTOR codex (Force-walking sickness)

Darth Nox learns the Force-Walking ritual from the Servant of Ergast:

Dream-Walking

An incredibly rare Voss healing technique, Dream-walking is a healing ritual that allows the user to enter their own mind to conquer their emotions and demons.

“The spirit healers and dream-walkers of Voss are a strange group, even by Voss standards. Preferring to spend most of their time meditating in the wilderness of the Old Paths instead of in Voss-Ka, these Mystics work on healing the mind rather than the body. Using the ritual of dream-walking, the Mystics enter their own minds and face their own fears, hopes, loves and rages, seeking spiritual balance and health. Such spirit healers are few, but there is evidence of their existence throughout Voss history, and an archive of their writings is kept for spirit healer initiates in the Shrine of Healing.”

—Star Wars: The Old Republic codex (Dream-Walking)

Darth Nox enters a dream as part of his initiation to become a member of the Voss Dream-Walker cult. In the dream, Nox faces his demons and contends with the spirits he has bound, all of whom summon illusions of people Darth Nox has encountered:

Force Lightning

Force Lightning is the manifestation of pure hatred and the dark side in bolts of lightning. Through this ability, a Sith can torture, incapacitate, or even kill those unfortunate enough to fall victim to this power.

Darth Nox is highly skilled in using Force Lightning to stun, subdue, or destroy enemies. Those who survive are permanently psychologically traumatized by the experience:

“Seething sparks of lightning explode from the Inquisitors’ fingertips and wrap their enemies in tendrils of pure Force energy. Because Inquisitors can twist the Force into lightning to stun, subdue, or destroy their foes, it has become their signature. Those who have experienced the sensation of the Inquisitor’s Force Lightning and survived forever recoil from the crackling sound of electricity.”

—Star Wars: The Old Republic Website

"Of all the dark arts of the Sith, little can match the spectacle and devastation of Force Lightning. Summoning intense discharges of pure Force energy, the Lightning Sorcerer overwhelms enemies with punishing damage from a distance, leaving them shaken and vulnerable -- if not dead."

—Star Wars: The Old Republic Disciplines

Darth Nox can unleash powerful discharges of Force Lightning to ravage opponents before they even know what hit them:

"From the murky depths of the dark side, the Deception Assassin emerges with a calculated plan. As the Assassin presses the attack, Force Lightning accumulates within their double-bladed lightsaber and culminates in a massive discharge that can ravage the Assassin's opponent before they even know what hit them."

—Star Wars: The Old Republic Disciplines

Darth Nox can disintegrate targets with Force Lightning:

“Sorcerers unleash Force Lightning from a distance, disintegrating their targets with powers like Lightning Strike and Crushing Darkness.”

—Star Wars: The Old Republic (Sith Inquisitor codex)

Combat Abilities

Darth Nox is able to stand toe-to-toe with anybody in combat through his dark side power:

"Hate fuels the dark side, and no one knows this better than the Hatred Assassin. Able to command dark Force powers that assault many targets at once or sap an enemy's very essence from a distance, the Hatred Assassin can stand toe-to-toe against any foe."

—Star Wars: The Old Republic Disciplines

Darth Nox is considered a great warrior by his apprentice Xalek:

“You are a great warrior. I will follow you to death.”

—Xalek (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

“Lord. You are a great warrior.”

—Xalek (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

Darth Nox is considered to be a god by his apprentice Xalek:

“My lord. You are as a living god.”

—Xalek (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

Darth Nox uses his dark side powers to annihilate anything in his wake and his lightsaber to cut down whatever foe may draw too close:

"Inquisitors unleash the dark side of the Force to destroy everything in their wake. Their single and double-bladed lightsabers destroy any foe foolish enough to approach within striking distance."

—Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia

Darth Nox’s lightsaber skills are just as impressive as his strength in the Force:

“An Inquisitor’s skills with a Lightsaber are equally impressive. Often wielding a double-bladed Lightsaber, Inquisitors use quick, guileful, and lethal maneuvers to strike their enemies down with astonishing speed.”

—Star Wars: The Old Republic Website

Prologue

After just landing on Korriban, Darth Nox defeats several failed Sith Acolytes in combat:

“Excellent. These former acolytes wanted nothing more than to earn their second chance for glory by killing you and taking your place. But your desire proved stronger, and their blood became the mantle of your victory.”

