Man of Steel- A flashback

MAN OF STEEL

I am going to be honest. I have become a fan of this character after seeing this movie. Of course, it received poor reviews, and many critics panned it. But I loved it.

1. Acting- Not the best part of this movie, but not the worst either. The version of Superman they wanted us to see in this movie is not the "good-guy-smiling-saving-the-world" one, but the more "scowling-responsible-hardcore" version, and I didn't think it was bad. Henry Cavill did his best, but his portrayal of "Superman" was better than his portrayal of"Clarke Kent". Of course, we didn't get much of Clarke Kent here. Hope to see a much more refined performance in the sequel.

And in any case, I loved this new version of Superman. The age has changed. And a badass version of America's finest superhero is nothing short of a treat..

Amy Adams did well as Lois Lane, although I kinda missed the "grumpy Pulitzer-winning journalist" in this movie.. Lois is more relaxed, daring(as usual), and.. Well, she is Lois Lane.

Shannon played one hell of a General Zod. Nothing else to say. Other roles were played to perfection. Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Jonathan and Martha Kent-sufficiently good.

Laurence Fishburne as Perry White was fun. Russel Crowe as Jor-El was quite good. Antje Traue as Faora was good as well.

2. Direction- Vintage Zack Snyder. Full-on action. Entertainment for all ages. Action, emotions, romance.. This movie has it all, courtesy of his screenplay. Of course, character development could've improved, and in some parts, the narrative was slow. And confusing. But at other parts, it was perfect. Especially the fight scenes.

3. Music- Not bad. Missed the classic Superman theme, but better this than nothing.

4.Visual Effects- Awesome. Use of VFX doesn't get any better than this, man. Every building in Metropolis was brought down to ashes(kayfabe). The spaceships, UFO's, fight sequences were portrayed successfully. It was, as if, the COMIC BOOKS had come to life. The fight scenes were freakin awesome. I mean, this is SUPERMAN VS ZOD, and it can't get better than the way we were shown.

ALl that said, I rate MAN OF STEEL 7/10.

And ya'll know who the sequel to this movie features

Looking forward to Superman vs You-Know-Who at July...

And those who think that Marvel Cinematic Universe is owning the Superhero movie market..

Ya'll better hold your socks and lift your crocks..

people get pissed if they dont see their ideal version of a comic character in a cinematic representation and it boggles my mind. most batfans can agree that hes theres never really been an accurate version of batman in a movie, yet people(including myself) love the nolan trilogy as well as batman 89. its the same with man of steel, just because he wasnt the all righteous golden/silver age version he was so terrible. its an effing film, a vision of a handful of people paid big money to give audiences a spectacle of a character most people know. it was never going to be exactly what everyone wanted, yet people rage when they think something is out of character.

yes maybe there were other solutions to dealing with zod at the end of the film, but snyder tried to bring a humanity to clark. as hes tried to make clear, hes not quite yet superman, hes not the morally righteous being who's always able to find the perfect solution, but that decision ended up making him such. the emotional response showed that he knew hed made a rash decision and that hed never allow such a scenerio to come to pass again, hed never kill again.

people harken back to the dick donner superman, but if they actually knew what they were talking about they wouldnt bother. he spun the earth backwards in time just to save one life, disregarding how that would effect anyone but himself and lois, he allowed himself to be depowered just to be with lois, and did other dumb things that didnt make sense for superman to do.

i cant think of one superhero movie that really captured the true comic essence of a character while making a good film at the same time. maybe, MAYBE spiderman 1 or 2 was semi close, but if you dissect a movie the way people have dismantled man of steel i dont think anything holds up. you can start complaining if he kills again, or something along those lines in the next movie.

as far as the destruction of metropolis goes, what was he supposed to do? give me one definitive solution and ill submit, but as far as i can tell from seeing the film multiple times, there was no other way than to just have it out with zod. no one complained watching the JL cartoon when heros punched villains through buildings and such, probably because who cares its animated, but whats the difference this is simply a live action film in a fictional city. its as simple as some people being impossible to please. they love to hate on something that isnt the exact way they envisioned it, either accept what youve been gifted or dont, no reason to act so self righteous that something you could never do isnt up to your moral standards.

end rant

Nah. I don't think people had any problem with Superman destroying buildings in the heat of battle. I think they were ticked off at the way the destruction was shown-I mean, it really was scary. But that's the point. It's Supes vs Zod. Shits bound to go down.

I actually liked MoS, but it could have been significantly better.

And those who think that Marvel Cinematic Universe is owning the Superhero movie market..

Ya'll better hold your socks and lift your crocks..

Considering SVB won't be out till 2016 - who else but Marvel owns the market till then?

Also love MOS, one of my Top 3 Superhero movies.

It wasn’t perfect by any means, but it was very good (8/10 IMO). For once I actually liked how alien invasion was portrayed, how dangerous they could be.

I loved Man of Steel. It has the tone that I would want to comic book films in general.

This logic should be applied to every adaptation, you're never going to get the definitive version of any character. I've had at least dozen different versions of Batman and Spiderman during my lifetime and does the change that fact that I still love them absolutely not. Everybody should be allowed to put their own spin on it, these characters aren't shackled by the true versions anymore especially not Superman to say the least. And I applaud Synder and Warner Brothers for trying something different with the comic book movie genre.
