When Snyder Announced that he was going to do Zero Year i thought "great! a year without crossovers where the other titles will finally have time to develop their own stories"

not going to happen
It makes me sad for DC

such a creative bankruptcy

Harm

it might have increased sales for a while but most of the content have been terrible, the treatment of the creators have been terrible and most of the reboots have been terrible or pointless.

Im not saying that there arent any good books, but the bad heavily overweights the good.

@akbogert: Gail wasnt rehire because she has a fanbase, I dont know why she was rehired but is just as much as we dont really know why she was fired.

Also is not about her not taking a new exclusive, is about DC not offering one.

if DC fires a writer a week after her exclusive contract expires, that is a horrible treatment, dont expect any of the parties to be any happy to work together.

Gail probably only accepted to be back because she wanted to keep on writing that garbage of VICTIMgirl

way I see it is, getting fired was the best thing that ever happened for her, and it's in DC's best interest to keep her onboard.

with that in mind, it is on DC's best interest to have kept, Diggle, Robinson, Fialkov & etc, etc, etc

she is not special or bulletproof, specially because DC lately has demonstrated that they see writers as nothing more than exchangeable parts and she isnt better than any of those guys that DC has bullied and scared away.

Even if you don't like her, you can't deny she has a lot of devoted fans who really do decide to pick up a book for no other reason than seeing her name on the cover. In this industry and economy, that's power.

this has nothing to do with my opinion of her, I just think that her work on the new 52 has been from meh to offensively Bad.

about her having a huge fanbase.

again, does that mean that Diggle, Fialkov, Robinson & etc, etc, etc dont have a fanbase?

It just doesnt make sense that she gets fired and then she gets rehire "because of the fans", specially when they also have demonstrated time and time again how little they care about fans, Or writers for that matter, if anything I think it was just that the firing was too emotional and they rethought stuff, she even said it

and this in my bias opinion, I think she "fold", the main problem was something regarding an editorial mandate, I think she just gave them what they wanted and instead of wasting time looking for a replacement writer they choose to give her the job again. remember, Brian Cunninham, the guy who fired her, is still editing Victimgirl, in short she is his biatch.

and one final point, about hiving this huge fanbase that will buy anything with her name

Yeah, tell that to Wonder Woman, and Welcome to Tranquility, and Secret Six, and Firestorm and lets see how well The Movement does but I bet whatever you want that we wont see an issue 9, and not because i dislike the book, is just because DC just cannot sell anything without a bat or super in the title for even a year.

@akbogert: I think she could be fired again for the same reasons she was fired in the first place, and nothing has really change

lets remember something, Gail was actually fired about a week after her exclusivity contract expired, and she didnt got a similar contract with the rehiring.

@tg1982: there are way more than only those, there is also Diggle, Fialkov, Robinson, Rozum, Perez.

DC is a disaster on management.

@akbogert: Gail isnt bulletproof, if anything she could be fired at any moment if she doesnt behave well, which is what was demonstrated.

I wish Gail have had the guts to be a martyr instead of crawling back to write that terrible book of Batgirl.

Maybe things would be moving in the right direction if Gail was just one of the many names of mistreated writers who leftthe sinking boat of DC.

@frochez: At the same time, I'm not sure about the background of the Sweatshop. I can understand how it ties into the story, but it felt a little bit forced, and more than slightly morbid. It's like when super villains make their secret bases in active volcanoes; yes, it looks cool, but it's both unfeasible and unrealistic. Having your base in what is effectively a mass-grave of immigrants just to make a political point seems redundant.

exactly!

@rich711: But I still think (and DC apperantly does so too) that it is better to have an angry creator say some here and there in stead of them going attacking the the creators or giving them their sides of the story

do you know what would be a good thing? that DC drop doing whatever they are doing to get so many angry writers in the first place.

the fact that Gail Simone was rehired doesnt erase the fact that she was fired or how she was treated

I dont think we need DC's version because we have DC's version, they said once that "they are trying to do whatever they can to produce the best comics possible" apparently that means bullying creators into submission.

and even if they have a point, what kind of explanation can they give? nothing they say will make anything better.

Another poster once said to me on this situation that "burning bridges goes both ways"

@tupiaz: Yes, it was a terrible run, even Jenkins says that it was a terrible run, he is also explaining why it was a terrible run.

@akbogert: decently reviewed this issue, I looked for all the reviews on issue #1 and it got a very mixed reaction, some people liked it and some didnt, and as DC has shown lately they dont care about reviews if the sales are at the tank and this is a tough sale.

I will be surprised if it gets beyond 8 issues

@tupiaz: you are talking like there just one or two angry writers at DC when is way way more.

1 is an isolated case

2 is a coincidence

3 is a pattern

I count a lot people than just 3 who have left DC recently or being mistreated by DC and have voiced their opinion

like John Rozum, Liefeld and Perez.

we have Diggle, Fialkov and Robinson leaving half finished projects

Paul Cornell dishing DC completely.

Jim Zub got hired in BoP then tossed aside and replaced without a single issue, the firing/unfiring of Gail Simone

The problem with Amy Reeder in Batwoman, and now JHWIII is talking about editorial problems with Batwoman skiping august.

and now Jenkins.

I never ever seen anything like this.

I understand your point about taking the hit, but they are being beaten Up here and it has to be their fault.