—Spindrall (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

Darth Nox defeats two of his fellow acolytes in combat:

As a mere apprentice, Darth Nox defeated Khem Val, formerly the greatest Dashade warrior and servant to Tulak Hord, and forced him into servitude:

“Centuries ago, Khem Val was the proud servant of Tulak Hord, one of the greatest Dark Lords of the Sith to ever live. His people, the Dashade, thrived. A powerful species of Force-resistant killers, they drew strength from feeding on Jedi and Sith alike. Khem Val was called Shadow Killer and Devourer.”

—Star Wars: The Old Republic Website

Khem Val is a near-perfect killing machine capable of defeating even the strongest of Force users:

“A near-perfect killing machine, he could prove a valuable weapon for anyone willing to take him on…”

—Star Wars: The Old Republic (Khem Val codex)

“Powerful, cunning and ruthless enough to slay even the strongest Force users, Khem Val was trained as an elite assassin. After emerging from his long slumber, the Dashade is the very embodiment of death and destruction; a reminder that there are things even Sith and Jedi must fear.”

—Star Wars: The Old Republic (Khem Val codex)

“They’re a lost race of assassins that the ancient Sith used to devour their Force using enemies. This one’ll probably eat you the moment he’s freed.”

—Overseer Harkun (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

“…he is very dangerous.”

—Lord Zash (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

In the tomb of Naga Sadow, Darth Nox slays a Terentatek:

Darth Nox was believed to be capable of defeating the Sith Acolyte Ffon, a highly reputed acolyte with extensive training and renown:

“Meet our newcomer—Ffon Althe. This is real Sith strength, and he will tear you apart and crush your bones—slaves. Look at him! No connections left in the world, but pure Sith blood. This—this is Lord Zash’s future apprentice! Not filth like you!”

—Overseer Harkun (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

“Also unsurprisingly, Ffon has passed his first trial. It’s only a matter of time before he tramples you all under foot.”

—Overseer Harkun (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

“You don’t expect a slave to be a match for me in intellect! I’ve been trained under the greatest teachers--”

—Ffon Althe (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

“Calm down, Ffon. I certainly do not expect this slave to be a match for you.”

—Overseer Harkun

No Caption Provided

“Let Gerr be an example to you. Ffon destroyed him easily, like he will destroy all of you.”

—Overseer Harkun (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

“Ffon has been training at combat his entire life. He was born to be Sith.”

—Overseer Harkun (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

“Harkun, you fool. In any other group for any other lord, this young man would have torn the other acolytes to shreds. What were you trying to prove?”

—Lord Zash (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

“You know I could have taken Ffon. You didn’t need to kill him for me.”

—Darth Nox (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

“Yes, of course, but it wouldn’t have made that stubborn overseer respect your power. So I reminded him of mine instead.”

—Lord Zash (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

After passing the Sith Trials, Darth Nox defeats three servants of the Sith Lord Darth Skotia:

In order to retrieve a Trandoshan relic, Darth Nox fights through a secret base guarded by Darth Skotia’s apprentices, including a Sith Lord:

“The plans suggest Skotia’s apprentices guard the base. I don’t doubt they hold the keys to the Trandoshan relic. Best kill them all to be sure.”

—Lord Zash (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

Something considered impossible for a mere apprentice, Darth Nox utterly destroys Darth Skotia, a Sith Lord more machine than man and dangerously powerful. However, Skotia had to be weakened first.

“Wretched monster. More machine than man and dangerously powerful.”

—Lord Zash (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

“But nobody will believe a mere apprentice could defeat Skotia. It’s impossible, and that’s why it will work.”

—Lord Zash (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

“But be careful—Skotia may be more machine than man, but he’s no weakling in the Force. Killing him will still be a challenge.”

—Lord Zash (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

“At Zash’s bidding, the inquisitor sabotages and utterly destroys the cyborg Darth Skotia, thus paving the way for Zash to take his place and become a Darth.”

—Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia

Darth Nox slays Lord Paladius’ right hand man Gar-Nok, as well as two Screaming Blade Enforcers:

“That was Gar-Nok! You defeated Paladius’ right-hand man!”

