Chris’ root mutant ability is empathy. Through this ability, he is able to influence the emotions of those within a certain radius or target a person directly by touch for a more potent effect. He sees this ability as a threat to the peace and does not trust his ability to regulate his own emotions. For this reason, he has cut himself off from deeper emotional connection with others in general, usually only using his empathy to sense emotions.
But Chris is also a psy-vampire in that he can feed on the active thoughts, positive emotions, and life force/soul of others. Any regeneration or agelessness he has is contingent on his ability to consume the life force or psychic energy from a potentially cognitive being. To keep in line with the Covenant in his role as a defender, he has not made use or this ability nor has he seen the need. Given his nature though, he is essentially starving himself.
[This siphon itself can be achieved through touch or eye contact and usually has little observable affect on people besides some fatigue and melancholy. Along with his ability to siphon psychic energy, he is able to siphon one power at a time via touch into himself for an hour. The victim may only notice a slight dampening of their ability but will still possess it. He has found a way however to transfer these siphoned powers into crystals that regenerates the power and allows it to be used later and continuously if activated by touch. Still, only one borrowed power can currently be active at a time. Powers can be purged and returned to their crystals.
He could keep one or more of these crystals set within rings or necklaces, but in the utopia in which he lives, he hasn't yet considered a need for such weapons.