—Destris Veran (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

Darth Nox defeats several members of Lord Paladius' cult simultaneously:

Despite being cut off from the Force, Darth Nox defeats Lord Paladius in pure lightsaber combat, displaying great skill against the more experienced Sith Lord:

“That painful twisting you feel in your gut is your essence draining, rather rapidly. And that hollow, sinking feeling? Your connection to the Force being severed. Soon you will be no more powerful than little Denton here, or Ramona.”

—Lord Paladius (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

“Greater Sith than you have fallen before me. Did you think you were the first to try to steal my cult? I could choke the life out of you right now, but since you seem so very eager—let’s settle this with lightsabers.”

—Lord Paladius (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

Darth Nox defeats and then kills the Sith Lord Khreusis:

Darth Nox defeats Sylas Wilkes and his two bodyguards:

Darth Nox fights through the deadliest assassins on Alderaan in House Rist in order to reach and then defeat and kill Lady Rist:

“Congratulations, Sith. You’ve broken into my home, butchered my assassins and forced your way into my personal chambers.”

“Unfortunately, the Elysium is sealed tight, and the key is held by Nomar Organa, a powerful, revered and insufferable Jedi Master. You are the only Sith on Alderaan who even stands a chance of defeating Nomar. We must bring him here.”

—Elana Thul (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

“Nomar Organa has a reputation for strength and power, but above all, for his principles. He is, by all accounts, the perfect Jedi.”

—Urtel Moren (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

Darth Nox fights through House Organa and eliminates Organa’s Jedi contingent force, as well as the Jedi Strike Commander who defeated Urtel Moren in single combat:

“According to our spy, Organa has assembled a contingent of Jedi to attack House Thul. I sent Urtel and his Sith to investigate, but they haven’t returned.”

—Elana Thul (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

“Please, all I ask is that you locate and take out Organa’s Jedi contingent within House Organa before they have a chance to strike.”

—Elana Thul (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

Darth Nox defeats a group claiming to be Nar Shaddaa’s toughest mercenaries:

“Look, I’m standing here with Nar Shaddaa’s toughest mercenaries. Guys that make the Sith look like schoolteachers.”

—Gyl Rosen (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

As an up and coming Lord of the Sith, Darth Nox engages Darth Zash, who is an expert in manipulating the dark side, in combat before the latter uses an Essence Transfer ritual in an attempt to end the fight. Prior to the battle, Zash spent much time preparing rituals to guard against the Force:

Chapter 3

Darth Nox defeats Lucen-Tok and two Voss Commandos:

Darth Nox defeats Darth Thanaton’s apprentice Lord Skar, an unparalleled lightsaber duelist:

“Since rising up from the Korriban Academy, Lord Skar has been Darth Thanaton’s apprentice. A valiant general and unparalleled lightsaber duelist, many have marveled that Skar has never moved against his master. In truth, Skar finds the life of a scheming Sith Lord distasteful, and prefers the more visceral thrill of battle to the political machinations of a Darth. But that is not to say that Skar lacks ambition, and he has been responsible for his fair number of betrayals and dead rivals over the years.”

—Star Wars: The Old Republic codex (Lord Skar)

Darth Nox defeats several Republic soldiers:

Darth Nox destroys a DP-6 Guard Droid:

—Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia

“It is in the Dark Council chambers on Korriban that the Sith inquisitor finally corners and utterly destroys the once supreme Sith while the Dark Council bears witness.”

—Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia

"But the inquisitor nearly loses everything after being caught in a trap devised by Darth Thanaton, a supremely powerful Sith and harsh traditionalist who bristles at the idea of a former slave rising to sudden influence."

—Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia

“I did not think I would live to see Thanaton overthrown.”

—Darth Marr (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

Mother Talzin Respect Thread

"The spirits pull upon the folds of my robes as I walk and echo beneath my voice when I speak. These writings are not merely my words but the commands of the spirits. Challenge my authority and you challenge life itself!"— Mother Talzin (Book of Sith)

One of my friends has a peculiar fascination with Mother Talzin and the Nightsisters, so I decided to make this respect thread for her. Mother Talzin has many abilities that are unique to her or don't have analogues in the powers of Jedi and Sith. Because of this, I decided to separate her Nightsister powers from the abilities that natural Force users have displayed, and altered the usual layout to accommodate this change. I also had to apply terms or names to those without any. Hope you enjoy! Respect Mother Talzin!

Mother Talzin lifts Kycina up off the ground and contorts her body into a position that causes her to strain in order to speak:

“The words had scarcely left her mouth when a gesture from Talzin levitated Kycina a meter off the ground and bent her backward, arching her like one of the surrounding plants, so that her ashen face was tilted to the red sky.

“Indeed, why would you do such a thing?” Talzin said, circling her.

Kycina grappled with the spell Talzin had cast, straining to speak.”

—Darth Maul: Restraint

Mother Talzin closes corridor hatches with telekinesis:

“With the Nightsisters bringing up the rear, the two of them hurried into the corridor and through the first of several hatches: Maul using the Force to open it as they approached, Talzin using the Force to close it, and the pair of Nightsisters using their energy quarrels to destroy the control panel.”

Mother Talzin is able to use the spirit ichor to heal others, even those near death:

“In spellcasting, spirit ichor can become the waters of life and be used to hear wounds or restore memories. When used in conjunction with crafters chanting incantations, I can channel the ichor to rejuvenate the near-dead by coaxing the injured spirit to emerge from hibernation.”

Alter Environment

Alter Environment is an ability that allows the Force user to alter their physical environment. Through this ability they can turn water into steam, whip up strong winds, freeze liquids, etc.

Talzin turns rushing water into steam. She then turns the steam into a toxic cloud:

“The deluge owed to ruptures in the broad pipes that coursed overhead, opened by slashes from Maul’s Dathomiri blade. As fast as the water gushed from the pipes, Talzin—motioning broadly with her arms—was turning most of it to steam, and clouds were beginning to rise through the slotted deck plates of the bay above.

Talzin continued to make magical passes with one hand, while the other dug deeply into a pocket in her robe. Mumbling in Dathomiri, she extracted a crystalline ampoule and began to fling its amber contents in the clouds of superheated steam. Motioning with both hands she swirled the clouds, directing them to rise more rapidly, as if blown upward by powerful fans.

The four of them waited until they heard coughing and retching sounds from above; then made their way to the end of the gantry and ascended a ladder that accessed the upper bay.

Victims of Talzin’s soporific and near-impenetrable fog, the warlord’s soldiers were stumbling about as if inebriated or bent over and vomiting onto the deck.”

—Darth Maul: Restraint

Mother Talzin turns the steam cloud into a sphere of liquid:

“Waves of her hands caused the spreading mist to coalesce into a liquid sphere, which she then burst with a single magical pass, showering the deck with water.”

—Darth Maul: Restraint

Mother Talzin is believed to have summoned a tremendous hurricane force:

"And then the storm hit. The clouds seemed to roll in from out of nowhere. Within minutes, torrential downpours and hurricane winds hammered at the jungle, turning ground to mud and tearing trees from the ground. The Gora had been dangerous enough with bloodthirsty creatures lurking everywhere, and Maul began to wonder if nature itself were trying to kill him."

—Wrath of Darth Maul

Essence Transfer

Essence Transfer is the ability to control the spirit of the self or others and move it to another body, usually to take it over by force.

Mesmerism

Mesmerism is the Nightsister art of mentally controlling an individual. A simple tap of the finger to the forehead is enough to put the subject under a trance in which they are unable to disobey.

Mother Talzin was skilled in the Nightsister art of Mesmerism:

“Mesmerism is another gift provided by spirit ichor. This power allows a shaman to override the thoughts of those weaker than oneself—particularly men and offworlders. A tap of the fingertip to the victim’s forehead will induce a trancelike state and make the victim powerless to refuse your commands.”

Darth Jadus Respect Thread

"An hour ago, the Minister of Intelligence dropped to his knees and wept before me. You would do so, too, if not for fear of being humiliated." —Darth Jadus to Keeper (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

Darth Jadus is undoubtedly my favorite Sith Lord from the Star Wars: The Old Republic era. He's brilliant, powerful, and just sounds cool! Unfortunately, Darth Jadus doesn't have many showings, and is sometimes referred to as an unknown by people I know. With that in mind, I decided to compile all of Darth Jadus' showings in this thread. Respect Darth Jadus! I hope you enjoy the thread, thanks for reading!

Darth Jadus is considered to be a brilliant Sith Lord with long term goals and plans:

"You really don't understand. Lord Jadus must have made preparations for his death. He was power, and fire and brilliance. The instant the master died, I promise—his contingency plans went into action. They'll bring doom to everything Lord Jadus ever touched… and I want no part of it."

―Vyord Yanol (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

"Darth Jadus is reclusive and enigmatic, even among the Sith. He is cold, seething, and brilliant, and of all the members of the Dark Council is the least prone to rage, to laugh, to show any sign of the passions that fuel the dark side."

—Star Wars: The Old Republic Website

"There can be no doubt that Jadus is playing a long game, and the other Dark Lords observe him warily. Until he makes a move, however, there’s little to be done."

—Star Wars: The Old Republic Website

As a member of the Dark Council, Darth Jadus is among the most powerful Sith in the galaxy and holds one of the highest positions a Sith can achieve― the leader of the Sphere of Imperial Intelligence:

―Moff Valion Pyron (Star Wars The Old Republic)

"In the Emperor's absence, the galaxy's most domineering, powerful, brilliant, and cunning Sith lead the Empire's path to glory."

―Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia

"While the undying Emperor serves as the unquestioned leader of the Empire, the twelve members of the Dark Council oversee the daily workings of their vast civilization and speak in the Emperor’s name. Each is among the most powerful Sith in the galaxy; to hold a seat on the council is the highest honor and the greatest position of influence a Sith can attain."

—Star Wars: The Old Republic

Darth Jadus’ power is considered second to the Sith Emperor’s:

“Damn it, we can’t fight him on our own—his power is second to the Emperor’s.”

—Watcher Two (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

Emperor Valkorion considered Darth Jadus to be the greatest Sith that the Sith Empire ever produced:

"Darth Jadus: the best Sith my empire ever produced."

—Darth Jadus (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

Mere exposure to Darth Jadus results in pain and suffering for those around him:

“Now I am asking you-humbly-to leave. These people are suffering in your presence.”

—Keeper (Star Wars: The Old Republic)

Force Lightning

—Star Wars: The Old Republic Website

"Even so, the agent has little hope of defeating such a powerful Sith Lord in direct combat."

—Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia

Darth Jadus is believed to be capable of annihilating anything less than an army:

“I can’t call for reinforcements so long as that jamming field is active. But he’ll annihilate anything less than an army.”

At the same time, a group calling itself the People’s Inquest began enlisting support for a motion that would have forced the Jedi Order to be more accountable to government. Plo Koon himself used a Jedi mind trick to disperse a crowd of student protesters who had infiltrated the Jedi Temple.

Star Wars Fact File 123

JEDI TEMPLE, CORUSCANT - A mob of 20 university students attempted to infiltrate the Jedi Temple yesterday, managing to get as far as the Second Atrium Lobby before being handily contained by Jedi. Unharmed, the students shouted cries of "tyranny and oppression" and "free Baby Ludi" as they were delivered to Judicial holding pens.

At 0700 yesterday morning, a sociology tour group from the University of Coruscant entered the Temple's public lobby. They then unleashed pre-programmed graffiti-bombs with such messages as "Broodsnatchers!", "Baby Ludi Wants Her Mom," "Justice, Peace & Kidnappings" and logos of the People's Inquest movement in the polished interior.

Two younger Jedi Padawans attempted to contain the activists, but were unwilling to injure them with their brandished lightsabers. The unruly mob pushed into the Second Atrium when Jedi Masters Ki-Adi-Mundi and Plo Koon arrived.

"Disperse immediately," commanded Koon. "You are likely to injure yourselves if you continue, and we do not want that to happen."

"We will disperse immediately," repeated the crowd, uniformly, "We are likely to injure ourselves if we continue, and you do not want that to happen."

Jedi Padawans then affixed the students with handbinders, by which time Judicial officials arrived with a transport speeder. The students were loaded into the speeder, by which time the Jedi trance had worn off, and they again became agitated.

Koon could employ the Force Push ability without needing to face his target, manipulated the environment to create fog or ice, and even employed the controversial fingertip-lightning technique, which Koon called “Electric Judgment.

Star Wars: The New Essential Guide to Characters

He uses Electric Judgment to disable the criminal Pommel:

The suite was spacious, and I was separated from Pommel by a distance of fifteen meters. Keeping an eye on me, Pommel began pulling the crying girl- I estimated her to be five years old- out through a wide doorway, beyond which I could see a small ship that rested on the suite's private landing pad. Obviously, his intent was to escape, and he considered the child his insurance. I had no reason to doubt that he would eventually kill her, even if i allowed them to board the escape vessel, for I could see what he'd done to the girl's parents and two siblings, whose bodies lay upon the floor of the inner suite.

In hindsight, there were many possible tactics I might have employed to apprehend Pommel and rescue the child, but I did not consider any options or calculate angles of attack as I watched him drag her toward the ship. I believe I acted instinctively when I extended my right arm toward Pommel and released a barrage of lightning.

I know that the Jedi Council was hesitant to send me on any assignment so soon after the death of Master Tyvokka, but I did not let loose with Force Lightning the way undisciplined beings might release stress. Like other Jedi, I learned of Force lightning at the Jedi Temple, and I am well aware that it is regarded as a dark side power. I never had any special interest in Force lightning, or felt compelled to experiment with it, but I knew it was- at least in me- an innate ability. I did not feel anger as I directed the lightning at Pommel's head, nor did I fear for the girl's safety. I was calm and in control of my faculties. I merely acted to end the situation before any more innocents died.

Upon being struck by the first bolt, Pommel reacted as anticipated as the shock seized his system. His arms flew out and away from his body, releasing both the blaster and the child, who fell to the landing pad. A second bolt ensured that Pommel would remain unconscious until local authorities arrived. I was never tempted to deal a killing blow.

Upon my return from Metellos, my use of Force lightning was included in my report to the Jedi Council. I maintained that I did not embrace the dark side when I used this ability, and that I acted by the will of the Force.

I appreciate the Council's concern with my report. I have not forgotten that is was Master Tyvokka's last wish that I join the Council. I also acknowledge the Council's observation that the Force runs strong in my family. My uncle was a Jedi Knight, as is my niece Sha Koon. While Kel Dors like ourselves have a reputation for seeing moral issues in black and white, I urge the Council to disregard my family in this situation, for I alone am responsible for my actions.

The Council asked me to contemplate whether I would hesitate to use Force lightning again, and whether I was wrong to employ it on Metellos. After much meditation, I believe it would be wrong of me to ignore this power that I might develop into a useful technique for combat. As for whether I was wrong to use it, I believe the only person who can rightfully answer that question is a five-year-old girl. Her name is Claria Labreezle, and she has been placed with relatives at Stratablock 7 on Metellos. May the Force be with us all.

Jedi vs Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force

Plo Koon has apparently perfected his application of Electric Judgment:

Plo Koon was not only appointed to the Jedi Council but apparently succeeded in perfecting the technique that he called Electric Judgment.

The Essential Guide to the Force

Hassat-Durr

The Hassat-Durr techniques are described as such:

”Well, then. The technique you asked to learn is the ayna-seff technique of thehassat-durr family. In our language, the term hassat-dur means ‘lightning-rod.’”

“Why do you call it that?”

“Because if you are not absolutely perfect in your mastery of the technique and perform hassat-durr during a storm, you will be repeatedly struck by lightning and killed."

Despite himself, Luke laughed. “You’re kidding. Right?”

She shook her head. “The hassat-durr techniques suffuse your body with a very low level of electromagnetic radiation. You produce the radiation as an interaction between the Force and your own mental influence over your central nervous system. The energies a student produces early in his study of the technique attract lightning much like a lightning rod. It is for this reason that this skill, like that of dismantling explosives, is best perfected before it is attempted in the field.”

“Other than scrambling brain scans and permitting a rather difficult-to-solve form of suicide by lightning, what do the other hassat-durr techniques do?”

“They can disable one’s own prosthesis and electronic implants, can interfere with shock shackles, can cause one to be perceived by animal senses as something terrible or something inoffensive, and can allow one to act as a very effective range-boosting antenna for comlinks. And other uses.”

Fate of the Jedi: Outcast

Plo Koon was a possible student of the Baran Do Sages and knew of these techniques:

“Though I have lived among humans for many years, some of the differences between our ways choose not to fade into irrelevance. The electroencephaloscan, for example, would be considered a grave and very personal intrusion by my find. Fortunately, my order knows of a means to keep even it at bay. Unfortunately, when utilizing it, we cannot determine that we have functioning brains."
